Found this, and thought it was pretty cool:

It's a TV series from around 1990, www.double-clutch.net takes up the story:

Japanese TV star Tokoro George presents "Kuruma-wa Erai". This TV program featured many modified cars every week and sometimes held a 0-200m drag competition that was featuring cult cars. In this Youtube movie, you can see Mazda Chantez with rotary turbo charged engine that was built by Amemiya Racing, B210 Van from famous Sunny street racing team MFP works and SA22C RX-7 that was driven by great RE shop Okada Engineering. These cars were already famous in underground street racing scene these days, but had never been introduced for public until this TV was broadcasted.

Lots of tuner demo cars, even an F40! But my fave are the Elvis fanbois at the end....rockandroll....rockandroll :)

As for the Mazda Chantez mentioned above, here's the episode below. A Chantez is a little kei-car type thing, which was then stuffed full of turbo 12A goodness as a street drag racer for Re Amemiya:

So all these drag racing reality shows on Discovery Channel have a JDM ancestor!
