View Full Version : n14 Pulsar (No chromo)

01-10-11, 06:50 PM
My Family had this n14 sr20 pulsar for abt 9 years now, since it was in immaculate condition i bought it off them for $3000 XD
JDM the [email protected] out of it

Since my family didnt (still dont) know what JDM is they sold it to me looking like this...

So it was my mission to convert this car to JDM standards !
so for the past few months ive been trolling the net for n14 parts and i stumbled across a JapSpec SSS front bumper with no fog lights :(
picked it up for a nice $200
and got it sprayed yo !

no offence to this guy ! but i did not want my car to look like this

next was some wheels for my n14
the steelies just wasnt rockin it for me

trolling gumtree i found myself a set of SSS stock alloys at 90% thread for $150 Swwweett !
drove around with them on and it just didnt seem to suit the car so i noticed there was black trim around my car so i decided to go on a blue and black them so i sanded the wheels down and painted them matte black

sanded and cleaned

painted matte black

next was a SSS spoiler, i was determined to find one of these things and i wasnt going to give up and a aftermarket one...
took a bit of time but i found one from an AuSpec SSS ( without the brake light ) spoiler good enough for me so i got that bad boy painted and attached to my car

now that i finished the stock SSS look im taking a bit of a break ( no money LOL )
then i shall return with my car on lowered -2 front and back cambers !

but this is it so far

Nice, good to see another Pulsar owner! :)

31-10-11, 04:07 PM
Gonna sticker bomb my spoiler, thoughts ?

31-10-11, 04:21 PM
bad thoughts

31-10-11, 04:27 PM
dont do it. Keep it neat, just lower the shit out of it :)

02-11-11, 11:08 PM
sticker bomb small things first so it can easily be reversed if you dont like it like your fuel filler door

07-11-11, 10:28 PM
alright im back.

just got the car serviced, didnt realise the effect of clean valves and fuel injectors had on engine until now, beauty !

Spent the weekend cleaning the car, no major mods yet still kinda cheap... :/
but we all gotta start somewhere ;)

for some reason this just didnt look right !

obviously it was the fog lights
so i searched around and found this on the pulsar forums.

Inspired !
so came friday i had a day off uni, spent the day hunting for foggies it was hot as hell so i decided to get AEM foggies cause it was easier, cheaper and more abundant
it didnt really fit the Auspec bumper, but it fit my Japspec bumper beautifully, cheering.

i bought 2 pairs of foggies for the japspec look,

meh, still didnt look right compared to what i wanted but it was getting there :)

i also got bored and decided to paint the grill satin black, dont have any pictures of the actual process.
nothing to major just took off the grill and the nissan badge ( didnt break any pins :) sanded, painted, coated.

looked really really funny but all good :)

Alright Alright Alright its Saturday and it was time to take off the bumper and paint that bottom lip yeee mateeee !

once again it was hot as hell, instead of going to the beach, i spent the day in the sun cleaning, preping, taping, sanding and painting my front bumper.

the japs are a clever race, we mire their cars and technology but seriously the guy who decided to use PLASTIC clips and screws to attach a bumper is stupid, it was near impossible to remove the bumper without breaking them. it was like a void warranty sticker -.-

but i got it off

took a solid hour to tape up that bad boy and sand it. while that was happening i noticed that the black trim around the car wouldnt match the front bumper so i decided to tape up the whole car and spray the plastic trim to match :)

Newspaper BOMBED !

I love the look of sticker bombing so i went out and bought a spare spoiler that should come arrive in a few days and gona sticker bomber the SHIT out of it :) and swap around when i feel like it :)

So a long tiring day came to end, i got singlet tanned so badly -.- but i was loving the end result.

attached the bumper (Fuck those gay ass plastic clips and screws i cable tied it back together for the JDM effect)
wired and relayed the foggies
wash and waxed the car
went to the beach to meet up with a very very loving and understanding missus :)

took 2 days,
costed approx $180
cheering !

Oh yeah im on Uni Break ATM and i really want to double up the rear brake lights (so make the top one light up as well, like the custom EK's) i have an idea how it works but honestly dont want to do it without advice.

07-11-11, 10:49 PM
I would of went the chrome rims before the ones you went with tbh.

Shouldn't really bag others when yours is stock lol.

07-11-11, 11:49 PM
im just saying i wouldnt put chrome ON MY CAR !
you can chrome the shit outa your car and i wouldnt bag you out mate.

its my personal preference.
Im not Hating on anybody.

08-11-11, 12:27 AM
Seems like you were hating on the others cars, it's not like they posted a pic an asked for an opinion. You went and got a pic of their car and went and posted it in your thread saying you wouldn't do this and that.

I'm not a chrome fan either. Or an air brushed/sexspec fan.

08-11-11, 12:43 AM
I like what you've done with it mate, good job.

08-11-11, 02:53 AM
nice dude haha no chromo, good to see your clean approach unlike the majority of sss out there raped by the ethnics of western sydney

08-11-11, 07:52 AM
Looks clean

08-11-11, 11:14 AM
nice work so far mate, I had an N14 Ti SR20 as a first car, loved it to bits. I put a Jap Spec SSS front bar on it too!

15-11-11, 01:56 PM
sweet as guys, got a few minor things done need your rates ;)

alright then i was flicking around and i saw N14 with rear lips looks awesome ! so i decided to get one my self, fibreglass rear lips unpainted $300 -.- nahhh, pulsar forums AWAAAY !!
turns out this guy shares the same views as me on the n14 rear lips so he made his own, he went out and bought rubber and attached it himself. Beauty, so i checked out his threads and figured it out for my self, went to clark rubber Bankstown (SYD) cause that was the closest one. Broooooooo SSS pulsars EVERYWHERE !!! any who picked up a 50mm Dextile rubber strip at $14.95 p/m and got that thing cut and attached, dodgy job just doubled sided taped it coz wasnt sure if it would look good but here it is

was a very boring weekend, so i went out and took my spoiler off for a paint, just so it matches the colour scheme thats going on :) i saw that my car looks soo much better without the spoiler on :) but there would be 4 holes and rust around the boot lid, but im cool with that.
what do you guys think ?

but heres the end product.

15-11-11, 02:02 PM
eyelids ?

15-11-11, 03:53 PM
Nah go easy on it, don't do eyelids. The rear lip doesn't look too bad actually but it makes the side look empty as there's no skirt (don't put one lol).
Should save up for that drop and maybe some low offset rims, imo ! :)

15-11-11, 04:01 PM
ye mate i got a set of super low ( -2.5" ) kingsprings coming in soon,
bought it second hand off another N14 owner $100 for all 4 (5000km) CHEERING !

15-11-11, 04:02 PM
My opinion:

Take off the dyi lip, doesn't really look good, take off the eyelids, take off the spoiler. Don't do anymore diy mods. Save some money and get your spoiler colour matched and buy some decent rims.

I agree re: DIY mods, but like the transformation so far.

15-11-11, 08:18 PM
i kinda like the DIY rear lip... but i never understand what eyelids were for and never will

maybe do a diy front lip??

16-11-11, 08:41 AM
the rear lip looks good , but looks weird on the side as there are not sideskirts to match it

05-12-11, 11:39 PM
rear lip has been trimmed and fixed

and double lit tail lights have been installed

05-12-11, 11:44 PM
front bar is missing a tow hook cover...

seriously however... its good to see somebody trying to do a pulsar right...

not a fan of GTiR bonnets on plain old N14's just don't go and put one on it... :D

05-12-11, 11:51 PM
Thinking of buying GTiR front bumper (black) and fitting it on, worth $400 ?

11-12-11, 10:16 PM
Shit SYD weather, so stayed home and detailed the car, dont know if you guys are interested in that but, ill post any way.

at the Cabra car wash few guys pointed that the engine bay is dirty and i should spray it with the high pressure hose, no thanks guys my mates EG didnt idle properly after and engine spray so that scared me off. Anyway 18 years of dirt, grease and oil stained onto the rocker, pretty damn gross man.
ive also got a worn gasket which causes oil seeping :( but shall get that fixed and replaced tomorrow for a squeaky clean engine bay.

not really major work, just scrubbed and buffed.

a clean engine is happy engine and a happy engine is a powerful engine.

going to paint the rocker tomorrow thinking either black, red, blue or just leave it as polished silver ?
