Hey guys, fairly new to the forum but heres my ride .

Picked up a 1999 S2 N15 SSS with around 160,000kms which was almost stock standard.

Current mods to the car are as follows,

Engine:

- Sr20de
- 3 inch cannon ( soon to go )
- SAAS pod filter ( Soon to go )
- Aluminium heat shield
- Custom CAI

Suspension:

- Pedders shocks + Springs

Exterior:

- JDM 2 slat grille
- OEM Bonet protector

Interior:

- Stock

Audio:

- 2x kenwood 6.9's ( Not to fussed about audio )

Future mods:

- SR20ve Conversion ( already ordered, awaiting shipment )
- 1.5 way nismo LSD
- Nistune + Apexi NEO
- Stance emotion wheels ( Chrome lip, gold center )
- Topstage lip
- Magnaflow oval muffler OR Varex .. Still uncertain
- BC Gold coil overs + Camber bolts
- VZR side skirts
- Lucino grille

Car looked like this the day It rolled up in my driveway

http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/8464/19349516320819701761480.jpg

It was on my mind for a while to re-spray my wheels black, and it finally came into action within weeks of buying it.

Next exterior mod was the JDM 2 slat grille, came stock black so decided to leave it and see how it looked !

The car pretty much remained the same for a couple of months with school/work taking up most of my time, so something new had to be done. I decided to make a custom air intake which to this day isn't 100% complete

I ran a meter long flexible intake pipe through the cutout in the front guard to the front fog light cover

DOUBLE TROUBLE !

[B]
Last thing to complete the intake is to build an enclosed box around the pod filter, most likely out of sheet metal.

i think black looks better... it's the same colour as the light backs, so it makes it look like one black strip pretty much.. which imo looks cool.

Do not get a Topstage Lip looks ugly as, stick with looking for a VZR lip or just get bunnings garden edging!
Want your bonnnet protector :)

Garden edging haha ? Simple to make ? The protectors were going on eBay just recently man, comes clear but nothing paint can't fix :)

SSSKid
08-11-11, 02:59 PM
You pretty much just position how you want the edging on the lip of your bumper bar then you cut the edging to suit you bumper. you can either ribbeted, screw or cable tie it on! Thats what im going to do if i can't find a VRZ lip by the end of the year.

Thanks mate, well honestly I don't really have a budget I just want it to perform and look how I want it to, however to do so I would say around 4000 thats including the cost of the motor

yer was looking into doing it myself but then found out that the wiring had to be wired in and i dont know anyone that can do it, still keen but.

niSSSdan
12-12-11, 06:01 PM
No wiring mods needed other than possibly extending the IACV and crimping/connecting the vvl wires to whatever is switching them. I HATE electronics and I did it no worries :)
AW11 freak-I used a brand new bottom end in mine and therefore motor cost was 2k not 1.5k and it all ended up around 4k. Thats with $500 headers though.
So if someone is planning on doing this conversion and using existing/stock extractors, $3000 is very achievable :)

JDMN15
12-12-11, 08:35 PM
ok cheers for that, have a mate who's looking at doing the conversion as well and he's not sure how much it will cost him. It all depends how far he wants to go, the minimum to get it running and to run the VVL your looking at around 3xxx including the motor, but offcourse if your going to do the conversion your better off spending a little extra and replacing things on the way ie. engine mounts, hoses etc .

JDMN15
12-12-11, 08:39 PM

as niSSdan said mate, as far as wiring goes just do a little research and you'll come to find its easier then it seems, you would use your DE loom and DE ECU, In a nutshell all you will need to be doing is wiring up some plugs to the VVL solenoids, buying a VTEC controller or RPM switch to set and engage VVL and then a daughterboard of some sort which will enable you to push more out the VE.

Top car bloke an the VE conversion is ace !

I'm stuck on wether the VE motor with some tinkering is the way or just go ahead with a GTi-R motor

How far do you reckon you'll go with modifications on this motor ? ... Just cam gears, exhaust and a tune ?

Thanks mate, well personally If I wasn't under p-plate restrictions I'd jump straight on the GtiR conversion rather then the VE only because i've seen the conversion done and the power output is amazing, however VE is still quick and more practical considering you can actually put the power to the ground. Yeah probably cams daughter board + a good tune exhaust/headers and call it a day, I may shave the heads and do some port work later down the track but ill keep you updated ! :)

For the primary to secondary gasket, google SCE-9400 and search pages from Australia. It's a copper version of the same one that comes with the kit. For the manifold gasket, use a Nissan metal one.

I actually did feel a gain mate not HUGE but noticeable enough keeping in mind from my cat back is still stock which will be restrictive. Bought the short shifter and all the mounts off Gspec performance (top site to deal with for pulsar owners, especially VVL )

Thanks guys! Nice car JDMN15! I'd put a short shifter in but I'm too tempted to change gears faster than a F1 car as it is hahaha. I just posted a thread on my car, check it out, it's called 'My N15 SSS' see what you think!

SR20VE Swap Begins !

And with the help of my workmates the VE is finally going in :boobies: I have tried to capture as many pictures as possible without wasting too much time. Because I'm doing it at work I dont wan't to occupate the hoist and tools etc for too long.

NISTUNE, Intrested in the results you get with it. GL with the conversion. :)

Has it already had the 20DE crank in it or are you chucking the 20 crank in?

Fark, You learn something new everyday haha. Noob much! Never knew there were 20V though there were only 16V and the only way to get a 20V is buy chucking a 20DE crank into it! Thanks for clearing it up! :)

Nah man you can buy either the SR20VE or the SR16VE

Theres an sr20VE 20valve too. Very rare though.

Looking at these pulsar threads makes me miss my 20ve VZR sometimes :-(

It wasn't 20 Valve man, the 20V was just the model it came out in :)

They had revised plenum and intake runners, also a neater looking rocker cover, coilpacks, fly by wire throttle body, revised valve train also different cams (had the biggest low cam out of all the VE's, the N1 still has the biggest high cam though)

Really? IS the motor that Cozzmo is running not a 20 valve VE? I could of sworn it was. Or maybe I just thought it was because it was written 20V.

Correcto, cozzmo does have the 20valve SR20VE with also the 6 speed transmission and as Timmy said they run their differences from the 16 valve (which I have)

Lol, its not a 20 valve engine. It is an SR20VE 20V, but the 20V doesnt mean it has 5 valves per cylinder. It is purely the model of car that the engine came out of. It still has 16 valves, 4 per cylinder.

Exactly. Tim is spot on. It also has 11:1 compression pistons versus 10.3:1 in regular VE's. And again, it came out in the Nissan Primera 20V. That's the name of the car. The motor was just dubbed the 20V because it came out in that car.
