Ok well ive had my civic hatch for around 6 or so months now...

the paint is starting to come off and flake, etc etc etc...

and seeing as i will have to car all to myself in a few weeks i figure its time for a paint job....i want to stick with white and maybe pandarise it a little :)

so does anyone have some advice/tips or even know a good/cheap shop to get it done at? :)

Can I be honest and tell you to save your money?

Like I'm not saying don't modify it... But I think your money would be better spent on something else

i was thinking a engine swap/decarbing might go well....

at the moment im paying off my shoulder reconstruction + other shit.....
ill probably just use the money to pay off my operation....

You've either got two realistic and worthwhile options IMO.

thats
1) Go all out on this. Make a plan and stick to it over a long period. Be prepaired for a long ownership of this car but also great rewards in doing something different and rewarding
2) Go something JUST as rewarding but not as different and save all your money towards that. Don't spend a cent on this car (not even on oil) and drive it till it blows up. Buy a better base (Like your friends stripped EG civic or even an EF civic) and just use this to drive from A to B as prizedbnx said.

I know this thread wasn't about that. But painting this car just seems like a waste of time unless you establish right now which of the two you wanna do :P

I see where shiri is coming from.

But hey if your bored and wanna do a DIY paintjob on it, then matte black ftw :)

But sanding a car down and prepping for painting is a bit of a strain on your joints and might not be advisable if you have had shoulder surgey

I also see where shiri is coming from and rather the honesty and opinion....

i would have already bought the eg shell and have it running but the amount of rust and work that would have needed to go in it was insane and i really didnt have that sought of money or time when it was available

If i could find a decent cheap eg or even ef shell now and slowly put it together then i would probably tilt towards that option :) and keep the 86 as a dd

as for doing a diy paintjob im all for it just need a little advice on paints, guns etc etc (id probably do a write up if i was to do it myself)

prepping the car wouldnt really be too much of a problem for me with my shoulder because ive already got a clearance from my surgeon (which was mid last year) and repetition isnt really a problem with it :)

Painting it can be done for less than $100, just remember to prime it and sand it and do it somewhere away from dust otherwise it will look shit

save your time and money and save up for another car like the others said....
OR
if you do paint it...paint the rims at the same time...and yeah a diy job would look realy bodge expecially if its done in the back yard and not an enclosed heat room

DIY Jobs can look really good if they're done properly dude even out of spray cans...take that matt black 180 at the eomm for example, spent $60 and a few days painting his car over 2 years ago...still looks awesome

That's Shauns car. first car he ever painted and it turned out really really nice.

I'm tempted to let him rattle can my car, but I'm too much of a pussy.
