Hey all, recently picked this MX-5 up from a member on here (Chook).

http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/Mr-Sparkles/IMG_1090.jpg

Had never owned anything so low before, and I just loved the look of it! After taking it for a test drive, I was hooked. I drove it that low for a couple of weeks and it put a massive smile on my face.

Although trying to get into MX-5 Mania at Dural this happened:

http://i984.photobucket.com/albums/ae323/Mr-Sparkles/IMG_11251.jpg

The guys over there were extremely helpful and they raised the rear enough to clear the 4 or 5 humps on the way into their place.

They got the car up onto the hoist and fiddled with the coilovers a bit. It is now high enough to clear bumps, but damn does it handle! The way it drove with a bit more height put an even bigger smile on my face than the stance look. It looks a little too high at the moment, and I am clearing everything on the road, so I will probably play with the height a bit next weekend to get a good compromise.

They also replaced the slave cylinder, with the clutch feeling a lot better, and I ordered a ducktail rear spoiler to give it a little more aggression in the rear.

A bit further down the track I will be looking at a turbo kit and a paint tidy up.

low =/= good handling. by raising your car slightly, the roll center is closer to the COG which means your car will handle better.

also your car doesn't seem to have lower braces. put some on and you will feel a massive difference. struct bar seems to be useless in my experience.

Damn, that must've been on the ground. I thought I was low, but I make it over that easy.

Great to see you have raised the car, the car handles much better and you enjoy the car MUCH more than having it that low.

Looks mean man, though get the front lip fixed, they're really weak if at all damaged.

Andrew! I WANT MY CAR BACK! LOL

This car couldn't have gone to a better bloke. I'm glad to see it is in safe hands.

Can't wait to see what you've got planned for it.

P.S. I reckon I could have cleared that hump... Hahahaha

Thats what i was thinking haha.

Good thing mine is still standard height at the moment, so i will enjoy practical mx5'ness till it lasts :D

Looking good mang, im curious to know how that exhaust setup sounds.

Hopefully heading to mania this wednesday as well.

Looks good man! I played around with the height on mine too, it handles very well and still looks pretty good. Doesn't look as good as a dumped/lowered setup though.

Measured from the top edge of the guard to centre of the hub, my fronts are 280mm and rears are 305mm.

BTW, I need one of those rear lips too!

Welcome to Roadster Life.

You should think about some more subtle black/silver or silver/black number plates, and some plain black number plate borders.

Ducktail (wooohoooo) spoiler should really suit the look.

Cheers Elliott, the GTS2 has gone to a 31 club member in VIC. From what I hear it is going to become a bit of a strip weapon. Should be good to see how it coomes out.

Different plates are on the cards for chrissy present. Spoiler is taking a while to get in, I want it now! haha.

Pretty sure it is an Apexi GT. If I'm wrong I'm sure there's a certain somewhere who knows ;)

I work at Castle Hill, so I'm on Boundary every morning and arvo. What are you in?

Polished the front end of it today and it turned out quite well. Right side is beforehand on the photos.

I also recently purchased a little toy for myself (Sony a350), so I'll be taking a lot more photos of it now! Still learning what all the buttons do, my first DSLR.

Also, have been looking at a roof spoiler. Found this one:

It's $300US delivered from www.projectgla.com. Opinions?

Looks sweet! Even though it's not as dumped as before, it still looks great! :)

I've wanted to purchase a pair of sideskirts from Project G as well but haven't heard much about how everything works with them.

But black on red always looks nice! If that's something you like, I reckon it'll finish the look off if you like it that way :D

Ride height looks about the same as mine now. I like the look of the hardtop spoilers, just not the price for what they are lol.

Yeah I saw the side skirts on their website as well, I like. Although it looks like they do not ship the side skirts internationally.

Wheel's still perfect.

Had a good chat to AJ down at MX-5 Mania, got some info and prices on turbo kits. Damn they are expensive, will keep looking around at options.

Also, just ordered some new plates ;)

wilch

Supercharger's are a cheaper option if you can find second hand. But after living with one for a few years I'd recommend turbo over supercharger. So keep looking for that turbo kit!
