Hi all, fresh from Japan is the Works Bell Paddle Shifter Kit.

Developed by a collaboration between Works Bell and Night-Pager (Keihin Exact Mill Ltd), the Works Bell Paddle Shifter Kit allows you to shift without moving your hands from the steering wheel !

The Works Bell Paddle Shifter Kit places specially designed ergonomic carbon fibre paddles behind your steering wheel which control your up and down shifts. You can shift gears just like an F1 car with a 7mm stroke of the precision engineered paddles !

The carefully made, beautifully detailed Paddle Shifter is composed of machined aluminium alloy and finished with a very hard wearing Alumite treatment. The carbon fibre paddles are adjustable to match the size of your hand or steering wheel by up to 15 mm on each side.

WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE THE MATCHLESS CROWD RACING NISSAN R35 GT-R PADDLE SHIFTER ?

Simple - because the paddleshifter mechanism for the Matchless Crowd Racing (MCR) Skyline Paddleshifter is made by Works Bell.

We asked Works Bell about this and they replied ...

The Works Bell Paddleshifter kit can also be used in custom applications on various vehicles, particularly because it has microswitches and wiring built into the paddle shifter assembly.

As an example, a customer of ours in Europe is using the paddleshifter kit to trigger a hydraulic sequential shifter mechanism on a manual gearbox.

Additionally Toshiki Yoshioka uses the Works Bell Paddleshifter Kit on his AE86 drift car to turn his nitrous system on and off.

There is also the new Paddle Shifter NEO Universal - a universal version of the Works Bell Paddle shifter that be used on a wide range of vehicles.

As long as the Golf R32 MKV's use momentary switches to control the factory DSG semi sequential gearbox, the Paddle Shifter NEO Universal should likely work on the Golf R32, but we will need to verify with Works Bell if it will work with the Golf R32.

You can use the Paddle Shifter NEO Universal in many applications ...

As a paddle shifter to change gears on vehicles which were not equipped with a paddle shifter ex-factory, but which have an electrically controlled transmission (like Porsche tiptronic transmission equipped vehicles).

A number of our racing customers have also purchased the Paddle Shifter NEO Universal for use on the BMW M3 CSL E46 with the BMW SMG sequential manual gearbox.

Our Paddle Shifter NEO Universal can be seen on a number of BMW M3's including that of a European based team which won a major European racing championship last year, and a two car private team who have fitted the Paddle Shifter NEO Universal to a pair of M3 CSL's headed for the old Nurburgring.

This product can also be used as an aftermarket paddle shifter on the Nissan Skyline GT-R R35 and a number of other vehicles from a large range of manufacturers.

Some cars have a factory paddle shifter which does not rotate with the steering wheel (but instead is in a static position on the steering column) such as on the Nissan Skyline GT-R R35. Many people prefer the paddle shifter to rotate with the steering wheel. The Paddle Shifter NEO Universal rotates with the steering wheel, so you can replace "static" paddle shifters with the Paddle Shifter NEO Universal to achieve a paddle shifter which rotates with the steering wheel.

For vehicles which have shift buttons in the steering wheel, the Paddle Shifter NEO allows you to replace your factory steering wheel with an aftermarket steering wheel, but retain control of the semi-automatic sequential transmission

Is the S15 auto tiptronic transmission controlled by buttons mounted on the steering wheel or a separate upshift / downshift gate for the gear lever or both ?

The Works Bell Paddle Shifter NEO Universal has been used with great success on a number of cars including sequential BMW M3 CSL's at the Old Nurburgring, and a bunch of other cars.

The S15 silvia does not have a triptronic function, therefore it is NOT controlled by buttons mounted on the steering wheel or a separate upshift / downshift gate for the gear lever.

I can't seem to find the transmission model number but its for the SR20DET engine.

So because the S15 is a standard automatic box and does not have a triptronic function, i need to purchase

1) Works Bell Paddle Shifter NEO Universal
2) computer to control the gearbox like the SupraStick Automatic Transmission Controller ...

Is that right? Do you have any packages with both those included or do i have to purchase them seperately?

Hi S15ahrez,

Yes that's right.

If the S15 gearbox already had an electronically controlled tiptronic upshift / downshift then you would only need the paddle shifter.

But if the S15 is a standard automatic box and does not have a tiptronic function, then you need both the paddle shifter and a controller.

We do not sell the SupraStick controller, but if you contact SupraStick they will be able to advise if their controller works with the S15 automatic gearbox or not.
