Hi all

Update on the mighty micra...

Pics and specs:

1996 Nissan K11 Micra LX

http://www.soasiandvd.com.au/files/micra1.jpg

Super-S front bar w/ driving lights, Series 2 front grille, Aspect FRP wide fenders, towhook, shaved side mouldings, single wiper… and a custom matt tungsten paint job! Sparco bonnet pins on order

http://www.soasiandvd.com.au/files/micra2.jpg

East Bear rear diffuser, Super March LED tails, badges and rear wiper removed

http://www.soasiandvd.com.au/files/enginebay.jpg

Spitfire leads, NGK plugs, Odyssey light battery, Whiteline tower bar, custom cold air intake w/ pod filter & cold air duct, Exedy clutch, Jun 4.3kg flywheel

http://www.soasiandvd.com.au/files/grill.jpg

The left grill actually works quite well, as part of it is an opening for my cold air duct, and the other part is to cool the header…

http://www.soasiandvd.com.au/files/header.jpg

Thanks to Nick for help with the extractors! Set up is Hurricane 4-2-1 header + flexi pipe + hi flow cat + 2 inch mandrel bend system + 3 inch dumpy tail muffler

Lightweight Weds Sport TC-05 14 x 6.5 (+20 offset) wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes R888, black APX nuts, full Pulsar N15 1.6 brake upgrade, Motul RBF600 dot 5.1 fluid

http://www.soasiandvd.com.au/files/HID.jpg

Mu secret HID hi/lo kit 6000K with Super-S driving lights hooked up!

http://www.soasiandvd.com.au/files/rg.jpg

(Old pic with Micra DBA discs) Suspension set-up includes; Racing Gear JTC N1 Dampers, Whiteline gear (front & rear sway, castor/anti lift kit, panhard rod, bump stop kit, rear trailing arm, tower bar)

COMING SOON

http://www.soasiandvd.com.au/files/tomei.jpg

Tomei Poncams 256degree in/ex and also a piggyback ECU (Apexi AFC Neo). The engine was cracked open to inspect condition of the head before cams were installed, looks like I will need to order a new hydraulic tensioner before we install cams…

Will be looking at respraying the car next year inside out in matt black, will need to take out engine and will also do a wire tuck!

Call me sissy but the car has become pretty unbearable driving on a daily basis now because the suspension is so stiff, inside is so loud (wonder why… check below), and there is no comfort controls whatsoever… I think I may need to buy another daily driver soon and just leave this as a toy.

Having said that, I love the car and plan to keep it as long as I can! Stay tuned for more updates and thanks for looking…

Cheers
Daniel

Def needs the Euro plates. Normal plates would look gay

Anyways thats an awesome little Micra you have picked up. Looks so goddamn cool. Are you going to do much to extract power or you just gonna tweak a few things?

Cheers josh, probably just the complete exhaust system, header + metal cat + cat back and a straight pipe for the track.. already got a quote from westside muffler, ain't cheap though but their worksmanship is top-class. After that will drop in the tomei cams and adjust fuel.. that's about it really, not aiming for something ridiculous (if i was I'd drop the SR20DE in there...) but that should suffice for me.

about the euro plates, the cars front plate mount is moulded onto the front bumper (uk exported car), so yeah with any other plates would look wierd... I wanted to get the black euro plates but the front one is slimline:(

Oooh good buy Daniel, welcome back here. Too hard to stay away from the scene, isn't it..? :P

I met up with the new owner a month back and drove this car again, and my god.... Why did I sell it?? The new Japanese owner Yoshi has done a few changes to it, mostly small things but more importantly tasteful things. The car has transformed again, but in a year or so when he gets bored of it, I will surely buy it back!
Umm... no I've got dibs on it next. Fo' real this time!

You can't compare the 2 cars. The MX-5's chassis is superior and so is the driving position and feel as well. :( I miss my MX-5 (I'll keep saying it).

lol, have you ever seen what an SR20 looks like in a Micra? They're a pretty tight squeeze (choppage of reinforcement at the front, some have made firewall modifications.)

That first Micra is an ex Ice Racer, mid mounted 420 horse VQ35. 4 wheel steer too.
Brilliant buy on that Micra Daniel, I was watching it but ended up buying my own locally.

Daniel, your DIY might be ridiculous but it's still 14 steps up from my own DIY efforts lol. That rear diffuser looks great!

I was a little bit skeptical about keeping this Micra a month ago, but I said... ahh screw it, no car this cheap would give me this much enjoyment.
