saw that this morning on gizmodo, I thought it was an 18-55.
Never knew how much was inside them, you can see why lenses cost so much.
There is a video out there on how they make the 400 2.8L or some big lens like that, all hand done too
That's pretty amazing! Nice to see what the IS mech actually is!
+1 for making a pen holder.

heh yeah that is a little freaky
great shot of the eyeball behind the lens
that thread gave me inspiration.
Basically,
I have a spare 80-200mm kit lens that did not work and kept giving me err99. The error occurs the moment i turn down the focal point.
So taking the advice from that thread... i banged it on a table... and it works now... LOL
I thought it was a lost cause.

Before JDM, a hammer was the way to fix everything. I think someone has that in their sig even!
lenses are cool. if someone makes a pen holder out of theirs, I'll happily relieve you of the glass elements.

Never knew there was so much in that little lens. Imaging what they have inside those hugee white ones!!
Oh and check here... if anyone thinks its just glass and plastic and can't justify spending so much for the L series.
So much effort into the glass.
Canon Factory Tour which shows how they produce the 500mm F4 L IS USM lens.
