So I shall re introduce myself.

Iv been here for a bit (mainly just browsing the forums). I saw the lurker thread and decided to come out of hiding.

Heres the car when I first got it.
http://users.bigpond.net.au/mental_empathy/cressy2/cressy005.jpg

Days later it got a proper wash, added a catback exhaust and fixed up my air filter.
http://users.bigpond.net.au/mental_empathy/cressy2/wash/3.jpg
http://users.bigpond.net.au/mental_empathy/cressy2/wash/4.jpg

Went on a photoshoot with some cressy boys:
http://users.bigpond.net.au/mental_empathy/cressy/shoot1/good2.jpg

http://supercarfreak.net/gallery/albums/album599/IMG_5880_Medium.jpg

Then about a month later, this happened (gutter magnet hax)
http://users.bigpond.net.au/mental_empathy/rim.jpg
I had the car repaired and rim replaced for a ripoff $250.

Now its all good as new. Coming up will be a drop to the car with Koni shocks and new springs all round, and possibly some new rims.

This is the car sitting stock:
http://users.bigpond.net.au/mental_empathy/stock.jpg

Now I will soon have it sitting like this
http://users.bigpond.net.au/mental_empathy/dropCHOP.jpg
Is this height still too high?

And finally, a photochop with mesh rims
http://users.bigpond.net.au/mental_empathy/bbs.jpg

Can anyone suggest some other rim selections, or do you like my current ones?

I rekon look at some sexy 5 spoker's with a little bit of dish for that classy VIP look.

Something similiar to these...

Sure they are Ozzy wheels but damn they are nice. Then she'll be look phat! (not that it isn't now but you know what I mean ;) )

Are the plates on his car BER-91N?

He's a mate of mine (sort of)...

Buddy
04-04-07, 07:16 AM
hahahahahahah i was wondering if it was bergins car..hahaha

menty
04-04-07, 06:43 PM
Yeah its his car. Lets not deviate too much from the topic though.

menty
12-04-07, 10:30 AM
Well my new suspension is coming soon so Ill have to roll the guards. Anyone recommend a good (and hopefully cheap) place to get it done in Sydney?

Babalouie

Well my new suspension is coming soon so Ill have to roll the guards. Anyone recommend a good (and hopefully cheap) place to get it done in Sydney?

I've heard good things about Luis from Drift Garage. He's not cheap but I would suggest you avoid the cheaper guys.

The last guard rolling job I did was a guy who charged $25 per corner but rather than painstakingly rolling the guard with the rolling machine, he did a quick job using a hammer :( Paint was cracked & chipped, the lip was mis-shapen, etc.

Basically you get what you pay for. Pay a little extra for a guy who'll take the time to do it slowly so that the paint doesn't crack, etc.

Babalouie
13-04-07, 05:40 PM
As an example, do not allow this person to roll your guards for you:

hey kevin! love the ride bro

menty
23-04-07, 06:43 PM
Haha scott. Get yours fixed already, and Ill get mine dropped. I got some is200 rims for it the other day (in case I get major scrubbage when I drop it), dunno if I should keep my 18s or run the is200s

WTF-33R
23-04-07, 07:33 PM
how about a set of these rims?
http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/6569/img9781qx4.jpg

menty
23-04-07, 07:38 PM
Wow dish, That amount of dish will never fit on my car. Its also another problem that because of the colour of my car, its hard to find rims that suit.

Now, I will be selling those 18s most likely, so people can make offers via PM if they want. Ill then run the IS200 rims I have for the meantime and hopefully something in a 17x8, 17x9 in something like a +45 offset comes up. Then Ill stretch 215 tyres on :)

Does anyone know if stretching tyres is actually legal?

punkrock_scotty
23-04-07, 07:46 PM
just a guess but i think it might be illegal. the rta and cops and stuff are really stingy with wat mods you can do. pod filters are illegal F.F.S.

Buddy
23-04-07, 08:27 PM
pod filters are illegal F.F.S.

aaaaahhh dammit since when.....

punkrock_scotty
24-04-07, 01:58 PM
since u got defected for one :D

rupewrecht
24-04-07, 02:22 PM
mid/dark grey rims are the best to go with your blue, i think.

and just some subtle colorcoding of the doorsills (so it doesn't looks so top heavy, and makes the front mudflaps work better) and the rub strips (or removal of them)

http://rupewrecht.com/misc/cressida_slammed.jpg

anyway, that's my $0.02

Slow day at work Rupe ??? *bows down to photoshop master*

Nah, just procrastinating! </end OT>

menty
24-04-07, 02:44 PM
Hmm that does look nice. Can you leave the rub strips black? Also, since its sitting a bit low, could you use the other picture I have? Theres no way Im going to have it sit THAT low, scrapage everywhere!

rupewrecht
24-04-07, 02:49 PM
Looks better being colored coded ;)

Oh, and i put the doorhandles back on too

http://rupewrecht.com/misc/cressida_slammed2.jpg

menty
24-04-07, 03:00 PM
Since we're on the topic of photochopping, could i request a picture with is200 rims painted in a colour you think is good:)

http://rupewrecht.com/misc/cressida_slammed_is.jpg

I prefer your current rims in grey...or the IS ones in something dark.

http://rupewrecht.com/misc/cressida_slammed_isgrey.jpg

menty
24-04-07, 03:25 PM
Well if I do end up keeping the IS rims, Ill be repainting them. It would be a dark colour, maybe even black.

punkrock_scotty
24-04-07, 03:49 PM
i reckon you should keep your current rims and have them gunmetal!
that first pic that rupewrecht did looked amazing. minus the slammage of course. oh yeh and keep the bump strips.

menty
24-04-07, 03:53 PM
Well I shall see after I drop the car next wednesday. If it scrubs too much then I cant keep those rims.

How much would it cost to respray rims?

punkrock_scotty
24-04-07, 05:12 PM
my mate can do it. he sprayed his rims matt black, looks so hot. hes on here actually, he has an ae92 corolla sedan.

PM him im sure he would be able to do it for a reasonable price, or a case of beer or something. ill post his username wen i find it.

WTF-33R
25-04-07, 12:12 PM
personally i wouldnt stretch tyres as it makes your rims more suseptible to damage. dunno about the legality of it but i suppose as long as the load rating of the tyre complies with the tyre placard it should be ok.

if you are after 17's to fit shall i recommend www.otomoto.com.au.

BTW those deep dishes i pictured are for sale, if you are interested in trying them on feel free to contact me :P (shameless plug) :P

menty
25-04-07, 12:17 PM
Yeah Iv been speaking to Grant from otomoto. Im just waiting for their next shipment of wheels to come in

PyRoMaNiAc
25-04-07, 06:31 PM
was this at Eastern Creek 2day?

menty
26-04-07, 06:47 PM
Yay or nay? Bear in mind these are 17x9 +35 offset so ill be running stretched 215 tyres and possibly negative camber.

Also, the wheels arent white, they just came out that way

http://users.bigpond.net.au/mental_empathy/volks_2.jpg

menty
03-05-07, 12:09 AM
Hmm, would dark bronze coloured wheels suit it?

menty
03-05-07, 11:36 AM
And some new pics for u to chop!

punkrock_scotty
15-05-07, 09:45 PM

nath
15-05-07, 11:43 PM

nath
15-05-07, 11:44 PM
PS: Ditch the chrome trim around your wheel arches

punkrock_scotty
16-05-07, 02:14 PM
hahaha yeah kev give up the chrome strips mate, did it on mine, looks waaaay better, wouldnt u agree?

menty
18-05-07, 06:19 PM
Chrome trim ftw!

Oldschool grandpa spec all the way. Ill have a think about it, as I might be painting my skirts blue too - anyone know the approx price for spraying the skirts and mirror?

punkrock_scotty
18-05-07, 08:12 PM
wouldnt be too much considering they arent metal so minimal (if any) sanding would be required...probly round $200 for a good job.

menty
13-06-07, 04:25 PM
Awesomeo.

Cressidas are extremely underrated.... isnt a Cressida in Australias fastest RWD running street radials Top 10 ? Runs 10.28 or something?

nath
15-06-07, 07:11 PM
ok if you have to buy a boat, why not a 4dr R32/33, or early model soarer?

Surely one AUDM cressida per lifetime is enough????

his names shane and he runs flat 10s now. mind you, thats got a 1JZGTE twin turbo in it and its heavily worked and on NOS. but yes, cressidas are very underrated. most people think grandpa car when they think cressida...but not many grandpas can slide them either.

Been looking at Soarers as a next car lately. Will probably be one of them, or an ae86
