Hi all,

Today we had a very successful test day for World Time Attack at Eastern Creek with Mark Berry's Advan / Hi Octane Racing R34 GT-R. RGM Racing also brought out their legendary R32.

Both cars are absolute weapons, particularly the R34.

The Aeromotions R2 Dynamic Wing is now fitted to the R34 and we did some aero testing today on the R34.

The wing is working very well. I'll let Mark make a comment about the wing when he gets home to QLD.

We stayed out there until they wanted to close the gates around 9.30PM or so, so it was a very worthwhile test day.

I have about 70 photos from the day so I will upload some more tomorrow to our website.

This World Time Attack event is going to be beyond epic. Seeing just one of these World Time Attack cars on track is awesome - a whole pack of them in Sydney on the same day is just mindblowing.

More info about Mark Berry's Advan / Hi Octane Racing R34 GT-R can be found on our website here ...

Hi Elwood,

We won't be posting any testing lap times. The World Time Attack Challenge is a very serious event, so as normal in these kinds of events, teams don't publicise their testing lap times.

If we get any data that the team give us permission to share publicly about the difference in lap times with the new Aeromotions Dynamic Wing, then we'll post it up, but at this stage the data from the testing is being kept confidential.

The effect on lap times of the Aeromotions Dynamic Wing on the car, and Mark's team's development of the car generally will be demonstrated by the R34's laptimes at World Time Attack in May.

!!!!!!!!

Yeah that was my reaction too being up close to the car.

I'll upload a video of it warming up from the test day. The exhaust note is completely menacing - it's one of the best sounding cars I've ever heard.

It looks amazing in photos, but in the flesh it has even more presence. It's a truly awesome machine.

Hi All,

Motive DVD has released an awesome video from the test we did with Mark Berry's Advan / Hi Octane Racing R34 GT-R at Eastern Creek last week.

Congratulations to Andrew Hawkins (Jet200 on JDMST) from Motive DVD on a great video with some awesome footage !

The video includes in car footage from some of the testing laps, video from outside the car, and some great in car shots of the Aeromotions Dynamic Wing in action :)

Wow loving how that rear wing changes it angles when the cars accelerating and braking, reminds me of the bugatti veyron one where it lifts up to create massive downforce to help the braking!!

this is one mean track car, definetly looks like a contender for the superlap champ...

Holllly crap.. that thing is mean as, seems like all the power oversteer at the corner exit would be hurting times tho

Hi guys,

When its on the window camera...is that window meant 2 be moving so much??? :S

Yeah the driver's window is moving a bit in that shot :) I'll ask Mark about this. Thanks for pointing it out.

There is some VERY serious competition from the cars coming from overseas, but I'd love to see a car that was built in a shed here in Australia (and driven by the guy who built it) win this thing :)

Is one mean track car.

It sure is. It's one of those cars that you get a buzz just from being around.

It looks great in the video and the photos, but in person it has incredible presence.

It's made me seriously want to build a hardcore R34 as a road car / track day car - it's a truly incredible machine.

As Russ said in a post on SAU here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=296249&view=findpost&p=5130743 about the car ...

"the 4wd is STILL an issue and now it has quite a bit more power so it just makes it harder to handle".

Fortunately there is still 10 weeks til the World Time Attack Challenge :)

As mentioned above, there is some stuff still to do with the 4WD system to address the handling.

They are going to have an issue with the transfer case for some time to come unfortunately. They werent really designed to have this amount of power running through them and when thay are being driven as hard as this car they really need to be something special to cope with it. Drag cars are fine as you just pump them up and drive them. Its when you need them to turn corners that they become a problem.

They need to contact some of the Jap tuning houses to see how they have overcome the problem. The Japs dont seem to have to many issues

I hope they can at least get it a little sorted for the time attack day

Hi All,

The video from the test day has been featured on Speedhunters here ...

http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/03/12/video-roll-gt-gt-hi-octane-racing-gt-r-testing-for-wtac.aspx

We'll simply let the R34's lap time at World Time Attack do the talking.

The fact that a car that was built by Mark in his shed at home and is driven by the guy who built it is a massive achievement in itself, let alone that it can compete with some of the fastest cars on the planet.

There is an article with more photos from the test day here ...

I for one am absolutely looking forward to the R34 showing the world what aussies can do.

Bring on May 21 !

I don't care if Mark's car get's beaten by 15 seconds, seeing this thing powerslide through corners and listening to the angry RB30 down the straights with the bonnet & windows lifting is good enough for me!

Aussies have a chip on our shoulders? Christ what a comment :D

Good luck to Mark I'm sure he will put on a good show!

Hi All,

Some absolutely awesome news about the R34 has just been posted on SAU :) ...

Russ has just posted on SAU ...

i can tell you right now 4wd is fixed, we now have full control over transfer case pressures and it can be adjusted and controlled anywhere mark sees fit from from full lock up to fully open.

This can be controlled on the fly by a dash controller which we made ourselves , it also has seperate control for off throttle underbrakes etc.

The car is obviously completey different now with 4wd functioning ( as in no wheel spin at all!! finally) and the coilovers have been back to murray coote to be revalved for the new spring rates. testing will be done in sydney again early april.

mark has also the been busy building a carbon fibre oven in the shed for prepreg carbon , which is where the original prototype front undertray (in the clip) that is on the car was built, plus the car is now completely flat floored in carbon sheet he has made also ( can you imagine the hours he has been spending, just crazy!!)

http://www.tunersgroup.com/images/large/large1812.jpg

linton you are on the right track too! almost two inches of front wheel track have been added to the car since that video ...

I hope all the Australian guys can put on a good showing, if not we will get spanked.. simple as that, there are no illusions to just how fast some of these cars are and i personally cant wait to see them.

i know Costa's evo is going to be a monster and BSM guys will be superfast! i really hope they can all perform to the car and drivers potential, i can tell you there has been & will be plenty of support between the teams.
