This guy took apart his 17-85mm when the aperture got stuck...... but how it got stuck was a bit freaky!! (coincident??)......and pen holder is a great idea as well!! :D

saw that this morning on gizmodo, I thought it was an 18-55.

Never knew how much was inside them, you can see why lenses cost so much.

There is a video out there on how they make the 400 2.8L or some big lens like that, all hand done too :shock:

That's pretty amazing! Nice to see what the IS mech actually is!

that thread gave me inspiration.

Basically,
I have a spare 80-200mm kit lens that did not work and kept giving me err99. The error occurs the moment i turn down the focal point.

So taking the advice from that thread... i banged it on a table... and it works now... LOL

I thought it was a lost cause.

Before JDM, a hammer was the way to fix everything. :mrgreen: I think someone has that in their sig even!

lenses are cool. if someone makes a pen holder out of theirs, I'll happily relieve you of the glass elements.

Oh and check here... if anyone thinks its just glass and plastic and can't justify spending so much for the L series.

Wow cool stuff, I have the exact same lens....lets hope it doesn't happen to me..

Oh scratch that, I HAD that lens, until some scumbags robbed my apartment and took it and the camera gear along with most other expensive stuff....grrrrrrr
