Hey everyone,

This thread is dedicated to JDMST member’s rides that have been proudly detailed by Obsessive Compulsive Detailing.

JDMST Member: PA70NG
Vehicle: Nissan 200SX S14a
Detail: OCD Customized Enthusiast Package

This incredible example of a well-kept Nissan 200SX S14a was left with us here at OCD for a whole week while the owner was overseas. It has been maintained very well and is garaged at night, plus on top of this the vehicle was also recently washed for the recent Motorex event, so we received it in pretty good condition to start with.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/NSRwheelbefore.jpg

The owner was advised from his previous detail that there wasn’t much paint/clear coat to work with. We took a few measurements of the paintwork to confirm this and recommended a slightly ‘toned-down’ version of our Enthusiast Package, exchanging the dual stage machine polish to a light single stage R/O polish with an ‘all-in-one’ compound to fill in some of the lighter swirls and bring out a nice gloss in the paintwork.

The owner also agreed to have his Work Rezax II’s hand polished and brought back to life and requested that we condition the leather seats with our specialist UV protectant.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/PTGroof.jpg

We started on the interior by cleaning and wiping down all surfaces and plastics with a low-pile MF cloth and a 1:32 APC solution to clean away the build-up of grime and dirt accumulated on the plastics and dashboard.

Selections of different sized detailing brushes were also used to draw out the dirt and dust lodged in the crevices and cracks of the interior.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Centreconsolebefore.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Centreconsoleafter.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Clusterbefore.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Clusterafter.jpg

We then gave the interior a thorough vacuum to extract all the dust and dirt, including the mats and seats.

After this we finished off the interior by applying our high quality 303 Aerospace protectant to restore some life and colour on the plastic surfaces, dashboard, surrounds and seats while giving the interior added UV protection at the same time. The interior looked fantastic once more and smelled great too thanks to our fresh deodorizer.

Exterior:

Now that the interior had been well taken care of, we proceeded with the exterior.

After a quick inspection we started off by giving the engine bay a thorough rinse and generously sprayed the engine bay with a 1:4 degreaser solution to help loosen the dirt and grease, agitating the dirt with engine brushes to get into those hard to reach areas. This was followed by a full soaking foam wash to the whole body and wheels.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Front3during.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Sideduring.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Rearduring.jpg

While letting the foam solution do its work, loosening the dirt and bringing the contaminants to the surface, we got stuck into the Work Rezax II’s with a gentle wheel brush to agitate the brake dust and grime and our wheel brushes to scrub away the built up dirt in the wheel wells.

By this time the solution had enough time to work through the body and we followed with a full wash of the entire vehicle using the ‘two-bucket method’ and finished with a thorough high pressure rinse of the vehicle, wheels, wheel wells and engine bay. We then sprayed the engine bay with Autoglym Super Sheen and let it sit while we carefully hand dried the vehicle with a waffle weave towel.

After hand drying off the vehicle we came back to the engine bay to wipe off any excess water and product and it was all done.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Enginebaybefore-1.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Enginebayafter-1.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Enginebay2before.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Enginebay2after.jpg

Our next step was to prepare the paintwork for a light machine polish. We did this by clay-barring the entire vehicle. We chose our ultra-reliable Dodo Juice Gentle Grey Clay Bar along with a 1:10 solution of Dodo Juice ‘Born Slippy’ Clay Lubricant and proceeded to clay bar the entire car surface. The paintwork was reasonably free from contaminants, but still needed to be clayed properly, with the bulk of the dirt coming off the rear bar and side skirts.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Claybar-1.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Claybarbonnet-1.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Claybarrearbar.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Clarbarbootlid.jpg

At this stage the vehicle had been properly cleaned using the two-bucket method, rinsed thoroughly and clay-barred to lift off most of the remaining contaminants embedded into the paintwork. The vehicle was now ready for the single stage machine polish.

As noted in the outset, there wasn’t much clear-coat left to work with so we opted to use our Random Orbital polisher with a Festool White (Fine Cut) Pad and an all-in-one Autobrite Cherry Glaze compound. We completed the vehicle at a relatively quick pace, with a focus on polishing and filling in any existing light swirls as opposed to correcting the paintwork (which is usually slower paced and more focused). All the while we were careful to keep an eye on the paintwork and ensure the surface wasn’t getting too hot.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Singlestagemachingpolish-CherryGlaze.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Singlestagemachinepolish.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Singlestagemachinepolish-rearbarafter.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Singlestagemachinepolishbootlid2.jpg

After the single stage machine polish, we washed the vehicle again to cleanse the paintwork of any residue and dust left from the machine polish.

Now that the vehicle has been thoroughly cleaned and machine polished, the final step is to protect the vehicles paintwork. We chose a high quality dual stage synthetic sealant, Duragloss 601 Bonding Agent was firstly applied sparingly to the vehicles entire surface, this was then followed by Duragloss 105 and left to haze for 30-40 minutes.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Supernaturallayeredover601105bonnet.jpg

While waiting for the sealant to cure, we completed the windows inside out with Stoner’s Invisible Glass and hand polished the chrome Work Rezax II’s with Autosol, buffing off any residue with a fresh MF cloth to bring out that gleaming shine!

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/NSRwheelbefore.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/WheelpolishOSFafter.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/WheelpolishOSRafter.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/WheelpolishOSRafter2.jpg

We also hand polished the blast pipes with Purple Polish after finishing off the wheels.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Exhausttipsbefore.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Blastpipesafter.jpg

By this stage, the Duragloss synthetic sealant had cured to a nice haze. After hand buffing the sealant to a nice shine, we left the vehicle for a few hours and then applied a final layer of Dodo Juice ‘Supernatural’ natural carnauba based wax to the vehicle and allowed it to cure overnight.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Singlestagemachinepolishpassengersideafter.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Supernaturallayeredover601105bonnet2.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Supernaturallayeredover601105-bootlid.jpg

The next day, we completed the vehicle by carefully removing the layer of Supernatural wax and hand buffing the vehicle twice over with fresh high quality MF towels, then finishing it off a light spray application of Duragloss’ Aquawax.
The finished result is an unmistaken deep gloss and renewed shine in the paintwork.

Here are a few pictures… enjoy!

Ryan contacted Obsessive Compulsive Detailing to prepare his vehicle for a Show'n'Shine event at this weekends World Time Attack event at Eastern Creek. We completed a Mini Detail to the vehicle and extra attention was also given to the headlights, which were starting to show a few signs of yellowing/fade.

Hung's Sportivo was in good condition but needed some love from the team at Obsessive Compulsive Detailing. After bringing it back up to standard, we finished the paintwork off with a high quality wax to bring out a nice gloss in the paint finish. The metallic flakes lit up nicely in the sun too.

Here's some work we did yesterday for a JDMST member. There were a couple of cars, an EVO VIII that we had previously carried out some correction work to a while back and a Nissan Skyline 300GT which was prepared for sale.

JDMST Member: RedDevil
Vehicle 1: Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VIII Red
Detail: OCD Deluxe Wash & Wax + Engine Bay

As mentioned above, we had previously corrected the paintwork on this EVO VIII as the red was getting quite faded in some areas and needed a bit of TLC. This time around, we just gave it a quick clean up with a thorough wash. Even just by washing it the advantages of having the sealant applied could be seen. Water simply beaded off the paintwork and any dirt accumulated washed off with very little effort required.

We finished off the vehicle with our high quality spray wax and this was more than enough to enhance the shine and gloss in the red, whilst topping up the protection applied for a few more weeks.

Now that the warmer weather is here, it is very important that you protect the paintwork on your vehicle. While you apply sunscreen to protect your skin before heading out to the beach, think about your car baking under the hot sun in the open car park. If your car hasn't been protected, give Obsessive Compulsive Detailing (http://www.ocdonline.com.au/index.html) a call!

We have a range of high quality carnauba based waxes and synthetic sealants available to provide lasting protection for your vehicle from the effects of excessive sun exposure such as oxidation and fade to other common contaminants such as tree sap, insect splatter and road tar to name a few.

Vehicle 2: Nissan Skyline 300GT Champagne Silver
Detail: OCD Pre-Sale Detail + Headlight Restoration

We prepared this Skyline for the same owner as they were getting it ready for sale. Our Pre-Sale Detail (http://www.ocdonline.com.au/services.html) package was perfect for bringing the vehicle back up to standard with a thorough makeover of the interior and engine bay, then a comprehensive wash of the paintwork and wheels. We also corrected the headlights as per the owners request as they were starting to yellow and become a little cloudy.

Before you put your vehicle on the market, make sure you contact Obsessive Compulsive Detailing regarding our Pre-Sale Package. We will take the time to transform your vehicle inside and out. This will add value to your vehicle and help you get as close as possible to market value, in some instances even more!

Remember that all JDMST members also get a discount off all of our services too!

We carried out some correction work on Adrian's (Top Secret Imports) R34 GT-R today. As a credit to it's owner, this Godzilla has been kept in exceptionally good condition throughout but Adrian contacted us as there were a few swirls and marks in the paintwork that needed TLC. Also, there were holograms and buffer trails throughout the paintwork from a previous detail as a result of incorrect buffing techniques.

We started work on the interior - as it was already in great condition to begin with, it didn't take us long to bring it up with a good vacuum and we dressed the interior trim, console and dash.

Our main focus was getting the paintwork back into shape. The first step involved a thorough wash. We soaked the vehicle in our foaming wash/APC solution, letting it work it's magic for a few minutes while we got stuck into the engine bay and wheels.

After rinsing and hand-drying the paintwork, we clay-barred the entire vehicle. It was obvious the vehicle had not been claybarred in a while as there were quite a few contaminants extracted from the surface, with quite a lot coming off both the driver and passenger doors.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Clayroof3.jpg

Having thoroughly decontaminated, washed and clay-barred the vehicle, we proceeded onto the correction stage.

As mentioned in the outset, the main concern our customer had was the buffer trail marks all over the vehicle left from a previous detail. Unfortunately, due to time and lighting constraints, we weren't able to get good photos of the buffer trails but below are a few pictures of the light swirls and scratches on the paintwork.

We measured the thickness of the paint before taking a machine to it. As the paint was quite thin, we didn't go with a heavy-cut compound with multiple passes. Instead, we discussed a few options with Adrian and agreed on a single stage buff with a medium compound to remove most of the lighter swirls, marks and all of the buffer trails.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Correction-NSRqtrpanel5050-2.jpg

After correcting the paintwork, we gave the vehicle a final wash to thoroughly cleanse the surface of any polishing oils and compound dust then finished it off by hand applying a quality natural carnauba based wax and hand polishing it off with fresh MF towels.

The results speak for themselves. A gleaming showroom finish was achieved and there was a significantly sharper, glossy look in the Bayside Blue paintwork.

No worries Lindsay! Always a pleasure.

One of our happy returning customers approached us to prepare his vehicle for an up and coming photoshoot with a well known performance car magazine. As we had already carried out an extensive Enthusiast Package detail to this car only a few months back, it didn't take much to bring it back up to standard. With a thorough wash and a fine coat of high quality Aquawax, the vehicle was back to it's glossy self, ready to impress!

We took a bit of a road trip today up north just past Newcastle to help out a JDMST member with a bit of a tar problem.

The local council had recently laid down a fresh tar patch line along the road pretty much right next to Alex' EVO and unfortunately, quite a bit of tar got stuck to the bottom half of the paintwork along the driver side panels and wheels.

Hi RtN,

We usually use Autoglym's APC (http://www.carcareproducts.com.au/product/autoglym/multi_cleaner) along with a foaming solution and then soak the whole vehicle in the solution using a foam gun for between 5-7 minutes.

Let me know if you have any further questions, happy to help.

We were approached by a forum member to detail his great looking Nissan Cube for the upcoming All Japan Day event.

The vehicle was in great condition to begin with, but needed a bit of TLC to a few scuff marks around the body and the plastic fender kit also needed a bit of livening up as it was starting to fade a little.

After soaking the vehicle in a foam wash solution, we got started on the wheels, cleaning out the Watanabe rims inside out before turning our attention to the paintwork. The carnauba based wax chosen for the paintwork left it gleaming with a natural shiny finish which was considerably noticeable from many angles. The fender kit also turned out a real treat with a solid satin black finish finishing off the car quite nicely.

Over the weekend, we prepared a hot EVO IX for a forum member.

The vehicle in question was maintained fastidiously since new, but now the vehicle is up for sale and the owner wanted it looking 110%.

As a black vehicle, there were a few swirls on the paintwork accumulated over a few years of ownership which we helped to correct. We also took the time to bring the BBS rims back to showroom condition and the interior was also given a full once over.

We prepared this recently sold (http://forum.jdmstyletuning.com/showthread.php?39788-2000-DC2R-Night-Hawk-Black) car for a forum member this morning.

A full Pre-Sale Detail was carried out before handing ownership over to the new owner, giving the vehicle a full once over inside and out. The cabin was in great condition, we did our best to improve on this by cleaning up the upholstery and Recaro seats, before dressing all trims and the console with a semi-matt finish protectant for a neat factory finish.

Next the gunmetal OEM alloys were treated as well as the dusty engine bay, with a great turnaround achieved in both areas. The Night Hawk Black paintwork was thoroughly treated and cleansed before we hand applied a natural carnauba based wax to bring out a deep gloss finish. Lighting in the underground carpark was a little tough to work with photo-wise, but if you were to stumble upon this under the sun, the NHB would surely catch your attention.

Big Thanks to Lionel for coming on such short notice to give my car a detail.
He also took the time to explain what he was doing and even gave some good advice on how to maintain that shine.
It's a shame I left it to the last day of owning the DC2R that I got it done but it was worth it.

OCD had the pleasure of working with this well kept S15 this afternoon.

The vehicle was already in great condition to begin with, but Matt (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=48097969603) needed moar! So we delivered with our premium Enthusiast Package (http://www.ocdonline.com.au/services.html).

We started on the interior of the vehicle. Dusting out all crevices and vents, cleaning up the consoles, dash and door trims before giving it all a thorough vacuum and shampooing the carpets, seats and OEM Silvia Mats. Finally, the door jambs were also thoroughly cleaned and we dressed the interior with a low sheen UV protectant to keep it looking clean and protected from direct sunlight. Of course, it needed to smell good too so the cabin was also deodorized throughout.

The most important and time consuming step we left till last - the Pearl White Paint. Before starting any machine correction work, we needed to ensure we had a clean surface to work with, so the whole car was treated to a full foam soak. We let the car soak for about 3-5 minutes, allowing it to do it's work and loosen up the dirt and contaminants on the paint.

This was followed by a full wash using the two-bucket method, before rinsing the vehicle thoroughly and hand-drying it ready for the next step. To ensure any stubborn contaminants that were embedded on the surface were removed, we treated all the exterior painted surfaces with a clay bar.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Webshot2-20.jpg

BEFORE
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Frontbefore-22.jpg

DURING - FOAMING SOAK WASH
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Frontduring-12.jpg

After clay-barring the vehicle, we prepared it for the dual stage machine polish by taping up the trims and crevices with a low tack automotive paint tape. This would ensure no white residue was left on any of the black trims and also helped limit any excess compound dust from entering the already clean engine bay, door jambs etc.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Frontduring2.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/Webshot3-21.jpg

With the car freshly cleaned, dry and taped up, we were ready for the dual stage machine polish. The preliminary stage was performed using a Rotary machine polish and a medium/hard compound. All panels were covered consistently and the second stage was carried out with a Random Orbital machine, light cut pad and finishing compound to ensure a clean and even finish.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/5050correctionbeforeafter3.jpg

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj24/Kazkasero/5050correctionbeforeafter2.jpg

The results were extremely good. A very noticeable increase in gloss levels across all panels, with most of the swirls and imperfections on the bodywork corrected to a high gloss shine. We also noticed a lot more clarity in the paintwork, helping it reflect light a lot better from all angles.

To lock in the new found shine and protect the paintwork. We applied a high strength quality two stage synthetic sealant and left it to 'cure' for 45 minutes before carefully hand polishing it to an impeccable final finish. The results were astounding!

To cap off a very busy week for us, we helped transform this well kept EVO VIII for a forum member.

White cars always hide dirt and imperfections well, so the paintwork already looked very good. Only up close or from certain angles in the right light could you see surface stains, water etching marks, swirls and signs of oxidation and fade on the bonnet and parts of the roof. Tam opted to have the paintwork overhauled with our Enthusiast Package.

JDMST Member: TAM R
Vehicle: Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VIII White

We gradually brought this beast back to life starting with a thorough wash and clay bar treatment, then carrying out a multiple stage machine polish to the exterior paintwork to correct and polish it, leaving it with a glassy smooth showroom shine! A final layer of natural carnauba wax really set it off nicely with some impressive bling, also leaving the car with a thin layer of protection.
