Hey all, I went to a bike dealer today and sat on a few used bikes that are <5years old.

My height is about 170cm and I found the 2008 Suzuki GSX-R600 to be the most comfortable one for me. Having said that, I haven't sat on a GSX-R750 yet although I am assuming that they would be about the same.

When I sat on the 2005 Yamaha R6 & the 2005 Kawasaki ZX-6R, I feel that I am a bit too short to be able to ride those bikes comfortably.

I would like to hear people's opinion who has either ridden or owned a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R600/750.

the 750 and 600 are almost identical but when I sat on both I could feel a slight differance couldn't put my finger on it though.

Gixxers are fantastic bikes either one will bring a smile to your face, my mates boss has a 750 and loves it he said its perfect.

its one thing to see how a bike fits at the dealership, though its another to see how it feels while riding it.

see how u like it while riding upright, and tucked down.
back when i used to ride, my honda 'disapeared' beneath me when riding upright.
but when goin abit harder and tucked down, it was abit tight

not sure about the bikes your keen on, but some bikes have adjustable rearsets,
you'll be able to loosen and rotate your levers, play with brake lever positions and have the option of replacing levers.

I owned a 2009 GSXR600. I would say buy the 750, going back now i should've done it, but oh well.

Will feel exactly the same as the 600 to sit on in terms of posture etc.

rode a K9 750 a couple of times and feels awesome! previously rode a K5 1000 and rekon it was to much! at least for our roads hey lol.. and with the K9 the difference in weight between the 600 and 750cc apparently is like 5kg!
so imo go 750cc :)

n also on the K9 how the fairings reveal alot more, u will feel more heat around ur legs thats the only thing i disliked! rest is awesome

go the 750, you wont regret it.. if you go the 600 you will like it for a month or 2 then look back and said.. "damn shud have added an extra buck and get the 750"

they both handle the same, but the 750 has the extra power you want.

have you tried the newer cbr600rr? they are very light and quite low seated too.. ?

I agree with peaking duck, ride everything and work out whats most comfortable. Once moving every bike is light as its under its own power.

The gixxers are heaps low and narrow and should suit you if you are unsure

I'm only 170cm as well and rode an 06 R6 (taller seat than an R1!) and was fine - I could barely tippy toe and couldn't reverse without getting off, but you'll get used to it in no time

Whats the weight difference between the r6 and gixxers if anyone knows?

For 08/09 R6 dry weight is around 166kg

GSX-R 600 is around 163kg

THanks Patrick_Starr I assume the seating position is lower on the gixxie?

2008 GSXR Seat Height = 810mm
2008 R6 Seat Height = 850.9 mm

remember kids, seat height is one thing, seat width is another. so you still need to plant your bum on the seat to see if it fits you.

Yeah exactly, sit on it and decide how you feel then

the tank and seat on my CBR are heaps wider than the gsxr/r1/zx10r so it makes it harder for shorter people to get to the ground on it

I would go gixxer! i just have a thing for big suzuki bikes lol, although im not officially aloud to ride them in OZ as of yet :(
Anyways the one i pictured up top was purchased for 17 - 18g i think brand new its a 750cc and it cam with fender eliminator, yoshi slip on pipe and tank protector. it was a special action motorcycles was doing as the 2010 model was just about to be released!
So i beleive 13k aint to bad, but try negotiate or see if they will through in a jacket or helmet or something! Gl with the purchase :)
