Hey all, so I thought I would make a diary on both of my cars.

The 180 is used for drifting, however still used as a daily until the s14 gets back on road (I changed out the engine in it).

So I cant go all out with my 180 as I still want it registered so it's mild in comparison to full on track only buses, and the 14 is my pretty hard parker :P

Anyway I will update this a bit better when I get home.

For now..

Finished my states 2011 round of drifting, and have one more practice day to go (Dec 3rd :) ) I have recently bought a GoPro Hero HD to be able to record my driving so I can play back my footage and use it as another source of info to better my skills. I'm so glad I bought it, well worth the money!

So anyway here is a few pictures of the 180 (Has a s14 front on it incase anyone thinks Im losing the plot) and I have embedded some of my most recent footage from the track.

Oh and this is photo of the s14, which will make an appearance later on once she is running again :)

Hmm panel alignment is a bit out!

Do you have pictures of the longchamps on the car ?

I'm getting a similar pair for my rears, would be good to see how they sit on stock guards (no wide/flares).

Looking good.

Mandi

Anastasios - it's a drift car not a show queen, I will fix it in time but not really high on list ATM

Tiksie - you could fit then with a bigger flare and more camber, I have a trial fit walkaround video, from the YouTube video go to my channel and you can see the longchamp trial fit.

Looks intense!

I might be able to pull off 15x9.5 -20 then.

Nice cars but serious panel gap issues on both cars???

Mandi
16-11-11, 01:30 PM
Better than wheel gap.

Anyway as mentioned, panel fitment isn't at the top of my to do list as I have more important things to take care of, I will get to it when I get to it. So if all anyone has to say is panel gap, don't post because your not really contributing anything.

Cheers

I remember the shitfight your build thread on ns.com turned into. If you have to deal with stupid responses like that constantly I'm amazed you've stayed in the scene.

Like your 180 more than the S14 but all the same, Keep it up.

Mandi

Whiteballz - yea that thread is long gone now, I have my 180 build thread up there now, and not too concerned about e-heroes opinions now, plus I have a genuine love of cars (more racing them now rather than working on them but working in the auto trade does that to you), I have to say the 180 is heaps fun, I'm so glad I started competiting on track, really great fun.

Dawson - yep I'm pretty stoked with the gopro, it's been a massive help to sit back and watch the footage and see where I'm going wrong and right etc. Plus it will create a timeline for me to look back and see where I have improved along the way (hopefully :p) I would recommend filming incar footage for anyone wanting to improve.

Yea cheers guys, thats it its a drift car so it just needs to look presentable really, important parts are the bits underneath ;)

Peggy - I wont say where I got the hood from because it arrived smashed and took months of chasing the business to try and get any compensation for it, not to mention I had to try and patch it with a repair kit. It's essentially on there until I buy a genuine bonnet. It is a T2 style bonnet though if that helps ;)

Yea they are fairly wide, the rears are 80mm wide each side, running a 18x13 -20 rim with a stretched 275 :)

Hrm not really any update as any bits on my car... but two clips I have put up from the weekend just gone.

Had a good day, engine wise the car performed faultlessly like a champion that it is. I managed to start tackling left handers as they have been my achilles heel so to speak, so glad to make headway on that. Had a run as a passenger early in the day in a mates car which really helped to visualize a few things on the track.

I still have a few steering issues ever since my new adjustable tie rod ends and rods went in, will have to look into getting this set up so it doesnt carry on.

Also there is a bit of noise from the camera strap vibrating on the mount, didn't realise that at the time it was doibng that or be that noisy so next time I will make sure to pad it :)

No major updates here, car has been deregistered due to defect notice :( smashed my front lip at one of the last drift days, so yesterday and today I got to work on a repair so it will sit on the car again.

When track staff gave recovered my lip

Haven't updated this in ages..

So I gave the car a make over.. I spent 20 hours prepping the car, about a week of 5 hour sleep nights, and 15hours airbrushing the car. (dad sprayed the base fawn colour and I've done the rest).

so mean with those blacked out head lights, what did you tint it with?

Mandi

Thanks guys :)

And the headlights have contact on them which I then airbrushed to save ruining the headlight itself, may redo them as you can only see the purple strobes when it's late arvo

Ok a bit of an update with some pictures.

I have added some writing to the tyres, done a neater job on my new federals but haven't put them on the car yet.

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/o558/mandi180sx/image.jpg

Fixed up the striping on the side of the car as per my original design, I hadn't the time to do it when I first did the inital airbrushing of the car, I still need to fix it up as I did it in the rain the day before the drift day.

Now I have a new edition, this car is for my daily, I want something that is great as a daily but still not going to be out of place at cruises etc, so this is it, a manual, 1jz soarer. Very excited I found a manual and something thats stock standard so will give me a great basis to make a really nice tidy car from. I think some people on this forum will appreciate a build like this so I may make a seperate build for this, not sure yet.

Anyway, first pic of it, like any of my cars it won't stay like this for long, Im really excited to have a nice tidy car to mod for once haha

Awesome 180, I love the new paint job and the fact that you and your father did it makes it even better.

Just read your blog aswell and agree with you 110%, within those first couple of laps you know the time and money is well spent and so worth it, although i'm building a circuit car not a drift car you get the same feeling.

looking forward to seeing the Soarer aswell, will keep an eye out on progress of both cars

Thanks :) mm it's just I guess drivers that aren't sponsored and just get out there and have fun etc.

Have added more airbrushing to the car, made fibreglass headlight covers for it and with my dads help he has fabricated up custom bonnet hinges to have the bonnet sitting better (not shown in pic) and finally line the front end up!
