Great views and also great atmosphere for a few drinks as well !! :)

The eye candy aint too bad on some nights either ;)

Brian_J

'all you can eat mussells'

that will end up in disaster methinks

and i agree, all you can eat is generally not as good as individual meals. had ichiban boshi the other night (bondi one, city one not as good), its still as good as ever

shonen
17-01-07, 05:36 AM
haha you dont HAVE to order the all you can eat mussells..

Last time I went there with the sau crew I had something else and my gf at the time ordered mussells so grabbed some of hers hehe

Fuuki = Heard good things about it, never been. A workmate of mine has been going there for the past 8 years and swears by it.

Kenta = Cheap and GREAT Jap food, ugly/tiny restaurant that can only accomodate max 20 ppl. If you want to dine at a restaurant that passes hygiene standards... look elsewhere LOL

Kyushu = Ok food, slightly pricier than other Jap joints in this area... Feels like you're eating in an office.

In Surry hills there is a Jap place called Komachi

Home of the RAMEN CHALLENGE!

http://www.komachi.com.au/

Ive tried it once and I almost died... One of the funniest things about the challenge is that they make you sign a disclaimer prior to the commencement of the challenge in case you die/injure yourself HAHAHA

LOL

I was young and stupid...

Just a note... If you finish the challenge you get the meal for free and $50 cash.

There's 2kg of noodles, at least 1kg of meat, 5L of soup

You have one hour to finish it I think...

The noodles taste great, quantity is also pretty big if you are up for the challenge.

Or you can do the sensible thing and just have the regular size :D

[ekkY]
17-01-07, 04:02 PM

Ichiban-Boshi - Bondi Junction ftw! Rockin' katsu and ramen there.

For something a little more serious (maybe a little nouveau/fusiony/trendy for some), perhaps Kobe Jones, Cockle Bay Wharf either. The 'inside-out' sushi there just rocks.

Tosh

Ichiban-Boshi is nice but Ramen Genki in Artarmon takes the cake for their katsu curry ;)

good entertainment and good food is the teppan at beverly hills, on KGR. i think its called asahi.

There are 2 Japanese restaurants in Gordon, both on the highway.

Having sampled both, all I can say is that Gordonians should not be allowed near Japanese cuisine. Both places sucked.

18-01-07, 07:11 PM
well that's that then! hehehe...

Isn't there a japanese resturant in neutral bay... near mosman, near macy's 24 hour cafe? That place looks good... but once again haven't tried on it. I walked past it at like 2am one night... and looks like a yakuza meeting of somesort.

hehe about time eat decided on jap food for a jdm car club .....

Sakana-ya on Pac Hwy at Crows Nest. 14/20 and 1 Chef's hat in SM good food guide:

SBS Eating Guide to Sydney 2005 "This, our Japanese colleagues confirm, is where Japanese families go to eat. With a name that translates literally as 'fish shop', it doesn't take much to guess that seafood is the specialty here. There's a daily selection of fresh fish plus frozen, imported Japanese varieties."

SMH Good Food Guide 2005 Score 14/20 "Little is lost in translation on an A4 photocopied sheet accompanying the menu. Titled 'Today's Fish' and dated accordingly, it reads like a briny shopping list: kingfish, salmon, mackerel, swordfish, whiting, octopus, ocean perch and cuttlefish. Here in a modest room on the highway, there's a full page of fishy things grilled, fried, salted, with teriyaki, or raw as sashimi."

SMH GFG 2004,Score 14/20,'it's among Sydney's finer seafood restaurants...The sushi is simlarly outstanding and fresh,as are other dishes from the regular menu, such as tempura prawns. There is more than just seafood on offer, but when it's this flapping fresh, why would you bother?'

Hey guys,

Hope you enjoyed Churrasco - sorry I couldn't make it, I been interstate and now Im working >fulltime hours so I'm all over the place.

I'm not a fan of seafood, but I'll try to make it to the next meet.

I think quality over quantity for next choice? (i.e. no "all-you-can-eats" coz you don't end up eating that much)

CoffeeBoss

Ichiban-Boshi is nice but Ramen Genki in Artarmon takes the cake for their katsu curry ;)

Thanks for the tip off, Tosh! Your not wrong - damn good katsu curry, and their ramen is better than Ichiban Boshi as well.
Nice little pocket of JDM goodness to be found there in Wilkes ave, actually. Ice cream omochi - oishii!
