Some of you might already be familiar with Maico, they were a heavyweight of the dirtbike world back in the day. Anyways they still exist (revived I think in the last few years) and for a fairly sizable sum for an MX bike you can own this awesomeness.

All 2 strokes, engines sizes are 250, 320, 500, 620 and 700.

Yup 700cc 2 stroke.

Awesome.

I think its basically a rebranded ATK, ATKs have been invariably heaps of shit which only ultra patriotic yank rednecks buy, so its probably a less than stellar motorcycle.

Maico were absolutely at the top of the game for open class MX bikes in the 70s/early 80s though. The '81 490 is still regarded as being the ultimate twin shock MX bike and is up there as one of the ultimate open class MX motor.

There is nothing quite like the sound and power delivery of an open class 2 stroke MX bike. It is a shame the 450 four strokes and lack of development effort pretty much killed the 500cc class.

Still plenty of inbred hicks in the states tuning these within an inch of their lives in the states for Hillclimb stuff.

Ha thats true. But they're in their element on a flowing, fast grasstrack, somewhere like Barrabool is just unreal on a big bore bike.
