What do you use? Why and any comments.

I use adobe Lightroom.

Its so simple to use, has basic pic editing (ie levels etc) but I love the batch resizing, watermarking and file numbering.

If your familiar with any of Adobes products, you should be able to slip straight into this.

The only gripe is that you can only water mark small text, you cant choose how big, location or add a picture.

Phase1 Capture Pro1 for Processing RAW files, nicer interface than the Adobe RAW program, Then export to Photoshop CS3.

Never used lightroom or Aperture, supposed to be good though.

Slight adjustments in Lightroom, then export to PS3 for any other adjustments I want/need to make.

Lightroom is my first port of call for all my photos... i luv it as it backs up all my photos, you can edit with it, sort, give keywords and i have plugins for it to export to flickr with resize watermark and all the stuff... but also when sell photos it can burn stright to cd with it...and i have all these preset for uploading to my website gallery via FTP and i luv it.. ultimate work flow tool

but photoshop you ahve more control with masking and so on

I run Lightroom for web and print edits, (almost everything these days)
its slow, (on my PC and Mac) but worth it.

PS3 for proper editing of images, (ie selective areas, de-rigging, etc)

photomechanic for browsing/selecting raw files,

acdsee for old school jpgs.

I'm still using Capture One and export to PS just like Brasher. It was the best tool around when I first started with RAW but it sounds like Lightroom has the edge these days.

Lightroom 2,

Better than iPhoto in terms of the number of ways to adjust photo's

but still haven't worked out the watermarking feature despite trying plenty of times in meta data and exports...

I've been using Photoshop for all of my photos, just the regular AUTO Levels and a bit of contrast/brightness adjustment and I have all my actions saved so my photos get resized, bordered and watermarked with one click so I'm happy with it. But I have heard a lot of people use lightroom, I might check it out when I format my computer this weekend.

auto levels is the devil!

Exactly same with anything auto in photoshop

Use auto levels and your own level changes on the same photo and see the difference.

really? I've used it a few times and it turned out ok, I have noticed though that sometimes it doesnt turn out how I expected so I don't do it but I know what you mean though

Scott Kelby knows way to much and his courses are very well thought out.

You will learn alot from that website and kelby. Is he doing the course or is another member of the website?.

I have the Adobe Photoshop CS3 Book for Digital photgraphers and it has helped so much.

You should also look at getting his lightroom and CS books for future reference.

Matt Kawowski(spelling) is doing the lightroom ones, he runs a blog called lightroomkillertips.com and its a big nerd when it comes to adobe programs.

i doubt ill buy the books as the seminers online are ideticals to the dvds that you can buy and these where created of the books.

in the develop module i didnt really learn much, but with importing, keywording, backing up, file management and sorting it helped me quite alot.

however, i wish there was a tutorial on someones actual workflow with it as i would like to see if im wasteing time with mine...

im going to do the photoshop cs3 ones pretty soon
