Its amazing how little people understand how VTEC works.

The only system that comes close to VTEC is Toyota's VVTL-i. Pretty much all the other variable valve timing systems only do half of what VTEC does.

Although the best production cam system out there is Ferrari's (http://auto.howstuffworks.com/camshaft.htm).

Well HKS are selling a computer controlled variable valve timing kit for RB26 engines (for a while now). It's new school and I'd love to try it on the GT-R but I'm sure it's $$$$$$$$ and perhaps more $$$$$$$ in setting it up too.

V-Cam system for the RB26DETT is about $4,900AUD from Nengun... this is for the Cam system only and does not take into consideration any of the other things you need for it not to kill your engine.

Installation; meh - how had is it to do a set of camshafts (or in this cas one)

:P

VG30DETT comes stock with variable cam timing, i have no idea if that is at all similiar to VTEC but timing is advanced at low revs before turbos kick in

Variable cam timing is not the same as VTEC.

A lot of setups have variable cam timing, especially these days. But only 3 have variable lift, to my knowledge: Ferrari, Honda and Toyota.
