are you using a card reader? or trying to copy directly from the camera? if it's the latter, which camera?

You probably won't be able to see the raw files at all with Windows Explorer, so you will need to run EOSViewerUtility to retrieve the files. You should have the installation CDs in the camera box.

once it's on your PC, you can use DPP or photoshop to play around with the files.

Changing the connection method on the Camera will let you offload the RAW files by using just the USB cable, without the Canon software installed.

Normally it's set to PC connection in the menus, change it to the only other option available, and you should see the RAW files through Windows Explorer.

Microsoft RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer for Windows XP (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=D48E808E-B10D-4CE4-A141-5866FD4A3286&displaylang=en)

will thumbnail the raw files once you have them on your HDD :)

u should be able to just see the .CR2 files just like any other.

i use photomechanic to view and select, PS ACR to process.

I usually just open my RAW images with photoshop, edit and save onto my computer.
