Hey All,

As some of you might know I had my Twin Turbo Soarer for sale for a while and finally it went to a new home :)

Well thanks to a few contributing influences like WTF33R (Samuel) and the 4drs and taxis section on SAU, I managed to search high and low and found my new ride :) Basically the specs are as follows so far and I will get some better pics when I give it a wash on the weekend:

1996 Series 2 R33 4dr

Not a bad idea, but I'm pretty happy with it as is at the moment as it also came with blue halogen parkers/headlights and side clear indicators :)

Glad i was of assistance in some way. Looks hot in black and the wedsports suit it well. Wouldnt be in sydney by any chance?

Keep the stock sedan front bar. It makes you different to every R33 coupe out there. TEAM 4 DOOR FTW!

I originally wanted a Soarer. How does the 1J Compare to the RB25?

Yes Sam I'm on the Northern Beaches, I really like the factory front of the 4drs and once I get some sideskirts and a few little mods, it will be pretty complete :)

The 1j was a little more linear (twin Turbo) than the RB25, but I know once I have a FMIC and a little more boost power should be much the same and I am really impressed with build quality of the R33 feels really stable especially on some of the local windy roads :)

Looking good!
The reason why the RB25 isnt linear may be because there is a solenoid that makes the car boost at 5psi below 5000rpm, then over 5000rpm it will open and let the wastegate open at 7psi.

Im not game to take the airbag steering wheel off and fit my momo. dont really want the $20000 fine

We'll have to get a pic of the 2 sedans next to each other.

My car was actually imported and complied with a sports steering wheel :-o  It even came in with the boss kit box still in the boot?

I'd be happy to get both the sedans together especially as series 2's aren't to common... And the silver and black will definately look good together :)

but i like the new rims!!! u gona drop the sky?

phillb
16-06-07, 12:44 AM
The reason I sold the Soarer was I needed a more user friendly car as it had a really low Body Kit:
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u134/phillb57/Soarer%20JZZ30/Dsidefront.jpg

Having already owned a Cefiro, I always had a thing for four door sports cars and after finding this gem I couldnt resist, being black and well modded of course!
The car has coilovers and is already quite low, though I am on the hunt for some sideskirts to make the car appear lower and I also want to flare/roll the guards out to fit an even lower offset rim :) As there is always a place for VIP even in a car that will happily get me around a track or to have fun in a Motorkhana!

I could go on and on as to why the R33 4dr appealed to ME. but I know it would bore everybody....

It probably doesn't handle too bad actually, what with the rear doors offsetting the donk over the front wheels and everything.:D

I also did some research on my coilovers and found I have the following:

Apexi World Sport Dampers :):

In line with the concept pursued by the Apexi World Sport Muffler line, the Apexi World Sport Damper Systems reflect A'PEX's interpretation of how a car's suspension should have felt and responded right from the factory. When developing suspension systems, car manufacturers generally tend to lean toward softer ride and cost-savings while sacrificing performance and safety. A'PEX responded by developing World Sport Damper Systems - an affordable line of coil-over suspension systems which enhance driver feedback and response, with good overall ride quality. Apexi has selected a monotube gas shock design and valved it specifically for the daily commuter who loves to drive. The adjustable perch allows ride height to be adjusted quickly with a spanner wrench. World Sport Damper Systems use the highest quality materials and are manufactured in-house at Apexi's Fuji, Japan factory to tightly monitor quality control and ensure years of reliable service.

Hey Sam, I saw how you finally made it to coilovers :) Your car is looking much better now!!

As far as fuel economy goes I'm getting about 10-11L/100ks at the moment as I'm fairly conservative with my fuel and do alot of driving off boost "Grandpa style" .

I say it everytime, if you get a Series2 R33 with a sports steering wheel, check it for accident damage. Seems very common that they're crashed and the wheel is replaced with a sports one rather than a new airbag wheel.

Know a few people who've bought bent skylines because of this.

Also any chance of changing the 4 door rear end for the far sexier 2 door? :p Although I don't think it's easy at all. lol.

Thats the risk you take with imports, though I have been over mine with a fine tooth comb and it has 0 accident damage :)
The steering wheel is purely personal preference, I see lots of late model imports with sports steering wheels and I'm sure that are not all are damaged as it can cause alot of problems with the new import laws.
Why suggest a change from 4 to 2 door lights and join the masses???

Well its been awhile since last update, so I thought I'd add a bit of DIY I did on the weekend as my brakes were squealing abit in the rear, so I headed out to Mu Secret and picked up some type NS for the rear and decided I'd put them in my self using the following:

With a bit of help I pulled the pins out and it looks like the factory pads were still in there as they had worn down to about 5mm off the backing plate:

Now it was fun pulling the pins out and of course the protective guards  !
But I got them out and used a flat piece of cardboard to push the piston back in and hey presto:

So now the car is ready for it's second skidpan outing at Eastern Creek this Saturday and braking has improved greatly :)

How much were your rear pads from MU Phil, and did you notice a big difference.

After the skid pan I noticed mine could do with a change(hint hint);)

Yeah mate my pads held up perfectly as after that and Oran North on Sunday they were still fantastic without any brake fade at all! Have a look in the sponsors section on NSCC or here, I paid about $130 from Craig ;)

Yeah I know that, but it is a VERY popular mod that the Japanese like to do.

Popular the world over no?

But congrats on buying the car. Will certainly be unique on the streets :)
