Get an account at Photobucket.com (it's free) - It'll automatically resize all your images to whichever of the options you select. Largest is 1024x768, but I usually go for 800x600. :)

Otherwise you can use this: http://resizr.lord-lance.com/

But you'll still have to host the images somewhere, so a Photobucket account is the best way to go, I use it for all my image posting :)

Otherwise, if you're really desperate, you can use Microsoft Paint.

Open your image, and then click

Image -> Stretch/Skew

Then just stretch each dimension by 50%, or whatever you want to reduce it by.

you can use the Microsoft Image Resizer PowerToy (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx), or go with something a bit more advanced like irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/)

Another vote for irfanview! :)

i found that irfanview was a little cumbersome when it came to resizing pictures in batches? maybe i have a very old version!

im a bigggg fan of ACDSEE version 5.5(?) and above...

Just discovered this little gem.

Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

And search for
Image Resizer

This PowerToy enables you to resize one or many image files with a right-click.

The best thing about TweakUI is changing the links on the locations bar, or whatever it's called. The buttons down the left-hand side of the "open file" and "save file" dialogue windows. So handy!
