Hey guys,
We've created this thread for people to get an insight into the type of detailing work that we do and to showcase some of our work.
Here's a little write up of a Red Mitsubishi Evolution VI Tommi Makinen Edition we recently detailed for Xtreme Motorsports (JDMST Sponsors).
The vehicle had arrived in this state from Japan and the paintwork had a multitude of contaminants ranging from tree sap, bird droppings, salts, road tar and the paint was beginning to show signs of oxidation and fade on the roof, boot and bonnet.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Front3before.jpg
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Bonnetscoopbefore.jpg
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Rearbootoxidized.jpg
After a brief discussion with the customer we decided to go ahead with our Enthusiast Package, including a full interior/exterior detail with a two stage polish on the paintwork to prepare the vehicle for sale.
Interior:
- Full dust and wipe down of all interior surfaces and plastics using MF towel 1:32 APC (All purpose cleaner) solution and a selection of detailing brushes.
- Full interior vacuum including seat crevices, console, carpet, floor mats and boot cargo area
- Recaro seats spot cleaned, conditioned and protected
- All interior plastics, consoles, dashboard and interior trims protected with Aerospace 303 UV Protectant
Apologies in advance for the no0b amateur pix
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Dashboardafter.jpg
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Driverclusterafter.jpg
Exterior:
- Part 1 of decontamination process - Autobrite Supa Snow Foam 1:5 and APC solution are applied to the exterior including wheels (Foam soak) and left to soak for 3-5 minutes, this process helps to 'loosen' the dirt and contaminants embedded in the paintwork and wheels and also helps to break down any wax or residue on the surface
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Frontduring.jpg
- Duragloss 821 Wheel Cleaner was applied to the wheels and left to dwell for two minutes to work in and break down the build up of grease, brake dust and dirt caked on the white wheels and red Brembo calipers, we then agitated the dirt and contaminants with wheel brushes and a wheel sponge then high pressure rinsed each wheel and the wheel wells
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Frontleftwheelfoamwash.jpg
- Next up the vehicle was washed with Duragloss 901 Car Wash Concentrate using the two bucket method, followed by a thorough high pressure rinse to all areas and hand drying the surface with a thick MF waffle weave towel
- The engine bay was also rinsed under low pressure and generously sprayed with 1:4 APC solution. Dirty and greasy areas were agitated with engine brushes to remove the dirt and then rinsed. Finally, the engine was dressed with a few sprays of Autoglym Super Sheen and left to dry - we'll come back for a quick wipedown of the engine bay after the final wash.
- Now that the body is clean(ish), we begun the second stage of the decontamination process - Clay barring the body. Our weapon of choice for this vehicle was our Dodo Juice Gentle Grey Clay Bar using a 1:10 solution of Dodo Juice Born Slippy and a MF cloth to wipe down each section
As can be seen in the below pictures, clay barring is an important step in the process especially in Japanese imports as vehicles over there are often subjected to a harsh environment - contaminants from the salty air, acid rain, bird droppings and rail dust combined with other dirt accumulated whilst transporting the vehicle is embedded into the paintwork.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Claybarbonnet.jpg
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Claybarrearboot.jpg
After clay barring the body, we taped up all of the body trims, badges and some of the Tommi Makinen stickers with 3M Automotive tape (low adhesive) to prepare the vehicle for the dual stage machine polish.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Front2tapedup.jpg
Stage 1 of the machine polish with minor correction - Machine used: Festool Shinex RAP 150 with Menzerna Power Finish OEM P0203S and Festool medium cut orange pad. The purpose of this first pass is to eliminate the oxidiation on the boot, roof and bonnet along with some of the lighter swirls in the paintwork.
Careful attention was also given to delicate areas of the body, such as the bonnet grille and door trim surrounds which didn't have a suitable large enough surface for the machine. These parts of the body were carefully polished by hand.
Stage 2 machine polish - Machine used: Festool Random Orbital ETS 150/5 with Menzerna Final Finish OEM Hi Gloss PO85RD and Festool White Honeycomb fine cut pad. This was the final polish, emphasizing on removing any smaller imperfections and bringing out a really nice gloss in the paintwork.
After removing the rest of the 3M tape from the body, the vehicle was again washed with Duragloss 901 Car Wash Concentrate using the two bucket method to remove all dirt and dust from the machine polishing, followed by a thorough final high pressure rinse.
After carefully hand drying the vehicle with our thick Waffle Weave MF towel, we hand applied a two stage Duragloss sealant (601 +105) to ensure the restored paintwork was well protected.
While we left the sealant to work into the paint and cure, we completed the windows with Stoners Invisible Glass, polished the exhaust tips with Purple Polish and finished off wiping down any excess water and product from the engine bay. Finally, we also quickly sprayed over and wiped down the white Enkei's with Aquawax and dressed the tyres Autobrite Cherry Tyre Gel.
After a good 30-40 minutes, the sealant was cured enough and was carefully hand buffed twice with fresh high grade MF towels and finished with Aquawax to reveal that awesome showroom shine.
Here are a few before and after pictures of the process and the final finish! Enjoy.

Hey guys,
Here's another example we did today. This customer's TT was shat upon by one angry bird. Unfortunately, the mess was left on the vehicle for about two weeks and all attempts he has made since to remove the caked on stains weren't successful.
After a few tries with our combination of compounds, products and equipment, we resorted to carefully wet-sanding the stains off very slowly by hand which eventually did the trick. We then machine cut and polished the area, before protecting the vehicle with a multi layered high quality sealant.
Here's a few teaser pics... the rest of them can be found on our Facebook Page - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Obsessive-Compulsive-Detailing/185525741499990

Hi Snoop G,
Thanks for your reply.
I'm a better detailer than photographer and the lighting was probably not the best... =P you can see the difference in gloss on the carbon bonnet but as for the paint, you won't be able to see the difference unless your up close or in person.
Further to this, the car wasn't extremely dirty as it was only driven at WTAC, just needed cleaning up for the photoshoot.
Not Photochopping here except for adding the logos... =)

Lionel.

Thanks Shane!! Love the livery on your car...
We can certainly detail over your signage/livery just depends on your requirements, to be safe I would probably recommend against a machine polish such as in our Enthusiast Packages etc. to ensure your vinyls remain in tact. Take a look at our services page (http://www.ocdonline.com.au/services.html) to see what would most suit your needs and if you have any further questions, feel free to contact me directly on 0425 492 825 or info@ocdonline.com.au
Yeah, Steve, Dennis' and Matt's GT-R's were done pretty recently and Roland's Charlotte Green NSX was a pleasure to work with.

Hey Ty,
Thanks for the support.
I use a range of washes, one that I use more often is Duragloss 901 (http://www.carcareproducts.com.au/product/duragloss/car_wash_concentrate). Works very well and leaves a clean, sharp finish and is concentrated quite well too...

Here's some more work we completed for the boys at Top Secret Imports today:
V35 <3... These before/after pictures don't do it justice but being up close and personal with the paint we could really make out the stains and marks on the paintwork before we buffed them out. It took a little longer than usual on the machine to bring it up to spec but it turned out great in the end.
Another beast ready for the showroom!

Euro awesomeness to end the week.... TGIF =D
We carried out an Enthusiast Package detail to this vehicle a few months back.
As the vehicle had not been detailed for a while, the wax originally applied was also starting to wear off.
We booked the vehicle in for a Deluxe Wash & Wax + Hand Wax upgrade (http://www.ocdonline.com.au/services.html). We stripped down the old wax and applied a fresh layer, leaving the car with an unmistakable gleam and ensuring it was well protected for at least another few months. Enjoy.

Another EVO completed for Top Secret Imports.
This one had already been sold, only thing left to do was give it a full pre-delivery detail.
The interior was in excellent condition to begin with but the black metallic paintwork was in need of some careful attention, you could see it was a little faded in some areas and had light marks from wear and tear all over.

We worked on this Hyundai i30 this afternoon. The owner of the vehicle wanted to give the car a thorough once over as it was used as a daily driver since new for about three years and had a few wear and tear marks on the paintwork that needed attention.
This vehicle presented a good opportunity for us to showcase a few different things as it had a few tar spots, stubborn scuff marks and embedded contaminants that all needed attention.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Webshot1-18.jpg
After cleaning up the interior, engine bay and wheels, we turned our attention to the paintwork.
Started out by thoroughly washing the vehicle using the two bucket method. After rinsing the vehicle, we clay-barred each panel, gradually pulling off three years worth of contaminants embedded on the paintwork.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Clay-NSRroof1.jpg
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Clay-OSRdoor12.jpg
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Clay-Frontbar10.jpg
There were a few marks and scuffs all over the paintwork.
This mark on the rear right passenger door looked like some sort of paint scuff mark.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/OSRdoorscuffbefore.jpg
After a few unsuccessful attempts at removing the marks by machine, we decided to wet sand the mark, which proved much more effective.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/OSRdoorscuffduring.jpg
This produced the results we were after, so after wet sanding the marks off, we machined polished the area to a high shine.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/OSRdoorscuffafter.jpg
There were also a few tar spots collected behind the front wheel arches. We treated these first by spraying them with a tar removal solution (Tardis), allowing it to work for a few minutes.

This was followed by a full vehicle foam soak and thorough wash.

We then clay barred the panel to remove any remaining tar residue.

The plastic lower door trims were also starting to show signs of fade, we restored these back up to a full solid colour and a nice low sheen finish

We worked on this Honda Accord Euro this afternoon. The owner was a little concerned about a long scratch/scuff across the front of the bonnet and needed it corrected before putting the vehicle up for sale.
A natural based carnauba wax was also selected to finish off the paintwork, revealing a deep natural shine.

Prepared this NA Supra for sale this afternoon.
The car is usually parked outside and is exposed to the full elements, this was beginning to show as the paintwork was pretty oxidized on the roof and bonnet. It had lost most of the gloss, was quite 'dull' looking and started to look a little powdery.
We brought the paintwork back up to standard with a single stage machine polish, taking care of most of the marks on the paintwork and removing the oxidation.

Some exceptional results achieved for the owner of this IS200 this afternoon. We carried out our Mini-Detail (http://www.ocdonline.com.au/services.html) to bring out a nice gloss in the paintwork with a decent hand-polish and high quality wax. The headlights were quite faded and yellow so were also treated with a full headlight restoration, including some light wet sanding work and a machine polish.

We ended 2011 with a bang, detailing this Black Nissan Cube at Xtreme Motorsports this afternoon.
One of the most challenging combinations to work with, Black Paintwork and a light creamy interior.
We started out on the interior, cleaning up the dirty/dusty door jambs before setting out on the cream interior. The roof-lining was given a full scrub down, all trims were cleaned up and the seats, carpets and mats were fully shampooed.

We expected the paintwork to have a few wear marks being a black vehicle. After letting the whole vehicle soak in a foaming solution to break down and help strip some of the surface contaminants, we thoroughly washed the paintwork using the 'two-bucket method' before clay-barring the surface to a smooth finish.
After hand drying the car, we used a light cut polishing compound to rejuvenate the black metallic paintwork by machine and cleanse it of the visible light oxidation, fade and stains. Finishing off the paintwork with a high quality wax brought out a nice mirror like gloss, significantly improving the appearance of the whole car, whilst leaving it well protected.

Some more Euro action this week with another fantastic BMW given some OCD love.
One of our regular customers recently traded up to a brand new BMW 1M in Alpine White. After driving the vehicle around for a while to break her in, he appointed us to give it a thorough once over with our Mini Detail Package (http://www.ocdonline.com.au/services.html).
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Webshot9-9.jpg
As a new vehicle, we didn't expect to have many issues with the paintwork, and we didn't. The dirt accumulated from the drive loosened up with our foaming soak wash and easily washed off.
We did notice some slight discoloration on the rear leather seats, what initially looked like dye transfer - but the owner later explained it to be excess sunscreen left on the seats whilst coming in/out of the rear passenger seats. A very light scrub with a soft leather brush, followed by a matt finish dressing helped restore it to a nice and clean factory finish.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Rearseatsbefore-2.jpg
AFTER
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Rearseatsafter-2.jpg
The exhaust also had quite a bit of grime and as the vehicle had been sitting in the garage for a couple of weeks, the caked on dirt and grease had become really stubbornly fixed to the chrome tips. Nothing a bit of elbow grease, metal polish and OCD love couldn't fix though.
BEFORE
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Exhaustbefore-6.jpg
AFTER
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Exhaustafter-6.jpg
The engine bay, boot and door jambs were also thoroughly cleaned. We noticed that from the factory, runs and stains from excess grease on the hinges had left a thick and sticky yellowy residue that was pretty unsightly to look at. (Unfortunately we weren't able to get close ups).

We were contacted by the owner of this Holden Barina recently to work on a few marks on the paintwork.
Unfortunately, somebody (whom we shall name 'x') decided it would be a good idea to use a dish-washing scourer to clean off some marks and stains off the paintwork. Since it worked so well on the first bit of bird poo, 'x' decided to do the whole car, only to find out later on that maybe it wasn't such a good idea. Enter OCD.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Front2before-13.jpg
Many of the scratches were quite deep, we rated them between medium to heavy on average. Also, it looked like the vehicle had a recent altercation with a painted wall or painted surface of some sort, as there were plenty of paint scuff marks around the rear right wheel arch. We started on the scuff marks - after giving the car a thorough wash and hand drying it completely, we took care of the marks by wet-sanding them down carefully and gradually using varying levels of sanding discs (1500 - 5000 grit).
BEFORE
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Scuffmarksbefore.jpg
AFTER
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Scuffmarksafter.jpg
Next, we proceeded to correct the medium to heavy scratches around the car. This was also done in stages, to ensure the best possible result and finish. After measuring the thickness of the paint with our PTG (Paint Thickness Guage) to make sure there was enough to work with, a heavy cut pad coupled with a strong compound was used on the first stage with our rotary machine polisher. This cut through most of the surface scratches and greatly improved the overall finish. More time and extra care was given on and around the actual scratches.

AFTER
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Bonnetafter-5.jpg
We then went around the paintwork a second time, this time using a softer finishing pad and a light cut, high gloss compound along with our random orbital polisher. This faster, final stage machine polish cut the surface very lightly but focused on enhancing the gloss levels, ensuring a nice and even finish.
With the vehicle successfully completed, we observed that most of the scratches were corrected significantly. Although the heavier scratches remained, they were a lot less obvious and we had to actually 'look' for them or catch them in the right light instead of them sticking out like an eyesore. The paint scuff marks were also completely gone, like they were never there to begin with and the minor stains and imperfections along the paintwork had also been rectified - the red paintwork appeared a lot deeper and reflective from all angles.

AFTER

A fantastic result overall and for 'x', dare we say a lesson learned.
Moral of the story: Leave the scourer in the kitchen and a good quality MF Mitt (http://www.carcareproducts.com.au/product/mint/microfibre_plush_wash_mitt) with your detailing buckets instead.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Webshot2-18.jpg
The car was in pretty clean condition to begin with. We started with the interior, cleaning out all crevices in between the plastics and vents, console and in between the seat seams etc before giving it a full and thorough vacuum. Once that was done, all trims and the seats were dressed with a matt finish protectant, leaving it with a nice and clean factory finish.

AFTER

After the Engine Bay and Alloys were given a thorough once over, we proceeded with the paintwork. The silver metallic did very well to conceal the dirt but up close we observed a fine layer of dust/dirt on the surface as well as a build up of insect splatter and other contaminants on the lower part of the front bar.
The vehicle was treated with a full foam soak to let these contaminants loosen up before the whole car was carefully washed and hand dried. We used a high quality wax to leave the paintwork with a nice blingy finish while leaving it well protected.

We worked pretty vigilantly on this Ford Territory this afternoon.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Webshot4-20.jpg`
As a family driven daily driver, there was quite a bit of dirt, food stains, spills and wear and tear marks especially on the interior that needed a lot of TLC. The seats were given a full and thorough clean, the crevices were also cleaned out before dressing the full interior in a clean low gloss protectant.

OCD worked on this 400kw R34 GT-R yesterday. Last time we detailed it was in preparation for WTAC at Eastern Creek and since then it has featured (http://www.the-lowdown.com/steve-ka-update/) on The-Lowdown and has also seen a couple of track days. Steve gave us a ring to give it a nice clean before it's next outing.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Webshot4-21.jpg
There was a steady build up of road tar, tyre shreds and insect splatter around the vehicle which was to be expected from the track work. Fortunately, as we hand waxed the front bar last time in anticipation of this, the grime and build up washed off relatively easily.

Obsessive Compulsive Detailing worked long and hard on this 1 Series yesterday.
The owner had the vehicle since new, but the car hadn't been detailed in over six years of ownership. After inspecting the vehicle on site, we recommended a multiple stage machine polish to bring the black metallic paintwork back to life and booked in a full day to carry out our Enthusiast Package (http://www.ocdonline.com.au/services.html) detail.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Webshot14-4.jpg
The paintwork itself was in reasonable condition. There were a few scratches, scuffs and general wear and tear marks on the car as can be expected from day to day driving. There wasn't any major damage to any of the panels though or fade on the clear coat. The owner did point out a couple of deeper scuff marks from a scooter, which we recommended wet-sanding first.
Our first order of the day was to get the interior looking nice and fresh again. We started out by giving it a good dust down, cleaning all surfaces and getting into hard to reach areas with a selection of detailing brushes. This was then followed by a thorough vaccuum, before all trims, consoles and the seats were finally treated with a matt finish protectant. The door jambs were also cleaned inside the doors and boot.

AFTER
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Psideinteriorafter-2.jpg
With the interior taken care of, our next step was the alloys and engine bay. The wheels had a steady build up of dirt and brake dust which we slowly and carefully cleaned up. The wheel wells were also brushed down and rinsed out with a high pressure washer and the tyres were also given a quick scrub.

The engine bay was lightly degreased and fully cleansed too before being dressed with a low sheen protectant.

The paintwork was next. The whole car was firstly treated with a full foam soak and left to dwell for about five minutes. In this time, the foam solution would help to loosen the dirt and build up on the car, ready for it to be safely washed. We used the proven two-bucket method to thoroughly wash and rinse the vehicle one section at a time.

DURING - FOAM SOAK IN ACTION
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Frontduring-13.jpg
After washing the car, we clay barred all exterior painted surfaces. Any embedded contaminants on the surface of the paint which gave it that 'rough' feel were slowly pulled off onto the clay bar, leaving behind a nice smooth finish.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Claybartreatment3.jpg
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Claybartreatment1.jpg
The vehicle was then carefully hand dried and taped up, ready for the machine polishing stage.
We also took this time to wet-sand some of the deeper scuff marks the owner showed us earlier.

Now the real work begins. We carried out a full multiple stage machine polish to really bring back some clarity and depth in the factory black paint. The first two stages involved a full slow Rotary Machine Polish using a heavy cut compound and both a heavy cut wool pad for the first stage and a medium cut orange pad for the second. This stage focused on correcting the marks, swirls and scratches on the paintwork, removing a fine layer to reveal a deep, glossy finish.
On the final stage, we switched to a Random Orbital Machine polisher, using a light cut/high gloss compound and a finishing pad to take care of any fine marks left from the first two stages and really help enhance the paintwork further with a nice, reflective shine.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/NSFqtrscuffafter.jpg
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Frontafter-22.jpg
Below are a few photos while we corrected a few of the panels, highlighting sections before and after we've performed the machine polish.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Paintcorrection5050shot2.jpg
Finally, we sealed the vehicle with a quality dual stage synthetic sealant to give the paint extra bling factor and more importantly to protect it from contaminants and build up in future. This was left on the vehicle to cure for about 45 minutes before we hand polished it off to reveal a stunning showroom finish.
It was certainly rewarding to see our efforts had paid off after a hard days work, leaving the owner thoroughly impressed.

We got a call from a regular customer as she was concerned about a few marks on her vehicle left on the paintwork and glass from a recent camping trip. On initial inspection, the tiny little dots all over the car looked like sand or salts that had been embedded on the car, the owner also mentioned it could have been residue from nearby trees she parked under overnight and the heat from the sun during the day essentially baked it onto the paintwork.
The glass and paintwork was firstly treated to a full foam soak to loosen up the contaminants before we carefully hand washed the paintwork. Next, we treated the whole vehicle with a clay bar to remove the surface contaminants before applying a high quality wax to seal the renewed paint - leaving it glossy and sharp!

OCD recently worked on this tough looking EVO IX.
The owner, one of our regular customers mentioned that the paint was feeling a little rough and on our initial inspection he pointed out a few small orange and black dots suspected as tree sap from a tree near to where he parks.
In addition to the interim Deluxe Wash & Wax (http://www.ocdonline.com.au/services.html) we treated the whole vehicle with a fine grade clay bar to gently and slowly pull off the contaminants embedded on the paintwork, leaving behind an ultra smooth finish.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Claybar1-2.jpg
After cleansing the paintwork, we locked in the renewed gloss and smooth finish with a high quality wax.

We spent most of the day working on this neat Type X today.
The owner booked in a full Enthusiast Package (http://www.ocdonline.com.au/) to bring out the best in his car.
Apart from it being quite dirty, the paintwork was in pretty good condition. After washing the vehicle we thoroughly clay barred the car to pull off the stubborn contaminants embedded on the surface.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Claybar1-3.jpg
A full two stage machine polish was carried out to the paintwork. A medium cut was carried out on the first stage with a Rotary machine, followed by a full polish finishing stage carried out with the Random Orbital machine.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/PaintCorrectionphotos14.jpg
To seal in the renewed gloss and leave the car protected, we hand applied a high quality carnauba based wax to give the white some extra bling, leaving it ultra glossy and super reflective. Another great turnaround for this vehicle for one happy customer.

We worked on this Elgrand for Sydney Car Sales this afternoon.
The vehicle was in great condition but we prepared it thoroughly inside out in preparation for the showroom floor. There were a few minor stains and surface imperfections on the paintwork that were corrected with a thorough single stage machine polish. The paintwork was then protected with a high quality wax, leaving it with a glimmering shine.

We worked on this 3 series a little earlier in the week and thought we’d do a little write up as we do get a few enquiries regarding this type of correction work. Chemical stains, predominantly as a result of calcium leaching is becoming a common problem especially in undercover car parks. The main cause of the problem is a combination of materials which do not allow for building movement and the use of inferior liquid applied membranes.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Bonnetbefore-7.jpg`
In short, water gets into the little cracks in the concrete and mixes with the calcium oxide (an ingredient in the cement) which triggers a chemical reaction and transforms into a calcium hydroxide solution, commonly referred to as ‘lime-water’. Once this lime-water secretes through the cracks it reacts with the carbon dioxide in the air and begins to solidify as calcium carbonate. So, when lime-water drips from the piping or cracks in the concrete onto your car and reacts with the air, it leaves a solid white coloured stain on your paintwork, which looks very unsightly and is very difficult to remove. Traditional hand washing, polishing or clay barring techniques will not remove the stains at all and if incorrect methods are used such as hard scrubbing or harsh products, even more damage can be caused.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Bonnet2before-3.jpg
OCD has a proven, methodical process to remove these stains. It takes a bit of time but we ensure all deposits are safely removed without affecting the paintwork. If calcium leaching is a problem in your building or you know of anyone that has been affected by it, as much as possible try to remove the residue before it gets the chance to solidify and bond onto your paint with some clean, soapy water and a gentle MF mitt. If it's already left a nasty stain, email us a photo or give us a call and we can take a closer look on site.

We had the chance to work with this gorgeous Z yesterday.

Having recently purchased this immaculate example 350Z, the owner contacted Obsessive Compulsive Detailing to carry out a Mini Detail. The interior was given a thorough once over and treated with a low gloss UV protectant and the paintwork was also shown some love with a full foam soak, thorough foam wash and finished with a very high quality natural carnauba based wax to give some added depth and a fantastic glimmering shine.

We prepared this little beast last week. As a service vehicle that is on the road for most of the week, this little Smart Car needed some attention to bring it back up to standard. We carried out a full Mini-Detail, starting on the inside with a full clean, shampoo and extraction of the seats and carpets before dressing the trims in a low sheen UV protectant.

We then turned our attention to the exterior. The engine bay was given a full clean and the brake dust ridden alloys were also carefully brought back to life. Finally we took extra care to hand wax the exterior paintwork, carefully applying the wax evenly across the vinyl signage for an even and consistent finish.
