Hey guys, went out on Friday morning to catch the sunrise at Coogee beach. Tested my new Xpan panoramic film camera with a roll of Velvia 50 but I mistakenly composed for the whole viewfinder instead of the cropped view in the viewfinder. At least now I know :P
Anyway, here are the DSLR pics I took that morning. I've almost lost interest in shooting digital other than for instant viewing

This is the wrongly composed one - I thought the whole view of the viewfinder was the exposure area :( Looks like the need for the super wide 30mm is inevitable!

Thanks for all the kind comments guys :) Been awhile since I posted any pics on here so I thought why not try something different.
Hey Kelv, definitely film > digital! Speaking of which i'm gonna start developing my own B&W film. Just need to source some brown/amber bottles to store my developer chemicals.
Steve, try it one day and i'm sure you'll get hooked! There's nothing better than watching the sun rise on a beautiful day :)
Thanks again guys!
You da man Justin!
If you start developing B&W I'm happy to get my development done with you, seems no-one else wants to touch it these days :(

All I can say is WOW!
Pure inspirational stuff mate :)
MAy I ask a noob question what is a Xpan panoramic film camera with a roll of Velvia 50?
Im presuming Xpan is the brand and you are using a panoramic film which is used for wide shots?

Thanks mate! The XPan is a film camera that allows both panoramic and regular formats. Velvia 50 is the type of film I use made by Fujifilm. Hope that helps :)
Lovely shots the colours are great and the tones. I wish i lived closer to the beach to get their for sunrise
Also where did you get your Hasselblad X-Pan from?.. Im looking at getting back into this stuff and just trying to find out places to buy these sort of cameras.

Hey Brucey, thanks for the comments. I wished I lived closer to those areas too. For these shots I had to wake up at 4am, or sometimes I just don't sleep :p
I got my Xpan from Trading Post, the place I would least expect to find it and for an extremely good price too. Film cameras are really cheap nowadays as everyone is moving to digital. It seems like i'm going backwards instead though and i'm already eyeing several other film cameras :)
Sometimes eBay is your friend when you're searching for these cameras.
Tell me about it after seeing your pictures and people from tafe i want to go back to film.
Looks like ill keep my eye out on ebay, trading post and whatever else i can find.

Or, better yet, Demotivators (http://www.despair.com/viewall.html)!

Too bad film MF cameras are still so pricey :(

Nice one Alan, some pretty interesting and also awesome shots on that site!
Jonno, i'm also keen on getting another MF camera - a Mamiya or Hasselblad perhaps but they'yre way too pricey!
Mang are you on Flickr at all? Get on it!

LOL i'm not, are you on there?
Does it have any other benefits other than hosting your pics? I've never really looked into it as all my images are hosted on my hosting server.
Yeah it's more than just a pic hosting site (although that's all I use it for lol). There's all sorts of groups you can add yourself to and show off these pics, or get together with to do a shoot etc. A few people I know are building up quite a rep mainly through Flickr.
More exposure for you can't be a bad thing ;)
And yeah, I'm on it (http://www.flickr.com/jonno) :P
Add me bro!

Thanks Jonno! Looks like I already have an account since my email is with Yahoo!
I should dig up all my pics and post it up there but will definitely take awhile :)
