LAM approved bikes as of 4/12/09


It is your responsibility to make sure that you are riding an approved motorcycle. If you are a learner or provisional rider you must not ride a motorcycle that is not shown on this list.

CB250 or even the CBR250 is not even listed. My bike (learner legal KTM supermotard) isn't even listed...

250s and below are all legal unless otherwise stated.
EDIT: it's actually below 260cc

That doesnt sound right.




The LAM scheme allows novice riders to ride moderately powered motorcycles. These motorcycles:

have an engine capacity up to and including 660ml and do not exceed a power to weight ratio of 150 kilowatts per tonne and,

are listed in the publication known as ‘Approved Motorcycles for Novice Riders’ published by the RTA. [list posted above]

All motorcycles with an engine capcity under 260ml are approved with the exception of:
Suzuki RGV250
Kawasaki KR250 (KR-1 and KR1s models)
Honda NSR250
Yamaha TZR250
Aprila RS250

Oh and,


All motorcycle built before Dec 1960 are approved.

I'm after a learner 250 bike - at this stage one of the older sports.

Perry, just upload onto photobucket, or imageshack. Pretty straight forward from there.
I haven't forgotten about your bike as well. I just want to be in a position to buy straight away before I inspect things otherwise it might just waste everyone's time.
Interestingly I met the guy who sold the bike to your friend recently and have already seen some pics of it now. Looks clean back then.

Yeah once my shoulder is fixed, used to ride a while back had my L's but didnt go through with it.
