As reported at Left Lane News (http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/10/11/report-nissan-will-produce-350z-gt-s/).

Nissan will put the 350Z GT-S (http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/06/29/2007-nissan-350z-gt-s-concept-revealed-production-possible/) into limited production, according to a report by Britain's AutoExpress magazine. The car was first unveiled in June as a concept, though Nissan hinted it could see production. The GT-S features a supercharger, bringing output to 382 horsepower (283kw) from the regular 300 hp (223kw). Accordingly, zero to 60 mph takes just 4.8 seconds instead of the usual 5.8. The supercharger will reportedly have an on/off switch.

Buyers in the U.K. will reportedly pay £36,000 when the car goes on sale later this year. The standard 350Z Gt costs £24,000, meaning the GT-S will be about 50 percent more expensive. Considering a U.S base price of around $27,000, we suspect U.S. pricing would be around $40,000 for the GT-S. However, that has been no confirmation of U.S. availability.

That's freaking awesome.

On another point though; is it just me, or is the 350Z a heck of a lot more expensive in the UK than it is in the US? £24,000GBP is a heck of a lot more than US$25,000 - it's actually US$44,000! Even with market differences in mind, it blows my mind that US buyers are essentially paying the equivalent of US$20,000 less than their UK counterparts!

US has very competitive car market.

That's a good point, but I must admit, I wouldn't have thought that the UK market was so much less competitive that a full US$20k more would be appropriate.

Prices are all relative .... its like comparing US car Prices to Singapore ... no comparison! Wages, Living Costs, Car Costs , etc etc ...

Yeah I understand that haha, but even with that in mind, we're talking 20k. I know how that stuff works, I just would have thought the difference would be closer to 10k, not 20. It's virtually twice the price, and the wage and living costs differences between those two countries is absolutely not large enough to consider that the main reason.

Anyway, I'm no economist, so I'm over it. This thread was meant to be about the car. :)

Nice car :) .... but a bit too much of a price increase if u ask me, regardless of UK or US ---- over US$10,000 !!! Thats a lotta cash. Surely u could replicate it with an aftermarket S/C kit for less?

Yeah, but I guess the appeal will be that it's factory. I mean, the Z-Tune doesn't put out more power than could be gained through a visit to a good tuning house, and you wouldn't be paying $250,000 for the privilege!

I know the difference is that the GT-R is a hero car and that there are only 20 Z-Tunes, but I suppose at the end of the day, people want to have the best car that the factory itself has put out, rather than a standard car that has been tuned aftermarket.

That Strosek kit looks like crap!

The on/off thing would be interesting. 4.8 seconds is getting mighty quick, quite the beast the say the least!
