I've always had a soft spot for Honda; not because I think turbo is cheating or that VTEC is king or any of that crap. I just appreciate the build quality, engineering, and the little things that are taken for granted (such as shift quality).
That said, I'm selling my S2000 in November, so currently tossing up what to own next. S15, Lan EVO, or maybe even another white S2000
VERY SORRY! i was writing brand names on a piece of paper and writing a report at the same time. How could I forget legendary Mazda!!?!?!??!

I have a nissan. I like the SR motor, lots of friends have nissans, plus I'm part of NDSOC, hence, heaps of resources for my car. It was a logical choice.

Toyota AE86 Levin
there is no other choice...
Without even planning it, almost all of my cars have been Toyotas.
First car was a 1979 2-door fastback Corolla
Next was a 1986 ST162 Celica, which I still have
And my current ride is a MkIV 1995 SZ Supra.
So... Calling me a Toyota fanboy wouldn't exactly be accurate, but I DO have a soft spot for their reliability and performance.
subaru is my atm, i dont know, i have driven a civic, supra, now the subaru
subaru becasue of the traction control, it is heaps fun with on twisties
takes corners so easy and no fear in raining condtion either
performance atm with the mods is beautiful, heaps fast, without any problems.. so far *knocks on wood*
currently honda and renault

I drive a Nissan because I wanted a true sports car. While horsepower sells cars, torque wins races. That and real sports cars push, not pull. :)
So, looking at newish cars in my price range with solid post-sales support, only one vehicle fits the bill.
The car I've got now is the best handling sports coupe under $100K (and probably the second best handling sports car in that price range) and I don't need "practicality" enough for my car's deficits in that respect to be an issue.
My last car was a Nissan hot hatch, which at the time was, once again, the best in its price point. Only the Civic VTiR was more powerful, but it also cost 25% more and lacked the spread of torque that makes the car easier to drive day to day, and when you're going around a blind corner on a publicly used mountain road and can't always drive at ten tenths.

I've driven a few different makes of car in the short time I've had my licence (Toyota, Subaru, Daihatsu, Nissan) and I reckon that Hondas are probably the best overally package for the money. True, Subarus handle brilliantly thanks to AWD and the engine sound glorious with an exhaust on them but their steering has bugger all feedback and gearboxes are too notchy. Shift quality, power delivery, steering feel and handling out of the box are almost second to none in almost all Hondas. Plus they are some of the most beautiful cars Japan has ever created (S2K is one of the sexiest cars I have ever clapped eyes on!)

The sexiest Japanese car I've ever looked at has to be the FD RX-7.
I also like the nose of the S15 200SX, although the back could do with a little work.

yeah hell supra engines are unbrakeable.
theyare so strong
Moved from Toyota to Honda (Civic then Integra). My general take on it is the overall better build quality which I never experienced on my old Celica.
honda, honda and honda... hahaha
Have driven all otha types of cars but i just have a thing for them...
Ther silky smooth looks and the pure roar... *sighs
I have owned 2 since startin to drive but am lookin forward to a nissan soon... maybe for the ppssSHHH...
Btw... just wondering if anyone noticed how B18B + extractors sound alfuli similar to VTEC on high revs??

Built toyota tough!
Will still run with a blown turbo, Headgasket, No Radiator fluid, Low or no engine oil.
Will run on Unleaded petrol.
After the head is cracked etc.. what other car can tow a new engine on a trailer and start up again after adding some water into the busted radiator? :p
I swear I love seeing the old boxy AE82 Twin cam corollas on the road. 20 Year old 4AGE engines still revving to 8 Grand almost daily and when the TVIS kicks in.. they absouletely roar like a bullet :d
Oh what a feeling!

Yeah. I still remember Dumhed's old AE82. After a friend's S13 broke down on Putty, he towed it from Putty all the way back to metropolitan Sydney.
Considering we were over 100km out of Windsor at the time, and had that massive uphill section, that's fucking impressive.

4AGE mate :p
with ecu or cams they can rev upto 8400/500 (20v's stock rev here).
You'd be suprised how quick they can go. I remember Johnny's AE86 did close to 6-7seconds 0-100 N/A. After 4 Grand it will just rev out to redline

Formula atlantic 4AGE's regularly see over 11,000rpm... Not bad for a a motor that has been modified from standard rather than custom made...
I love my sprinter... I have always owned toyotas... Great cars...
Nissan 200sx s13...Stunning car rwd don't think i need 2 better a reason :D

bloody honda drivers leading the tally :D
Umm there's no multiple choice... I have a Nissan Skyline, Nissan Cefiro and a Toyota Rustheap... I mean Toyota Sprinter.
Reason I like my skyline and my AE86... they have nissan engines with programmable ECU's (RB's in the cef n sky n CA18 in the AE86). I can tune aforementioned ECU's by myself, and I'm quite familiar with the workings of Nissan underbonnet gadgetry.
They're all RWD, the cef has nice room and comfort for my dad and me to use, the sky's a good daily driver, and the AE86 was only $650, and it takes the abuse it gets like the good lil bitch it is.

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
why not? lol. um.
i drive a honda. because the nissan i originally wanted had a pinging engine and my father wouldn't let me buyyy it.
so i threw a hussy-adolescent-teenage-girl fit and he found me a pretty itr. :p
given the chance to reflect, i am super satisfied with my honda. and. should i have gotten a turboooed rwd like i wanted, i prolly would have had more than my fair share of accidents and injuries. :p

SUBARU WRX - I always wanted one since my neighbour bought a MY96 when they first came out.

Nissan - because we already have 3 Toyota's at home and I didn't want a 4th one...
Also because sr20det's are a reputable engine, easy to source parts - good project car! Most of my buddies are Skyline or Silvia owners too...
:D
wtf ... holy thread revival batman.
toyota reliable unbreakable and without them you wouldnt have inital d :P

Toyota! Because I couldnt afford a Honda.
Hahaha... had a soft spot for the Echo from my Vitz cup racer in GranTurismo!! Who says computer games don't sell cars...
R33 Skyline GTS-T- Cause i couldn't afford a GTR ;p
I love nissans, to me they represent power. I learnt to drive on my mom's pathfinder, so i've always had a soft spot for them.
I got a skyline because i just like big cars- skylines don't sacrifice space or comfort in a ride. Also since i had my accident and didn't get hurt at all from a pretty serious crash, it reinforced my belief that they built like tanks.
Their racing heritage is also a huge selling point.
Also, Gran Turismo and the GTR being the greatest car in the universe ;p
toyota - reliabilty and revs all for a low initial outlay..... I <3 my 4age :P

I have 2 Mazdas and 1 VW. I'm not really a "Mazda Guy" as such, but since nobody else makes rotary engines and affordable rwd roadsters with excellent handling I have no choice but to buy Mazda products :D
I have a Civic Vti-R Coupe now. I'm a Honda boy at heart and always will be.
Don't know whether my next car will be a Honda though... maybe something different.

what a cool thread. It's interesting to see the majority of JDMST are Honda owners
I bought my DC2, as I have always wanted one since they came out. Yeah a NSX would be nice... but I reakon the DC2 is legendary, and so soooo raw. Absolutally Love it.
hehe so much hondas, well i got a few options for picking my dc5s, but at first i started off with a corolla sportivo and they are on the banned list for p platers :( but then i got the dc5s cause its p plate legal, and i always have a thing for high rev engines and the look of the type s, but i still really wanted a wrx :D even tho its a turbo which is a no no for me p plater but at the moment owning a honda and learning more about it make me like it even more and now i'm obsess with all hondas
HONDA!!
reliable and good pricing (most of the time :P)
looking for another car atm and it will be a honda aswell :)

I drive a Mazda MX5 cause it is the one of those fine little cars in recent years that hasn't lost sight of what's important for a motoring enthusiast.
Mazda didn't just build a modern Lotus Elan, they distilled the very essence of the roadster genre. And it happens to be less expensive than every one of it's competitiors. It reinvented the roadster, back when it's only competitor was the Ford Capri. It paved the way for the revival of Lotus (Elise, Exige), MG (MGF), and Honda light sportscars (S2000).
Yes, people will assume that I am either an arthouse nut or a wanky hairdresser (amongst many things) when they see me smiling at the steering wheel with the perpetual blue sky above my head and wind in my hair.
But I am smiling cos they don't know what they are missing.

i drive a mitsu..
but i love my hondas and my nissan..
mitsu's are great but the refinements dont really come close to honda....
but nissan made great cars like the gtr, silvia etc
but i'm begining to love my EVO lol
so practical so fast lol
Nissan. But I use to be a hardcore Honda fanboy.
Why Nissan? Easiest and cheapest make of car to get more bang for your buck in Aus. Turbo, rear wheel drive, 6 cylinders... perfecto.
I'm a big fan of the s2k though.
..when they see me smiling at the steering wheel with the perpetual blue sky above my head and wind in my hair.

There is nothing better in life then cruise with the top down wind in your hair looking up at the blue sky above.... it would be very hard to go back to a car that isnt a convertible.

u know their piston engined cars arent so bad
