Check out the members rides thread. There should still be some pics in there if they are working.

Yeah, the GTR is a little on the boring side. Doesn't really feel as challenging to drive as some other cars.

Just put a twin plate in mate, then it'll be more challenging than 90% of cars out there lol. :P

twin plates eat 15 year old gearboxes for breakfast

Justin, other car has a twin plate, and they're easy once you're used to them.

What I'm getting at is that it's a very easy car to drive flat out. There don't seem to be too many consequences if you put a foot or two wrong.

I'm sure it might be different with a lot more power, but at the moment, it's just not super entertaining. Sure, it's quick, but not really engaging.

I get what you're saying. It's not lie an MX-5 for example (which is so damn fun). But if you tried to do the same things in it like an MX-5 (ie: handbrakies, drifting on roundabouts lol) I am sure you'd get into trouble.

The GT-R's a damn heavy car and when you come off, you come off in a massive way. I've had more than a few shit my pants moments on the track in my GT-R in the wet especially. When it's on the dirt, and sliding, it keeps on sliding!

I'd say it's not that easy a car to drive flat out at all. It's impossible to drive flat out on the street. Flat out, 300HP, you'd kill yourself. And on a track it's damn hard work. Have you driven an EVO? Now that's a care that's easy to drive flat out!

Having said all that I remember when my car was dead stock with factory suspension and yeah, it was pretty boring in comparison to the beasty it is today. :)

Long time between drinks....

Justin, it's not so much that the car feels heavy and boring, it's just remarkably easier than any other car I've ever owned to drive at 9/10ths. To be honest, it's the kind of car that makes me feel like I'm getting a little lazy behind the wheel.

For example, the other night I came into a corner under brakes and went over a slight dip, one that has been quite unsettling in the RX7, as well as my girlfriends S14. It's tricky because it's on a slight bend and you're usually slowing down from quite reasonable speed, so the bump can tend to make the car very squirmy under brakes. I went over it faster and harder under brakes in the GTR than I have in any other car, and it twitched slightly, pulled itself back into line, and seemed to just sigh and say "Is that what all the fuss is about?"

It's great fun knocking about at warp speed, but it can get to the point where you really need to drive the car fast to enjoy driving it, as opposed to just getting out for a relaxing drive and enjoying a nice stretch of road. Doing that flat out all the time can be a health hazard.

And my car isn't really that far from stock either Stu. :)

Interesting. It's 100% the opposite for me. I find it damn hard to drive fast on a race track in comparison to every other car I've driven or owned (a lot of cars!!!). I hop out of the GT-R after one session and I'm damn tired!!! I'm truthfully also a little scared of it and very rarely give it some on the street.

Then again I've not owned an S15 or RX-7.

If I ever see you at the track Justin, I'd love to go for a passenger lap. Obviously your car has a fair bit more cool stuff on it than mine does, so I can imagine it might be more of a handful.

Trolls Royce

Difference is that Rangies are kinda cool. Hell, i'd own one just to knock about the city in causing trouble with my mates.

Would you own a Saab? Ever?

VTECMACHINE
13-02-07, 07:35 PM
No would you ever own a volvo?

Buddy
13-02-07, 07:53 PM
Saab no..
Range Rover yes.. sport or vogue either the both are hot.. nothing smaller than 20's on the otherwise its crappy
Volvo.. yes a s40 T5 manual.. they are weapons.. the fwd version is better for chirpies.. and dosent understeer as much as the awd version. they have a turbo 5 cyclinder, 6 speed manual.. lags a bit till 3 grand.. but hey what would i know i dealership sales staff never thrash brand new cars with less than 10kms on the clock

IcemaN
14-02-07, 05:34 PM
