View Full Version : [BO55GS] CHOOK'S V.I.P. BUILD

So as you all know, I've sold my much loved MX5 to a very happy fellow JDMST forum member who has given it a good home.

Some of you might not have known but, I purchased a SILEIGHTY while the MX5 was up for sale/being sold. At the time I still needed some wheels to get around in while I was shopping for the perfect base to begin my next project car.

After a week or two of selling the MX5, I found 'THE' car, bought it, sold the SILEIGHTY, and made some garage space.

In a months time I jumped in and out of 3 cars LOL.

"Bye MX5, Bye SILEIGHTY".

Video of MX5
http://vimeo.com/28854530

I knew what I wanted and it was just a matter of time before I found the right one.

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h291/chooken_2nyt/299783_10150521412518136_799618135_11543611_156527 8926_n.jpg

98 LEXUS GS300 (JZS160)

BIG, BAD, BLACK

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h291/chooken_2nyt/297126_10150521412268136_799618135_11543608_296168 854_n.jpg

It took me awhile to find a decent black one, it was even harder to find one with black leather.

The car is stock. It has full electric options, sunroof, and HID's.

I have big plans for this car, I plan to build a proper VIP JZS160 and not just purchase some Junction Produce pillows and hang a FUSA off my rear view mirror for a bullshit V.I.P. attempt.

After owning it for about 2-3 weeks I couldn't resist but purchase my first major mod. It's a surprise to most JDMST forum members so you're going to just have to look for it at the next JDMST meet.

I'll try and update it as often as I can or as often as my wallet allows me LOL. So keep an eye on this thread.

Thanks for viewing.

Chook.

Love these cars, I've was looking for one of these for the wife recently and I know exactly what you mean about it being a mission to find one with black leathers.
For some stupid reason they all have the shitty cream or grey trim.
Can't wit to see how this turns out.

Nice ride... we know what you mean about trying to get one with a black interior. We got one in White with Black interior but apparently back when they were sold new, grey and beige were the standard interior colors and black was a special order which is why its a bit harder to find ones with black interior.

Would be interested to see how it rides with the suspension?

Yeah I was looking for the black and black combo for awhile. This one was worth the wait.

I wonder how much more the black leather upgrade was worth back in its day.. I think it looks so much better.

If you raise the car up at stock height the car rides just as good as shock/springs. Very comfortable.

I was going to ride static like my other cars but I thought this car doesn't deserve a beat up under carriage or crack/chipped lip kits. It just wouldn't go with that clean VIP look.

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h291/chooken_2nyt/IMG_4349.jpg

So you may have all figured, I have gone and fitted air suspension.

A lot of people have asked me, "why go 'air' over 'static'? You've always been 'fuck bags'..."

While I was driving the Lexus before the modifications started, I loved how comfortable it was. When driving a VIP luxury saloon you still want to be COMFORTABLE while being GANGSTER at the same time, so I didn't want to sacrifice that by running hard slammed on coil overs. I could get away with a cracked Garage Vary front lip on my MX5 but a cracked WALD front lip on my GS doesn't look very BAWSE!

Specs are;

* Accuair e-level electronic leveling system
* Dual VIAIR 400C compressors
* 5 gallon aluminium tank
* D2 air bag struts
* 3/8 lines

Thanks to Steafano Anthony of 'D-GARAGE' for his fantastic work on the install and the boys at Concord Customs for supplying me the parts.

Here are some install photos as promised. I didn't get a chance to take proper photos, but I will once I do a bit more tidying up.

Btw... If you're still hating... I've proved my point riding static. Drive hard slammed daily like my EG or my MX5 then maybe you're argument might be valid.

http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h291/chooken_2nyt/IMG_4350.jpg
Took out the spare wheel to dummy mount the tank. Looking for a stealth look. What happens when you get a flat tyre I hear you asking? No probs... Hook up a line with a tyre pressure gauge and leave a puncture repair kit in your boot for an on the spot fix..

Everythings nearly mounted. Just need to tidy up all the wires, cables and air lines. Lost the long bolts for the water trap so it's just cable tied for now LOL.

you made the right call with going bags man. Driving a slammed car daily, when you start breaking 2k lip kits, its not worth the internet credits.

that and the comfort & fun of bags is something else.

Bodgy Racing Developments
08-12-11, 11:24 AM
for airbags?

well it comes down to what you want out of an airbag setup. what sort of lines you want, what compressor(s) to run, how fast/slow you want the car to raise/dump and then stuff like auto leveling etc..

Usually though, custom kit without auto leveling, expect about 7k (non ebay crap)

So the bags are in and this is the result.

I still have more adjustment on the struts to allow myself to go lower but the control arms fouling the chassis are stopping me from doing so. When I go on 19's that further adjustment will come in handy.

Even with that strut adjustment and air all out of the bags the exhaust is laying on the ground.

Eurolines is the way id go, but it is very played out now days but at least if you do choose eurolines in the right fitment, it is garunteed to look off chops

You definitely know what you're talking about. That is exactly what I'm thinking.

Eurolines is the classic VIP wheel choice. It is played out over in the states but over here I haven't seen a set of Eurolines with the right fitment.

The only thing that is stopping me from getting Eurolines is because on how common it is in general but with fitment like that 'ROYAL FLUSH' GS I don't think anyone would care LOL.

So good to see more and more VIP cars in the scene these days. The GS is a great VIP platform man, can't wait to see where you take it! Your MX5 and EG before that were epic, and its always great to see your cars roll thru at meets, can't wait to see more in this thread!

Thanks dude! We're definitely lacking a VIP scene over here and I totally agree on the GS being a great VIP platform.

Because the GS hardly went through model changes, it doesn't look as outdated.

There are alot of great support from fellow JDMST memebers. All the kind words are really appreciated.

Next time you see me come say HI.

what ive always wondered is whats to total price for that kit as noone will give me a stright answer / quote ... there is always a "we will design somthing and it will be 5K"

U can buy the basic kit for about $2,000 delivered, the middle range kit for about $2,800 and top of the range for about $3,600 delivered from D2.

for airbags?

well it comes down to what you want out of an airbag setup. what sort of lines you want, what compressor(s) to run, how fast/slow you want the car to raise/dump and then stuff like auto leveling etc..

Usually though, custom kit without auto leveling, expect about 7k (non ebay crap)

Custom kits use alot of crappy stuff like noisy and slow compressors and cheap fittings and universal bags with cutting of your shock to retrofit a bag on the stock or adjustable shocks, most of the parts can be easily sourced from ebay in a custom kit.. The best part on a custom kit is probably the control system, if there using a digital dakota or accuair setup, otherwise they use those cheap ass multiswitch paddle box's.

Japanese complete packages are excellent in quality and perform well and range from 7k-12k.

Eurolines is the classic VIP wheel choice. It is played out over in the states but over here I haven't seen a set of Eurolines with the right fitment.

There was a black Aristo going around Sydney owned by a good friend Ryan who is also on Aus-vip it had a set of 19x11 Deep dish Eurolines on it and slammed hard.

I agree with the ILLEST rug not being a VIP mod. That's just me supporting a clothing brand that I love. I bought it and thought 'Shit what am I going to do with it... Ohh I'll just use it as a boot rug!' LOL

I guess what I do to the rest of car will determine how proper my VIP build is. Through constructive criticism it's good to see people still have a passion for cars.

All those wheels... god damn. I will definitely have trouble trying to choose a set.

Should be nice... but I think to make the lip and guard look work properly, you need waaaay more camber than that.

The weekend of SHOWCASED has past and I'm sure everyone is still buzzing from it.

It was highly anticipated and THE-LOWDOWN presented what would have to be one of my favorite shows I have attended so far. It was a perfect mix of quality cars, great atmosphere and good weather.

I couldn't have chosen a better show to debut the new look of BO55GS. I'm really stoked that I took home the "PERFECT FITMENT AWARD' in the process.

Special thanks to THE-LOWDOWN for organizing such an awesome show, BUILT TO ORDER, DJ MOTO BLACK LABEL, PLUS SIX ONE, INFAMOUS CREW, and HOUSE OF STANCE for all the support they've given me.

I've still got a long way to go till I'm satisfied with the way she looks but no more teasing, this is how BO55GS looks now.

So the car hasn't changed at all since it's debut at THE-LOWDOWN's "SHOWCASED". I've just been cruising around, enjoying it, and keeping it clean.

I've come to the point where I'm contemplating if I should continue to build it, or sell and start a new project. I always seem to sell my projects prematurely because I reach that point where I'm satisfied enough to sell and not continue to build it to save money for a new project. Let see where things take me in 2013.

Haven't updated this thread for awhile. I had some spare time today so I thought I'd post up some pics from the last couple of meets.

Thanks to all the photographers for the great photos.

Enjoy.

Yeah I'm actually getting the boot lid de-badged when the boys from Concord Custom come back from holidays. I personally don't like the look of shaved boot lid fog lamps, it makes the rear look too plain. I'm also trying to source out a Junction Produce grille to complete the no badge look.

I reckon it looks better with the Lex badge. Having a plain grille is too common in pretty much every car.

To me if its clean at the back it has to be the same at the front. The Junction Produce grille is my favourite grille on the market for the 2GS, doesn't look too plain at all even without the badge.

For those that don't know, I've recently sold my Lexus GS300 aka BO55GS. I decided it was time to move on and start a new project. It's always hard letting go of something you love, but all good things come to an end.

There is always a sentimental bond between car and owner, so I wanted to make a video I could look back at and reminisce. I approached the team at X1 Digital Designs and I couldn't be anymore happier with the outcome.

Video link:
http://vimeo.com/71555951

Look out for my next build. I'll be coming back lower and wider.

Hope you enjoy the video.
