View Full Version : I don't know if I can sell the EVO

It's a bad time of the year to sell, as most people have blown their budgets for the year. I have had a few serious offers the best one is $30,500.

Thing is, really not sure if I can sell it now. I don't know if I want to let go of the EVO. Apart from pretty shocking fuel consumption, and fairly high insurance, it's perfect!

- It's dead stock, so no worries about defects.
- It's damn fast and responsive.
- It's very safe in the wet.
- It's handy. 4 doors and a massive boot.
- It's reliable.

I'm not sure if there's any other car out there that can replace it. I was thinking Accord Euro, in auto too... but I'm really not sure now!!!

S15? Nah, too sporty, not practical enough and not as safe for a daily (ie: RWD). EVO7 might be a little less attention seeking? Hmmmmm. Any thoughts peeps? I'm pretty much 50/50 on selling it now!

If you are selling it only because of those reasons (fuel consumption, insurance), then make sure you replace it with something that won't have those issues... so why mention EVO7? Surely that would have the same 'problems'?

Mazda 6 MPS sounds like it might suit, but possibly out of budget a bit (2nd hand 40-50k).

Justin, just buy a shitbox run around to get you by and spend more money on the GTR

daily driver generally means low fuel consumption and low on running cost. So the Evo will eventually make way for something less "performance" oriented. Its a dream garage to own an R32 GT-R and a TME, but one has to make way if you want to preserve these cars from clocking higher mileage and keep it in pristine condition. Let it go soon for a Honda hatch and work it to be a tough daily driver. GL !

Justin what sort of economy figures do you get on the EVO?

Mate if a GT-R owner is reconsidering an EVO due to its fuel consumption it must be something...

If you like it and can't sell it at the price you want, keep it. The Euro might be cheaper to run but if the price of swapping is that you have to take a bath on a few grand on the Evo then it's a false economy...

Yeah might keep it. :)

If you want something safe and secure, and comfy, have you considered an older Liberty RX or Heritage?

It won't be the sharpest tool in the shed, but it'll have that 4WD grip you love so much and sans turbo will be lighter on insurance and running costs. Its not quick, but at the same time its not slow. How fast do you want your daily, anyway?

Yes sir! :) That's the only real positive thing lol. I'm still a bit shocked I sold it HAHA. Talk about 50/50.

02-01-07, 04:01 PM
get the civic you were pondering about to run around in, then upgrade it when you've had enough of the standard performance :D

02-01-07, 04:39 PM
that was quick and u were slowly in love with it

02-01-07, 04:51 PM
ah well, now buy a r34 gtr

02-01-07, 05:09 PM
That would be a great combo.

Daily driver R34 GT-R
Track prepped R32 GT-R.

What about getting a Stagea instead, if you want something that can carry stuff and is reliable and has good grip / safety etc?

this is a very intresting quandry justin...
im of the same opinion, the 86 will be a bit to bumpy and not the sort of thing i want to drive everyday in traffic, not to say i wouldnt want to drive it everyday, just combined with sydneys crappiest roads, bumper to bumper traffic, and stiff suspension its not great. one or two i can take of those i can take just not all three... so i think come engine conversion time i maybe looking for a daily run about...
like you im 50/50 about the whole situation, but i dont think i could live with it on the daily basis...

ps ill never sell the old girl...

U sell cars fast!

*whispers Swift Sport*

This is what Justin wrote on my rcolt site on the suzuki

I sat in a Swift Sport at the motor show and was pretty shocked at how cheap it felt, so shocked in fact I got out of it in a hurry. The clutch pedal just fell to the ground and the gearshift felt crap.

From an economics point of view you should sell if the utility you derive from the car is far less than the car's monetary worth. Basically sell it if you don't have the same amount of satisfaction wiht the car as the day you bought it lolz...just choose a time when the demand for evos is higher.

03-01-07, 11:07 AM
ACCORD EURO!!!! in auto of course

or go for that lotus elise i was looking at....

03-01-07, 05:24 PM
Aristo! Cheap, pretty zippy, COMFORTABLE, pimp

Downside is the insurance probably wont be much better than the TME.

03-01-07, 05:30 PM
Wow, sold it so soon.

2J Is200? :)

I know this thread is old, and your s2000 looks absolutely incredible. But i think an alfa 159 JTS would suit your daily driver needs perfectly Justin :)
