judging from the mp, its using the same sensor as sony's A900? (which i thought they were keeping to themselves)

it might not be exactly it,
the sony cam has a few noise issues, and the D3 was the noise champion,
so either they have tweaked it out hard, or is a different sensor.

the noise reduction can be attributed to the processing the camera does itself as well?

the BIONZ thing from sony is probably no where near as good as what nikon use im guessing, some RAW comparison shots will prove to be interesting
