nice man, but as is you should be able to achieve your goals!

23-07-08, 11:15 PM
Sounds great man. I actually spotted you last sunday at the Newcastle forshore. Car looks nice man. :)

24-07-08, 11:57 AM
Looks great!

24-07-08, 12:21 PM

Since Last, I have installed my Gruppe M Intake, and I have removed the standard 'block' on the front bar where the number plate is attached.

I have also done a photo shoot on the car, which I will post up shortly.

I plan on taking the car to heasmans steering soon, and getting it leveled out, as I think the rear sits to low.

At the same time, Im thinking about fitting some 5mm spacers to all 4 corners to push the rims out some more... fill out the guards... but im onyl thinking about that Idea ATM.

24-07-08, 02:25 PM
i cant c pics!!!!

24-07-08, 02:29 PM
I dont know how to add them?

First page Updated~!

31-08-08, 07:23 PM

01-09-08, 11:44 PM

[[d a n n y]]
02-09-08, 03:05 AM

02-09-08, 08:08 AM
I thought you sold your Evo Danny lol

02-09-08, 08:25 AM
Thanks for the pics!!!

Also, Its actually not wisemans ferry! ;)

02-09-08, 10:28 AM
Needs some black RE30's up in this bitch

02-09-08, 10:35 AM

Some WIDE CE28N's in diamond black/titainium gunmetal are in order..

02-09-08, 11:59 AM

RE30 mang, look more aggressive!

02-09-08, 12:23 PM
Yeah CE's with a tough offset would be best :)

02-09-08, 12:36 PM
^ Yup, that is the offset im looking at (im sure it is) 18*9.5 +28...

Andy Wana
02-09-08, 12:44 PM
Surely CE28Ns are meant for this car.
Nice car, Alex. I like.

02-09-08, 12:55 PM
^ Thanks Andy. Take you for a ride some time. Next EOMM? =D

Oh well. Time to see how much power Ill be making. Just about to order a intercooler pipe set.

So that will have my Intake & Exhaust boltons all finished bar a dump pipe and exhaust/turbo manafold.

As of thursday/friday, I will have the Following intake/exhaust mods on.

-3" Front Pipe
-3" High Flow Cat
-3" Catback Exhaust
-Gruppe M Intake
-Hypertech Silicon Suction Pipe (Intake to turbo)
-Plazmaman Intercooler pipe kit + Enlarged turbo outlet. (Turbo to intercooler, intercooler to throttle)

Oh, then a clean up tune.

Damn I hope I get 200awkw with this. =D

Then It will be time to mod cosmetically....

[[d a n n y]]
02-09-08, 01:14 PM
well not that hard to make that sort of power
i had EBC/ Front pipe + Cat+ catback + stock dump
HKS airbox and Pod and made 200atw on 1.6bar

02-09-08, 01:23 PM
don't forget a reflash.... you had that Danny :P

That will get you 200kw for sure though... Thats all i have and i've got 204kw on 1.5bar.
U might want a boost controller though.... just the exhaust will make the boost spike like crazy!!

[[d a n n y]]
02-09-08, 01:25 PM
oh yeah that too
reflash is a must and so is a EBC

02-09-08, 01:50 PM
Well, Ive already got a HKS EVC. (See first post)

Mind you, danny, from what I can remember, you were running an E9 turbo, and edi-no-san has an evo 9.

Better potential for power.

Also, These figures are on the ISMR dyno. (see first post)

02-09-08, 03:17 PM
Nice ride!

I've always secretly wanted an evo ever since I saw it in Jackie Chan's "Who Am I?"

02-09-08, 03:26 PM
That will get you 200kw for sure though... Thats all i have and i've got 204kw on 1.5bar.

but you have MIVEC :P

Alex, after a tune at IS my car made 210kw @ 1.5bar on bp98, with a more restrictive tbe system, albeit I have a IX turbo, but you shouldn't be too far off from your target

02-09-08, 03:35 PM
^ Damn I hope I crack 200awkw...

My car having 174awkw was already the fastest car I have owned/driven or been a passenger in..

I can only imagine what 200+kw is going to feel like... *lol*

Cant wait. I will also have some more 'bling' engine bay pics that I can post up for everyones viewing pleasure...

02-09-08, 03:37 PM
If we still had VPR cracking 200+kw would be so much easier..

02-09-08, 03:57 PM

I cant tune to VPR100, as we dont have it in newcastle... *lol*

So all of my power figures were on VR98 anyways... *lol*

[[d a n n y]]
03-09-08, 02:56 AM
huh?i have a E9 turbo?
dunno where that came from
i had a stock GSR turbo

08-09-08, 08:32 AM
Hey all.

Just an Update, will post up a dynograph later, but the car made 190.8kw on the ISMR dyno.

My god, the car is soooo much more agressive. Although, the new intercooler piping made it a little laggier, but keep it on boost and it is BRUTAL. Very happy!

Thanks ISMR!!!

10-09-08, 01:57 PM
With my last run of 174.1kw on the ISMR dyno, it was in the middle of winter. Now, I have added a front pipe, cat, gruppe m, silicon suction pipe, and the plazmaman spec R intercooler pipe set.

Indy commented that he couldnt run as much timing with the fuel, and that ALL cars seem to be not really living up to expectations..

Also, with my power curve, I now have alot of lag, as the big intercooler piping has about a litre or two more worth of volume. Also, because the piping kit is designed around an evo 9 turbo, we needed to use a spacer so the larger turbo outlet clears the wastegate actuator. But the spacer puts a werid angle on the actuator, and It doesnt like it. I makes it harder to control boost. Although, once it is on boost, it is a freeking animal now.

The car now has a brutal midrange. VERY torquey. I like it.

In regards to next modifications, I will see. Im not impressed with the cat, I think it is a heap of shit. So I might change that out at a later date. Im thinking my next mods may well be a turbo, dump pipe, and manafold. That will DEFINATLY punch me over 200kw, and will give me more torque to boot.

Indy also thinks that the intercooler piping is DEFINATLY worth it. It gives a massive torque improvement.

If anyone is going to the track day (13th Sept), and is interested in seeing my before and after dyno sheet, please feel free to come up to me in the pits some time and I'd be more then happy to show you and tell you everything.

15-09-08, 08:24 AM

YAY! My first ever trackday @ Wakefield!!!

I started the day with 1:19, in the second session I did a 1:16.2, Third session I got a 1:14, then I had Boz in my car giving me some tips in the fourth round. Following that, I posted my quickest lap time of the day a 1:13.24.

I thought that my time of 1:13.24 was a pritty good time for someone that has NEVER done any type of motorsport activity... =D

15-09-08, 07:34 PM
Damn that's pretty quick for a first timer. Well done!

15-09-08, 08:00 PM
Pretty sure I have seen you around Newwy once or twice, the EVO will definately look tuffer with new rims mate!

Congrats on your Wakey time, that's impressive :)

What times do EVO's generally run at Wakefield? from what I heart a well sorted STI EVO with some mild mods will run 1.11 1.10 right?

17-09-08, 01:38 PM
It all depends on tires, brakes, driver ability, etc.

I believe my car has at LEAST a 1:10 ~ 1:11 in it on its current setup...

17-09-08, 02:03 PM
Hey Alex,
Car looked good out there on the weekend :)

Id say you'd have a 1.11 for sure, 1.10....need more mods!

And how good was the instructors out there? I droped 1.7 seconds so I was stoked too!

Keep that car neat and tody mate, its a good one :)

17-09-08, 02:41 PM
Thanks mate!! =D

Surprised you even know it was me, considering the about of white evos out there!! *lol*

Ive got a few things on the way. MY clutch let go at the track day... so now im limping around.. cant come onto boost otherwise I hit EPIC slippage..

So I have a Exedy Clutch, and a light weight flywheel going in. I also have a HKS 264 Degree camset & a 100 cell cat on the way over from the states..

Im looking to get a honed & bored 65mm throttle body, Then I might go in for a reflash, see If I can gain 10kw...

I want more torque!!! ARGH!!! *lol*

Ill be hitting the 1:11's soon guys & gals!! So watch out!

17-09-08, 03:12 PM
The race is on to see who gets there first :D hehe

Haha yeah there were quite a few white EVO's it was hard to keep track of them all!

17-09-08, 03:25 PM

Wont be long... Looking to have a practice day on the 2nd of october, then I might be back with autosports or circuit club in november/december...

17-09-08, 03:44 PM
Autosports is in november but as its on a sunday I cant make it :(

Id love to go back before the end of the year too, if ya hear of any days with timing, feel free to let me know Alex!

17-09-08, 04:27 PM
No worries chris. Will let you know, as Im only going to go to one with timing as well...

[[d a n n y]]
17-09-08, 06:57 PM
good work dude
i hit 1:12 first time out on the old surface..
so u can do 1.10's easy with abit of practice

18-09-08, 08:44 AM
Yeah, Found out my clutch was on its way out on the trackday too...I thought it was just boosting werid...

So a Exedy Item is going in, along with a lightweight flywheel.

I have also ordered some other goodies from the states that should give me some more torque.. =D

08-10-08, 10:49 AM
Clutch & Flywheel now replaced with Exedy sports organic, and exedy light weight flywheel.

Its taking a bit of getting used to to drive it now.. Need a little more revs to take off or risk stalling. Boy does it rev now!! This will be AWSOME on the track...

Think im going to redo my exhaust system next with a different set of pipes...

10-10-08, 12:28 AM
nice progress man. I have always been a fan of Evos. I think the car needs a CF lip or something though

10-10-08, 11:46 AM
Thanks mate! Dont worry, its will be comming... All the carbon fibre goodies are comming... when our dollar gets better... =S

Even more progress soon...

07-11-08, 08:37 AM
First post updated! :D

07-11-08, 03:14 PM
UPDATE: Hey All!

Not being happy with my cars set up, I have started getting my car a bit more prepaired for the upcomming trackday on the 13th of december. Im well and truly sick and tired of my power delivery, so I have FINALLY desided to do something with it.

Im going to remove my intercooler piping kit, and replace it with stock (for now), and I have also ordered some Kelford TX272 cams and fidanza adjustable cam gears.

Along with that, My exhaust is going back to the drawing board and getting the following treatment; JSpeed Twin dump & Front Pipe Combination with custom 3" flanges, Custom 3.5" 100cpsi Metal Cat, Custom Stainless Steel 3" Catback exhaust.

On top of all those mods, Ill also be getting a retune, the cams dialed in, and a service.

23-11-08, 09:16 AM
Hey All.

-3" Hotdog *2
-Cannnon Muffler
-JSpeed Front & Dump Pipe
-Custom 100cpsi Cat
-272 Degree Cams (272 Degree's with 11mm of lift)
-Fidanza Cam Gears

I have also recieved the rest of my gear for my ICE setup.

-Clarion 7" DVD H/U
-Diamond Audio HEX 6 Front Speakers
-Diamond Audio M365ci Rear Speakers
-Audison LRx2.500 Amp

The order for all my carbon fibre dash pieces has been placed with ralliart/TMR and we will see when they can get back to me in regards to that...

I have also purchased a set of 17*9" rims with 255/40R17 Semi Slicks for the upcomming trackday on the 13th of december, so im looking at running ALOT hotter times this time around. See how well I can go for my second time ever on a track.

23-11-08, 03:08 PM
So when ya heading to track next?

23-11-08, 04:46 PM
damnn man!! i wish i could mod my evo whenever i could.... need money haha

and regarding those rims...phatnesss!! ur gonna get sub '10s no worries now (if u haven't already lolz)

23-11-08, 05:08 PM
-272 Degree Cams (272 Degree's with 11mm of lift)
-Fidanza Cam Gears

What ECU turbo you running these with?

23-11-08, 06:02 PM
^ Alex will be running the std 8 GSR turbo and is currently on a custom tuned flashed factory ECU. I think he will be upgrading his turbo later once he has all the correct supporting mods. The car will be an animal when it is done.

23-11-08, 09:13 PM
Hey All!

Thanks for the nice remarks! =D
Now to answer everyones questions!

My next track outing will be on the 13th of December with circuit club.
Although, Im still trying to work out how im getting my rims to the track as I can only fit one in the boot. They are just too fat!

*lol* I wish I could modify my car when ever I want!!! Have to work my ass off for all the mods and have pritty much no social life (drinking, smoking.. not that I'd want to smoke!). Oh, and working in remote areas on a fly in / fly out basis helps a little with the cash flow...

As jase55 said. Im running a standard Evo 8 GSR turbo (which Im almost at the limit of), standard head (just drop cams in), and stock block. ECU is custom tuned by ISMR.

And yes, I will be upgrading my turbo down the track. But not for a little bit. After the cams are in, Im focussing on other parts of the car so I have a more balanced approch. Next up will be interior, chassis / suspension & brakes.

Thanks again all. Keep checking on the first page, as thats the one that keeps getting updated with everything that I do, Including oil changes. *lol*

23-11-08, 10:05 PM
Alex you can fit all your rims in the back seat, i have done it. Just remove the lower rear seat cushion and you should be able to fit your track rims in. Your boot can then carry all your tools and fuel as well.

24-11-08, 12:33 AM

Have you tried fitting 17*9's with 255/40 rubber... trust me man, I thought they would fit, but damn they are FAT!

Trying to get the mrs to drive her ute so we can toss EVERYTHING in it and I dont have to worry about my interior...

Either way, Ill be seeing how close to the 1:10's I can get, no matter what rubber I have on the beast. I got a 1:13.24 as my first outting EVER, and what was with a slipping clutch & MASSIVE issues with my boost delivery (sooooo laggy).. Hopefully with the clutch sorted, more power, less lagg and better grip I can try to cut 3 seconds off. Will see how I go.

Thanks all. I hope to see ya'll at the track day!! Maybe I should run some race fuel through it and run 1.55BAR... w00t! *lol*

27-11-08, 02:51 PM

Hey all!

Just picked it up and went for a spin... WOW! Its AWSOME!

Oh, and my car is now overboosting 3~4psi... Thats how much more flow its giving me over the old setup!! w00p! Cant wait for tomorrow... CAMS!!!

27-11-08, 03:04 PM
I guess the extra 4 inches overall plus wide tyres make a massive difference lol.

Im suprised you changed the turboxs stealth back system Alex. I have it on my car and its more than adequate for my limited mods. Did you get the turboxs metal cat or their ceramic cat. I have their metal cat which is actually a magnaflow metal cat from what they told me.

I have no issues with flow and my car is making healthy power. But its good to know you dont have the 2.5 inch neckdown at the start of the hks silent power.

A full 3 inch system has its benefits as you are going all out on mods I assume.

27-11-08, 03:08 PM
jase55, Im actually happy I changed out the TurboXS to the JSpeed pipe. Besides its JDM goodness, (lol) I believe it has more benefits then the TurboXS item.

As I said before, my car is now overboosting 3~4psi, so something must be a bit of all right! =D

And yeah, your right, the extra flow will help me with the cams.

See how much power I make tomorrow... COME ON 220awkw on stock turbo & motor! (besides cams & cam gears)...

27-11-08, 05:12 PM
are you the guy that went to see indy with a photo of my underbody mate? hahaha

01-12-08, 11:32 PM
^ *lol*

Yup... Im sick of asking for prices and no one knows what I'm talking about. Ive been wanting that bracing for a while now... *lol*

Sorry mate..

02-12-08, 12:06 AM
are you planning on upgrading to the 9 rear end?

02-12-08, 12:38 AM
nothing to be sorry about hehehe

just was funny when i went in and paul said to me
"mate someone came in with a photo of under your car and just went I WANT ALL OF THESE" haha

02-12-08, 09:26 AM

Yeah, people dont understand that I dont want prices on strut braces! haha.

02-12-08, 09:28 AM
Hey All.

Just finished tuning. Made 197kw and an absoulute truckload more torque!!!

I also now have my boost problem fixed! Woo Hoo!!! Getting boost now & 3,400 ~ 3,500 RPM thanks to my new trust intercooler kit!!!

Cams sound sick... Heres some photos... Enjoy!

UPDATE: Hey All.

After my recent power upgrade, Im looking at upgrading my brakes and suspension. Although the brembo's and the Cusco coilovers have done well at trackdays, daily driving and the spirited drive, Ive decided that after this trackday, Ill be upgrading. So, whats on the cards you say... Im looking at the following..

-Zeal Function XS / Ohlins Flag-L Coilovers
-APP Two piece front rotors
-APP One piece rear rotors
-Goodridge Braided Brake Lines
-Project Mu HC+ Pads front and rear

^ That is the current setup im looking at, but no doubt it will change... Ill see how every thing copes at the trackday on the 13th of december first...

Nice upgrades!

09-12-08, 09:26 AM

Im preparation for the upcomming trackday (13/12/08), I have purchased a set of Project Mu HC+ Brakepads, a Carbing Lower 'H' Chassis Brace and a Cusco Trunk Brace. The car will be at ISMR getting all this installed on friday..

In addition Im getting another wheel alignment with more camber, and Im going to try and raise the rear a little and roll the rear guards to fit my 255/40 R-comp's.

Looking at running 3 Degrees of negative camber on the front and about 2 degrees on the rear.. Might dial in more... Will see...

09-12-08, 10:22 AM
awesome! Photos when it is done.

09-12-08, 11:35 AM
Dont worry. There will be photos.

Hoping to get some good ones of the car in action at wakefield.

All the good photos will be on the first post... so keep an eye out after this weekend.

Going to do a decent photoshoot next year.
