Well, the Missus took me for my first ride yesterday.

From what I was told, she kind of dropped me in the deepend... throwing me on a 'Race-Spec' Kawasaki KX125.

We rode all day around the pine plantations, i'm not sure how many KMs but I ended running out of petrol.

I'm still getting the hang of the clutch/shifter thing but all in all, only came off once (and yes, it was a big off)

I can see what the attraction is, but It wasn't the life-changing experience that everyone made it out to be. Don't get me wrong, it was fast... fuck it was fast, but I don't think it could replace my love for the 4 wheeled versions.

In saying that, whats the process of getting your bike licence and any real-life suggestions for a first bike?

You have to go do a 2 day learner course, then go do a computer test *like for your Ls on your car* and then you'll have your license.

then you can buy any of these bikes :)

How much have you got to spend on a bike keven?

$10k max, i'm thinking of something cheap and nasty until I get onto my fulls... I don't want to get some awesome learner legal bike and drop it/get bored of it and have to buy something else. Thoughts?

I'd still rather an old banger 4 cyl or a thumper dirt bike/motard for a LAMS bike

That ninja does look great in that photo though, but the old bikes are still more fun :D

FYI honda stopped production of the cbr250 in 1996, be careful when buying one as it could be complied in 2007 but still manufactured in 1993. :)

I rode my Hyosung GT250R for the first time ever yesterday *first time on a bike ever* only did it because dad wants me to get used to gear and get the feel of riding before I do my test, there is literally nothing like it IMO everyone should at least get their bike license and ride just to become a better driver and such.

But damn I can't even explain how it feels! Definately going to be somehting I love!

Mate i was in the same situation as you with my parents, but you know what, just get and bring it home, what can they say? for sure they'll lecture you but sweet talk your way out of it.

wow, no springs? no tapping?

I'd still rather an old banger 4 cyl or a thumper dirt bike/motard for a LAMS bike
Me too, These new 125 single bikes dressed up like the big boys make me sick. Owning one is about as cool as owning this. (http://forum.jdmstyletuning.com/showpost.php?p=341488&postcount=1)

The ninja does look nice, but thats all it was designed to do... When you see one in the flesh you will notice how pathetic they actually are.
