Hello, i'm sorry if this thread is at the wrong place. Please excuse me for my language, i'm Greek. The question i want to ask you is this. Can a celica ,like these two at the fotos, be converted to rear wheel drive? Im searching to buy a fr car here in Greece but fr car like 180sx, rwd celicas and corollas are very expensive. The prices for an ae86 is about 10000euro (AUD 20000) so you get the picture. Older corollas and celicas are even more expensive. A fwd celica like these in the fotos costs from 500 euro to 4000euro. AWD celicas were never imported in greece so if i find one it will cost 20000euros (AUD 40000). Import an old car like this it will cost me a fortune. I WANT TO LEARN HOW TO DRIFT!! If you can feel me, please help me.

Those model Celicas were made in AWD, but the AWD models had completely different floorplans, so the driveline cannot be transplanted to the Front Wheel Drive models.

Even if it could, the AWD was not a direct link - the main drive wheels were the fronts, and the rear wheels were given power only where necessary (so it would be impossible to disconnect the front wheels for a RWD Celica.

The only way it could be done would be to transplant an entire RWD drivetrain, from a Supra or some other car into it. That would cost ALOT of money, for an older car.

All GT-Four models are fulltime 4wd (50:50)

thats not really what he's saying. He cant get an AWD celica any cheaper than the FR car's he also would like,

what he's asking is can an FF celica be converted in some way to FR

and im afraid the answer is: no mate, no it cant. as dominik mentioned, the floorpan in the FF model is different, specificially in that it lacks anywhere to run a driveshaft and fit a differential.

maybe try and get your hands on something like an old cressida or R31 skyline?
