This time its from the "unesco-world-culture-heritage" Coalmine / coking plant Zollverein (http://www.zollverein.de/index.php?f_categoryId=3&f_menu1=3&lang=en). Wich was a really giant coalmine complex in the past.

Nice! Especially 2, 3 & last pic (although abit dark on this one).

It's always great to see how's it like in German. Do show more pics of what a daily German city looks like too.

I saw this location on Lonely Planet tv show, as being preserved as an architectural wonder of the world, and theyve let stuff grow all over it..... and its now some kinda national park! Was absolutely amazing!

I love the third pic. It looks fantastic. The darker stealthy ones look great to.

I gotta ask tho...whats the pig called? I see it on a fair few subarus, just wondering if it has a name lol.

Thank you for the comments. Unfortunatly the batteries where empty too fast. There are lots of nice settings left. But its just 15 km from here :D, so its possible to show justin more of the "Bauhaus" architecture there.

There are lots of these old industry place where I live. The most got closed when they stoped coalmining here in the late 80s. Many of them got preserved. For example next city is a old gasometer with a sound/light instellation inside nearby. Breathtaking to stand in a dark hall with this wonderfull acoustics wich is over 100m high.

The pig is from this Magazine (http://www.yanmaga.kodansha.co.jp/ym/top.html) It was a sponsor for a japanese WRC driver. (Dont know if it still is)

Hey Omawari where are you from?

Never been on the autobahn yet...any fun? Would love to cruise at 160mph+ :)

@ntensity: I am from north west germany. Western Ruhrgebiet-area.
Autobahn can be fun, but most of the time there is too much traffic for driving faster then 160/180 km/h. You allways have to fear someone doesnt check the rear mirror and changes on your lane with 100 km/h to overtake a truck. Can get very exciting when you are at more then the double speed and you run out of space for braking...
And these days there is no money for maintaining the streets, so they just make speed limits instead of fixing potholes.

Here is part 2 of germany. This time Nordkirchen Castle and my parents hometown on the countryside.
(Rococo is enough architecture for Justin?)

Thats the castle from above:

I had a boring day so I put all the shots above and some others into a small videoclip.

Just downloaded the video. 1 small suggestion is maybe to turn off the music at the last part where you go onto the freeway......and.......i was hoping of hearing some german conversation in the car video......Anyway, nice work.

I kept the music loud on purpose.
I recordet with a cheap normal digital kamera. I dont know if it was too loud for the microphone or if the hard ride caused it but the sound record stops from time to time and makes knocking noises.

Why should I talk to myself in the car? :D

Omawari_San: Should get new rims man - your Rex will look much better!

Omawari_San
26-11-06, 12:59 AM
Though about that too, but new wheels won't make it faster. :-)

Other mods have more priority and I think for stock rims they looks still ok.
Maybe I will get a second set and paint them black when I have some extra money left.

Dave R

Well actually the wheels could make it faster if they are lighter then the stockies :)

As 1kg = 60kg to the cars moving weight (with wheels) :)

As 1kg = 60kg to the cars moving weight (with wheels) :)

Hows this work?

Dave R

Unsprung Weight

The weight from the Suspension apparatus which includes the Tire and Wheel combination is called “Unsprung Weight”, and reducing the weight of this section is crucial to the performance of the vehicle. If 1kg of weight is saved from the suspension system, the value of a 15kg weight loss from the vehicle’s overall weight can be saved. This means if an aluminum wheel which is 1kg lighter than a stock steel wheel is installed, 60kg of total of body weight can be saved - http://www.jtuned.com/content/templates/tune.aspx?articleid=288&zoneid=16

But i think this has been mentioned before and it pritty complicated...

Basicly since the wheels are a moving part of the vehichle the weight is multiplied...

Hopefully some1 can help me out :p

[sorry didnt mean 2 get off topic] maybe if we get a good definition of all this stuff, which is easy 2 understand as aposed 2 the scientific jargon we could have a sticky somewhere with defenitions :)

Omawari_San
26-11-06, 02:02 AM
Sure, but I saw a figure somewhere, that the stock rims are allready very light (for stock rims). So they will stay for a while. There are more important things to sort out under the hood.

Dave R

Yer, these cars have been made as a sports car so it is all good :p

but yer, even getting this painted would be cool :p or getting some newer rex rims or somen :)

Like when u c the old school merc's with new AMG rims, it just looks so good :)

Actually allready considered painting. I am waiting for a cheap set of original wheels to paint them black.

Next part:
I have an affinity for old industrial areas. I really like all the rusty metal and constructions.
This one is Landschaftspark Duisburg:

All pictures are unedited. Maybe a photoshop expert can make them look better. But I am satisfied.

edit:
I tried a bit with photoshop in a bored moment. I like this black/white thing alot:

Still had the camera in the car when I just went shopping.
Stopped by at one of two remaining air-raid-bunkers from WWII in my city. Its now a place for band-rehearsal-rooms and what-ever-cultural-place.
