Hi All,

As SEMA can be a bit of sensory overload, we've put together an article with our picks of the most interesting cars at the 2009 SEMA show.

One of our favourite cars of the show is ... a wagon ... :D

The new Subaru Liberty Legacy GTk.

Described by Subaru as "a concept for a track-ready sport wagon", the press release reads ...

"If a turbocharged, lowered, beefed-up Subaru sport wagon sounds like a great
car for taking to the track for some autocross action, then wait until you
open the rear liftgate. In the generously sized cargo area, you'll find a
Coyote Motorsports XP kart (the "k" in GTk), also ready for track duty -- in
this case, SCCA Solo autocross."

The specs on the Legacy GTk sound great ...

- The cargo area is large enough to haul a complete race kart
- liftgate spoiler, midgate spoiler and blackout-style HID headlights were sourced from the Japanese domestic market (JDM) Legacy
- custom parts, including a front air dam with fog lights, lateral hood vents, custom window tint, and, at the rear, smoked tail lights and a diffuser
- 6-speed manual transmission, is borrowed from a 2010 Legacy 2.5GT Sedan
- modified exhaust system and reprogrammed ECU
- 2.5-liter turbocharged and intercooled engine produces 300 hp and 350 lb.-ft. of torque
- SPT short-throw shifter with STI shift knob
- Continuous version of the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system
- viscous coupling locking center differential
- custom quad-tipped exhaust system
- the engine compartment is dressed out with braided stainless hoses and brake lines and
SPT anodized aluminum parts
- SPT strut tower brace
- lowered using Bilstein(®) struts and suspension calibration, along with STI "pink" springs
- Brembo brake upgrade uses 6-piston monobloc calipers in front with 355 x 32 mm
2-piece floating cross-drilled discs and billet aluminum hats
- Recaro Sportster custom front seats and custom matching rear
- Custom boost, temperature and oil pressure gauges
- Harman/Kardon custom surround-sound audio system drives 18 speakers with an
11-channel high efficiency GreenEdge processor/amplifier
- harman/kardon AM/FM/XM/single-CD head unit with a 7-inch touch-screen display

The Cart

- Coyote Motorsports XP kart powered by a Yamaha KT-100 two-stroke
- can reach up to 50 mph in SCCA Solo racing and up to 120 mph in
road racing.

The only thing we'd change on the Legacy GTk would be replacing the white front splitter with a carbon version. I mean seriously, who can't love a car with a cart in the boot ? :)

Also very impressive are the GReddy Hyundai Genesis Coupe, and The V8 mid-engined Rhys Millen Racing RM460 Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

Our other favourites are ...

- The 1000 hp IS300
- the Matt Black Lexus LFA
- AIT Racing Carbon Fiber Widebody Nissan R35 GT-R
- the display that Honda did of vintage Honda racecars
- Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec (watch this car - as an affordable, tunable rear wheel drive coupe we predict it'll make a big splash in tuner circles).
