View Full Version : [MELB] Lunch + Cruise, for Scathing (Alan)?

van
03-03-07, 10:14 AM
Alright guys, as Alan said, he's coming down to Melbourne soon. He didn't say which dates, but he's here for the Grand Prix, so presumably some time around the weekend of the 15-18th March.

Is anyone up for doing some lunch and maybe a cruise?

RyanP, OzStrider, Flawless, Mike.V, Dori*mon, Sp33dy.. Let's go!

Flawless
03-03-07, 01:14 PM
Sounds good.

But wont most of us be watching the gp during the day :P
Possibley a night meet/shoot/cruise & off to crown afterwards?
Same thing me & ryan did when suga came to town.

eh.. whatever's best for everyone else I guess.

SUGA
03-03-07, 02:04 PM
i'll be there in april again! hope to see you guys!

I didn't mean during the actual event itself ;)

Suga: That'd be awesome :D

Well, around it would be fine.

I should be down there for approximately 2 weeks.

ahh ok.
thought alan was only coming down for the gp weekend.

van
03-03-07, 08:19 PM
What dates work well for everyone? How about the weekend after the GP?

Alan, do you have some solid dates? It'd be helpful. :)

scathing
04-03-07, 12:19 PM
I should be in Melbourne by the 14th.

If we do it during the week before the race, its possible that Levos1 can make it too.

van
04-03-07, 02:49 PM
But the race is on the 15-18th. How do we do it on the week before the race, if you're arriving 1 day before the race?

scathing
04-03-07, 04:04 PM
Practice is on the 14th. Race day is Sunday.

van
04-03-07, 04:06 PM
Alright so... you're happy to do something on either the 15th, 16th, or 17th?

scathing
04-03-07, 05:57 PM
Fo shizzle.

Levos1
05-03-07, 08:48 AM
Yeah I will be around peeps!!
No MR2 tho.........!!
Iam blazing the Tram!! ahah! YEAH!!!!!!!

van
05-03-07, 08:53 AM
Hell of a meet this is going to be, haha. I'll be in a '99 Golf GTI, and Flawless & Levos will be in public transport ;)

RyanP
05-03-07, 09:04 AM
No worries, I'll see you fellas there.

Unless Levos is bringing the woman, I'll give him a ride and we can cruise it in the Nissan.

RyanP
08-03-07, 04:11 PM
Van Tran Stevens, what day are you proposing?

Flawless
08-03-07, 04:25 PM
Alright so... you're happy to do something on either the 15th, 16th, or 17th?

Fo shizzle.

Well if it's going to be lunch.
Wouldn't Saturday be best for everyone? 17th

RyanP
08-03-07, 04:29 PM
Either that or Friday night dinner and drinks (16th).

van
08-03-07, 04:51 PM
I'm not 100% sure I'll even be there, or at least not sure I'll be there with the car. Water pump died yesterday and the timing belt's due, so I've gotta dig out a grand to fix it. Might not be able to get it sorted out in time. Either way, I guess I can cruise with Mike.V or Ryan unless they've already got passengers!

Saturday sounds best to me.

Mike.V?!
08-03-07, 06:26 PM
You can roll with me.

14-03-07, 10:21 AM
Ok, let's do this.

What are we doing?

van
14-03-07, 10:32 AM
Not sure! I am without car until next week, so unless you wanna cruise out to Mt. Waverley to get me, I guess I'll have to get a train into the city and meet you somewhere. I'm also very broke, so if you guys are planning on having dinner or something, I might just have to sit and watch. Gotta pour a thousand bucks into the car this week, which - along with the usual bills and rent and an annoyingly expensive interstate courier delivery - has left me very broke!

Flawless
14-03-07, 11:50 AM
Thats ok van. We should be able to smuggle in a bowl of mi goreng for you

Has anyone been to 'Camy's Dumpling House' in the city? Off Chinatown, not far from Dragon Boat.
They serve a plate of dumpling's (16) for something like $5.
Order some vegie's & tea is free. Lunch shouldn't be more than.. $10pp
I haven't been there in a while, so hopefully thing's haven't changed too much.

PLus, Im too much of a bogan to each chinese/azn food ..... mainly due to being fussy, but mostly cos im allergic to all nuts, some soys/sauces, raw/scrambled/boiled eggs (in cakes they're ok), and cant eat spicey food without gulping 2L of water ..... i even sweat from MILD peri sauce at Nandos... van
14-03-07, 12:38 PM
Haha, I don't have any details yet! I didn't even want to be the one organising it, but it always seems to fall on me! This thread is about organising it, so if everyone lets me know what their availability is like, where they'd like to meet up, where they'd like to cruise to, that'd all be helpful.

YellowPages has no listing for a "Camy's" or a "Camys", maybe we should meet on the steps outside DragonBoat, then walk up to Camy's?

Camy's is in Tattersall's Lane, off Little Bourke st.
Yep, we can meet up at the steps of Dragon Boat if it makes it easier.

Oh.. and i forgot to mention. Camy's food being so cheap, also means it doesn't provide the best of service.
Meaning you've gotta go and get your own bowls, cups, tea, soysauce from the back of the restaraunt :D

Funny place. But great bang for your buck!

It was just me, Alan, and Mike.V. But it's all good, we had a good time. Good food, good talk, etc. Then we headed out to Mike.V's work - he works at an arcade game repairer and rental joint - to play some games, and then Alan took me for a drive in his Z33. Phenomenal car!

I'm staying in St Kilda at the moment.

I might be staying for a day or two at Van's this week before heading home mid-week. Mainly because Melbourne is so much more beautiful than Sydney, and in my wanders around the CBD I found so many good alleys and laneways for photo shoots.

If I can stay here for a day or two I might go in to the CBD on a weeknight (at like 2-3AM) and take photos before going to Sydney. I'd do it on Sunday night, but I'd assume that it'll still be party mode down here.
