Hi all,

Im kinda new to all this so bare with me. This is my series 3 gtr that i purchased roughly over a month ago. it was all stock standard apart from a cat back exhaust, top secret style hood and some RE55S semi slick tyres.

from here il post up new additions and the journey it takes whilst trying to stay true to the jdm art!!!!

the purpose is mainly a street car/weekend weapon. As ive been out of the import game for awhile having sold my r33 gtst some 2-3 years ago, im trying to bring back the import flavour in a town majority populated by v8's!

The guys at C-red have looked after me pretty well so far mark, see how it goes.

ended up changing the power fc for a haltech plug and play and this solved the problem, also changed the fuel pump to walbro one.
I should finally be able to drive it for the first time tomorrow as it had to get transported by truck to where i live!!!! Got Bride floor mats and Nismo gear knob waiting to go in, small but still aesthetically pleasing!!
Also tomorrows pay is going to a new set of rims to do the tires some justice :) :)

when money will allow im thinking

Bride low max Gias III, driver and passenger
Auto select front lip
Garage Defend cooling panel and tossing up between Garage Defend wing or auto selects devil wing to replace stock??

garage defend cooling panel is beautiful, wish i never sold mine. we're in the same boat, having previously owned gts-t's then moving onto gtr's. best part is that some parts are swapable so im lucky to be able to reuse a few old parts i kept for a rainy day. bride seats ftw, ive got 2 zeta 2's in carbon that hug my love handles great lol your car is coming along well mate

i found the bonnet pin rivets to be loose too so thats on the to do list. BUT the car made 390hp on 95octane :( i live in the northwest pilbara and so far thats all we have until next year or so. i would of much rathered the mid 400s it would of made on 98 octane, but what can you do.

390 from -5's, injectors, dumps and full exhaust on 95. Sounds promising.
Anything else?

You don't want to drop your phone under the seat as you can't get your hand between the rails and the floor, I'll take some shots tomorrow for you

not really much else in it for the power department apart from fuel pump, z32 afm, front mount and haltech ecu.

i might change the bonnet, if only carbon bonnets were legal eh :(

thanks!!! i was hoping someone had used them before and im not really going to use them in the wet. Hopefully when i sell my ute i can buy something more practical for wet :)

25-01-12, 08:09 PM
cool just wanted to fill you in before you feel as though you threw away good money on crap rubber. since my car is a semi-daily, it has too meet daily requirements including potential wet weather driving. on another note about the tyres though, the tread patter is a little weird as its a high performance outer-tyre with semi slick inner-tyre design, contributing to its great dry handling capabilities. due to this, i also found that it will wear out faster, this is comparing against Bridgestone RE11's which is meant to have the same UTQ (treadwear rating). next up im trying the federal RS-R's to see how they go. design looks like it will handle the wet ok :)

JDM33
25-01-12, 10:04 PM
cheers, cant wait to give them a try. Well they will last longer than the RE55S that are on there now, awesome tyre but a bit much for the street. Especially when the heat cycles are just wasted and the tyre life is short when a street tyre would be more practicable.
i was hoping to give the advan AD08 a try but i picked up the NT05 for a pretty good deal. maybe next time!!!!????

new spoiler is on its way :)

TE's are 18x10+20 which were all I could pick up quickly from Perth.

Definite defect? Cops can defect you for anything, not having an air bag is the least of your worries, if you do get a defect, just swap back your factory steering wheel :)

Get some R34 Vspec pedals :)

Enjoyed reading your build thread so far. The series III's look staunch especially with the larger front lip and the xenons etc.
They hold their value up pretty well too.

Which one do you enjoy driving the most? The GT-R or the Maloo?

JDM33
06-06-12, 12:22 PM
Thanks dimi, the lip and xenons definitely set it apart from the earlier series I agree. I would have to say the GT-R would have to be the most "enjoyable" just being able to put your foot down through corners is an awesome feeling in itself. It's stable and the way it punches out of corners is amazing. but the maloo is definitely more comfortable and makes long distance driving a breeze! Just being able to go down a gear and it's all there waiting to hammer. But they both have their pro's and con's, gtr puts the smile on my face though

Hey Alex, the seats are pretty comfortable once you get used to them. Like you said the main problem is just getting in and out. But in saying that, the way these seats support you and at the same time freshen up the interior it's a small problem. To tell you the truth I don't want to get out once I've been driving around they are that good

At the moment its still pending a few items as I'm planning to get rid of the whole cream leather interior, just need rails and a passenger seat now and its all happening in two weeks time after my exams. Oh and also, just read your blog saying they dont recline more than whats pictured, so basiclly now the back seat is useless? (instead of being half useless like they were before lol)

JDM33

:) awesome!!! but sorry for ask... what are the function of that Tarzan GBox lol!!!

JDM33
13-07-12, 09:05 AM
This is Do-Lucks explanation

Tarzan Yamada applies his knowledge and experience to produce a new G-Sensor that improves 4WD performance under any condition!

The “G Box” is connected to replace the stock G-sensor and responds multiple times faster to control the 4WD system (ACD/AYC/ET-S etc.) Parameters such as Front/Rear & Left/Right torque distribution; duration and timing have all been refined by Tarzan himself over multiple test sessions in many different cars of varying specification.

Optimisation of the G-Sensor signal allows improved acceleration and cornering at levels which previously felt impossible to achieve. The improved traction gained from the G-Box is reminiscent of the feeling from a mechanical LSD but without the associated noise and discomfort.

Whilst differences can be felt under all circumstances, it is particularly noticeable under braking. Improved response time allows full optimised use of the 4WD system to improve stability whilst braking. G-Sensor signals are also sent to the ABS system where the reduced response time improves the performance “feel” of the braking system.Unleash the full potential of your braking system with the Tarzan G Box!

Tarzan G Box has been setup to allow pro level drivers to improve performance on the race track with many top level tuning shops already improving their lap times on the circuit. However, the setup has also been tested by drivers of different abilities on both the road and race track. The results were simple… All drivers improved with the Tarzan G Box on the circuit and also felt more comfortable and safer in their car on the road. Safer and Faster! Tarzan G Box can deliver it all!

your engine bay is grey so if you got it resprayed it will look weird. if only you had a dark coloured car LP2 would be ideal. also when it comes time to sell the car it may raise a few eyebrows.

just have to wait and see my brothers :)

so today i received my Tarzan G Box in the mail, so it was straight down to the garage to put it in.

here is what the kit contains
http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/n632/JDMBCNR33/new%20pics%20bcnr33/C2C1F8E6-5F7D-475D-8DF8-85EF6B4CFB8D-7097-00000561CAEFE99E.jpg

unplugged the old sensor and slid the plugs off
http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/n632/JDMBCNR33/new%20pics%20bcnr33/7A73055B-C17B-49CF-9F0F-FE9B9DEA5336-7097-00000561E04B60BA.jpg

new one plugged in!!
http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/n632/JDMBCNR33/new%20pics%20bcnr33/5584D720-5802-4781-A0A1-FBBE75EE9DE7-7097-00000561F30ED504.jpg

Now that was all well and good but once trying to re fit the centre console, i bumped into my first problem..... the g sensor now sits too high ontop of the standard position. Which stops you from putting in the side screws and if pressed down too hard, pops off the coin holder compartment.
Due to time constraints, i just had to leave it for now and come back to it.

The Test Drive

During normal driving obviously there is no notice at all, its until you press down the accelerator that you really notice the change.
I brought the mrs along to have a second opinion as she loves the R to bits :P
We both confirmed straight away that acceleration has now become a lot smoother, almost so that it feels that the power has dropped back. As there is no longer the hard kick when the turbo's come on!!!
Then through corners it instills courage as the car is noticeably more planted and firm, its almost like you can feel the attessa working more and sending the power where it should be. Also you can tell how much more responsive the torque needle is (even though reading its not really accurate) when sending torque to the front.
Yes the braking feel has also been improved, there is less movement and the weight seems to transfer alot smoother also when getting on the middle pedal.
Lets just say that it put a smile on my face and has change the way the car handles, so i give it a thumbs up. Yes it is a bit pricey, but hey its what cars are about!!

Looking forward to going for my next drive already!!

What's the difference?

Four - Twelve
25-08-12, 10:44 AM
Not personally a fan of LEDs, but each to their own. Unless there is a big difference in price i'd say go with Nismo - guaranteed perfect fit.

What power is it currently putting out? Guessing low mid 300s?

Also try to keep twins if you can. 2860 -5s are good for about 450kw, which should plenty for street and track. Not to mention nothing screams 'defect me' like a high mount. Although laws might be different in WA. And once again, the decision is ultimately your call.

JDM33
25-08-12, 12:19 PM
i havent priced the qest items yet, but qest also use standard nissan tail lights- that they take apart and place their own LED's and boards in. So fitment is not an issue, i guess they do look nearly identical but the qest items seem moe clear and brighter than the nismo item.

It's running 340.7kw atw on -5's, i know exactly what you mean about keeping things hidden as its my preferred way when it comes to the engine bay.

SiGNAL
26-08-12, 01:37 AM

Raimie,

In your first hand experience, what is the performance difference between the r33 and r34? (not aesthetics)

JDM33
03-10-12, 01:09 AM
Mingy-

It's a bit hard as cars both have different parts both in the power and handling departments. But driving the 34, it feels like a smaller/boxier car. It also feels a lot tighter when it comes to handling (sway bars/coil overs being the reason for this) though the 34 had more rigidity than the 33- also the front over hang was shortened after complaints of the 33 being too long (too much weight up front).

Power wise, once again it's different. The big difference being the HKS V CAM system. Check my blog for more of a run down but I highly recommend it if you can justify the money's. At the end of the day I'm more happy in the 34 as its always been the king to me, but there is just something about the 33 that I love.

You thinking about getting a 34?
