Holy shit!

Wow. That's one nice Evo!!
Whilst I wouldn't do it myself, I actually quite like the interior. Classy and not over the top. Thumbs up man.

fukking beautifull, not a fan of the interior tho.
how do you find the reversing camera on the pioneer deck? ive got the AVH-P7950DVD and im thinking of installing a camera. where is it mounted?
some demo pics would be sweet ;)
the reversing camera is awesome i love it
i have to park in a lot of tight spots so it definately comes in handy
the camera is a viscom one, i searched for weeks until i found one with mounting points that i could use. this one has the mounts on a ring around the camera, i bent up a roofing bracket i had and then attached this to the camera mounts so its exactly how i wanted it.
you can *just* see it above my number plate in the centre. you can see the silver bracket, i still have to spray it black so you cant see it.
ill take some demo pics and post them up :)

cheers mate, i love a bit of DIY here and there. whats the camera worth if you dont mind me asking.
it was about 200 off the top of my head
wheels look hot on the car..
looking good
Just quietly, I think the interior is horrid. But the rest of the package more than makes up for it. Hottest Evo EVER! Kudos to you mate :)
One of the best Evo's i have seen and im loving the advans

How's the clutch? I hate my twin plate, it's a bitch to use and nearly impossible on a steep hill to hill start without doing a 6000rpm launch!!!
I love it man!
You did it Perfectly! You gotta have some interior in there!!
Platinum is the best for it! ahah!
could do with a fatter bodykit. Would make it so hot.

very nice evo. though interior isnt my cup of tea.
Am I the only one who reckons the IX is a better looking car than the X?
nope, I agree 100% :)
nope, I agree 100% :)
as do i
it wasnt too heavy damage, mainly cosmetic and easily fixable :)
i just decided to replace anything i found even slightly damaged so the car is like brand new when i get it back
and then once i started doing that, i thought, fuck it lets pull the engine too
and then u know how it goes
now i suddenly have a new engine full of cosworth internals ready to go in.... hehehe
should have it back within a month or so depending on when the engine gets finished
some of you may have already seen it at a certain workshop sitting in the corner :)
teaser....
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y39/xcuzme/23012008617.jpg

doing a few cosmetic things too, cant wait to get it back... ive been way too lazy, should of got it done at least 4 months ago :)

Your car is slow Georgie....
Ill race ya anyday.. haha...
How you been Mate.. Need to catch up for a coffee soon mate... :)
The interior is very classy. i like it alot! Quite a rapid departure from the bland looking stock IX interior.

cosworth stuff isnt that much more expensive than other brands, i was quite suprised.
ive always been a fan of cosworth stuff ever since dreaming of escort cosworths as a kid :) and i like their reputation for being unbreakable
i want to do it once and never do it again haha
boost, not sure yet. it should take 1.7 bar without even raising a sweat
crazy mofo! Cant even handle stock power, so gets more, I like it hah
shane should stick to setting mr2s on fire and shutting up :)
and its started up for the first time in 10 months
took a few cranks to get some fuel through the system then fired up easily :)
we were missing a gasket for the exhaust so only the dump pipe was connected so its a bit loud
you can hear the nice lumpy idle of those cosworth cams now :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BM_CZl5lRDk
I wish you could leave it like that - it sounds so damn cool!!! :D
sounds very very... musical.
good stuff, i know the feeling when you get ur car back.
Let us know the result once is run in
Was this at Touge Tune??
Garage looks abit like it..
:P
woah!
that thing sounds like a machine!
a really nice evo, even though im not feeling the interior everything else is WOW!
Fark George, that sounds hot mate...I see you put the rims back on, it didn't have it the other week when it was sitting out front of IS...
Damn you people and your cool mods...stop tempting me!
the interior is because the car is my daily driver, i like it comfy and fast. couldnt afford an e55 or e63 so the evo is a compromise :P
manny yeah i put the rims back on against everyones wishes lol
everytime i looked at it with those stockies and bubbled tyres, it made me angry.
the stockies can hide in the corner of my garage now :)
elwood, its at is motor racing

the rims are most definitely the stand out of this car, very very cool!
looking good george, didn't realize it had been off the road so long, don't know how you kept sane knowing it was sitting there
Oh wow, i've seen this sitting out front of IS a few times i didn't know it was this car. That brace you've got over the front looks sweet mate. I saw this today actually, and Indy in a og jdmst shirt, made me smile.
very nice car mate... $5 on that clutch not lasting first time into postive presure :D
i lost my sanity long ago from my job, the car doesnt bother me haha
yeah buddah thats the one. im a big fan of the cusco brace as well, looks mean. only problem is now, i got it and wasnt sure how it would look because no one had it. now that i have it, everyone wants it :(
hehe the jdmst pepsi shirt, hes representing!
the clutch will be fine with positive pressure. its the amount of 6k launches it will handle that im concerned about. im not a big fan of the sports organic personally or how it engages, im on my second one already. but indy knows im a psycho and wont let me have anything stronger :)
WTF, meanest sounding Evo ever! Sounds excellent!
you guys havent heard enough mean sounding evos
this thing is TAME :)
wait till i put my jasma approved exhaust back on all. all you will hear is a rough quiet idle ;)

I wanna get some cams soon too for my car hehe....
If i do change the cams like u do, anything else i need to change to accompany it incase something breaks down??
i lost my sanity long ago from my job, the car doesnt bother me haha

well when it blow's "which it will" . we have used full brass unsprung, cushioned button etc, harshest of the harsh and theyve all blown with a lightly modded race evo 9... track car, stdish engine etc... good luck, your gona need a twin plate of some sort.
VERY nice car btw, me like's
ed: you should at a minimum do valve springs and titanium retainers
and cam gear (only on exhaust), cant change the mivec intake one.
thats a minimum :) you can get by without it, but the cosworth cams are 11 degree lift so its recommended to do it.
dead32: what the fk have you guys been doing with this car? launching? :)
plenty of people in the states are getting by with light clutches. twin plate is very popular though over there.
have you tried carbon clutches?
Edi-no-son
12-06-08, 02:39 AM
How much did all that cost ya man??
And what made u choose the cosworth??
My mind been more set on the HKS one... for no apparent reason except brand hahaha
dont ask me about cost :(
i ignore that word
go on evolutionm.net and research cams. see what the americans who actually know what they are talking about say :)
hks cams for evo 9s are nothing special at all. cosworths and gscs are by far the most popular and cosworth have a reputation for r&d and quality. hell they were making parts for jun before, i think they still are too.
hks pfft you jdm whore haha

You mean until full boost :D I see exgate
ps straight pipe or GTFO
yeh until full boost haha
its actually a lot louder than before just with the turbo change. it has this loud rumble on low revs that quietens down in midrange
unfortunately gate is recirc :( i want the car to be legal :(
hence quiet exhaust, recirc wastegate, airbox, heatshield over turbo etc etc

wd mate, keep it up
awesomeeee
only thing i would have done different is HPC the exhaust manifold
i know! :(
biggest regret of mine
when we put the manifold on, it looked like it had some sort of coating on it, almost looked like teflon.
as soon as we put it on and out in the rain it rusted straight away.
im spewing about that :(
Sounds hot dude... Love it...

anf: its as detailed as its getting mate haha, its built to be driven not to be wanked over :P
jaze, didnt need any spacers. my dump pipe (smb) clears both the factory and aftermarket bars.
broseph: a lot of guys in the states run stock ecus all the way up to 500hp or so, the factory ecu is very capable (well at least the us spec one is) and i wanted to try something different. plus all the factory knock control etc made me want to keep it.
but looks like fcon pro will replace it very soon along with some 1000cc injectors :)
Hey George. You didnt answer me.
The underbody chassis bars, Do you think they have made a difference? How do you rate them? Is the difference noticable?

Alex

big fan of the carbon skirts!
I dont mind the carbon skirts either... definatly unique!
i abuse the dodgy mechanics :)
haha yes chris is the dodgy head
tonba, sorry mate completely missed it.
i did notice a fair difference on my car, definately felt a lot more tighter all over. car is a lot more stable and chuckable, feels like an even tighter go kart now :)
another upside is even with the edfc on the hardest settings, the interior doesnt rattle like shit anymore when i hit a bump which is strange

Why dont you go for a Motec instead of F-Con??

I actually wanted to compare your dyno sheets - 2months ago vs a week ago.
2kw's difference means IS's dyno is pretty fucking consistent if you ask me - dunno where the 7% comes from...
well as much as i love this car
the end of my lease is fast approaching, so for those who are interested in owning a 305kw daily driver built tough as fuck, enquire within.
serious buyers only, if you pm me and offer me 30k, ill hunt you down and have sex with your sister
Considering how much you have put into that car why don't you pay out the lease and keep it. If not, whats next :?:
im thinking of keeping it but then id have to leave it at my parents house because i only have one spot at my place...
im looking at getting an 05 m3 cabrio or something like that
and then next year by a thrash car when i move out of here and get a house :)

freakin shit man. Very, Very Nice. Thats how it should look bro. Good stuff and good luck with it....
Those wheels are beautiful mate!

Nice build & ride; probably not the turbo I would use on a 4 banger due to lag. If its stroker with plenty of revs and top end power is your goal, your not far from it.
the lag doesnt really matter when you fly past cars like they are stationary with a vertical power curve

Dont get me wrong I think your car is awesome, it appears the set up and the direction is more suited to "drag car" racing.
awesome car mate, well done. have u ran this thing down wsid yet? what et are u expecting?
