__________________________________________________ ____________________

this is how it looked in the AD on car sales... only to find that nither the wheels or bonnet came with it....

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/10579866.jpg

After some deliberation with one of my close friend with more knowlege then myself on imports, I decided to take it for a drive... surprised with the power etc i said, yep here's a deposit ill see you next week.

When i picked it up, the guy said he had no idea what was needed for the roadworthy, so removed virtually every aftermarket part and bodykit... and said, here you go man... put it back together...

he handed me a handful of intake piping, intercooler, FMIC, BOV, pod and virtually every piece of aftermarket bodyparts...

I finally got it home, not knowing the car, at night from melbourne to "out the sticks" (4 hour drive) and had a short night sleep...

that weekend i started to temporarily repair the front bar... literally falling to bits in my hands.

So, for the minute, (untill I had a good few hours to glass repair it) I stitched the front bar, cos it was falling apart after trying to navigate my driveway entrance...

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/05052011002.jpg

replaced the mis-matched stock rear bar with the one I picked up off the guy in doncaster..

Ready for the new intake pipe to be fabbed at my local exhaust centre, the dose pipe was dodgy as...

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/06052011002.jpg

And finally (with then bonnet popped for the guy) The first niceer shot of my new 180 ;-)

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/06052011.jpg

got the "bitZa" intake pipe (between the MAF and the turbo) welded up, as it was poorly made and kept bursting at the silicon hose joiners on friday, ready for the local cruise..

last night I spent 4 hours putting on the Greddy intercooler that came separet with my car... the guy had left out a few important fittings.. so I tried to make do with what I had... anyone tried to stretch a black bit of vulcanised rubber pipe joiner from 2 inch to 2.5 inch...? it can be done... about an hour of elbow grease... i was still sore days after.

finally got it all on, but for some reason the boost isn't breaking past 5psi (with a 16psi boost tee)??? vacuum and boost leaks will be the problem...

Chewies Philosophy: (There was a heap more before this tho)

I put the carbon wing back on to see different styles the car could sway towards.

with the GReddy intercooler fitted...

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/18052011.jpg

Rolled my rear guards ... surprised the previous owner hadn't especially with the crazy amount of tyre that was outside the guard. was gonna pump them about 10-15mm but decided otherwise...

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/24052011.jpg

Started having troubles with it breaking down under load, thinkiing it was coil packs... realised it was a slight exhaust leak getting sucked into the MAF and totalling the Z32

The steering wheel is a deep dish grant classic. Had it for ages.

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/photo-5.jpg

Had the old one out and the grant classic in, in 10 mins! ;-)

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/photo-6.jpg

mock up... The center hole in the steering wheel won't fit the horn button. It's the only way that button assembly will fit, I painted the metal surround to match the wheel.

I looked at the state of my tyres and realized that I needed new ones ASAP, so went on the hunt for new wheels...
This was a messy time, cos different people had different idea's, (and they would say that i didnt wanna listen) looked into some Panasports, but the sale fell through. finally it was getting too dangerous driving on the non existant rubber on my stock GTST wheels... so went for a set of Black Drifteks, they look ok, in my opinion, they may be "soooooo 2006", but it was a good starting point.

after wanting to go the whole m ile without doing enough research... bought an itake plenum that was "supposed' to fit my redtop with a 90mm throttle body... found out later it was an S15 one, even tho the guy selling it saID it'd fit.

waste of money, mind you got most of it back on-selling it.

So, after alot of thought... instead of colour matching the pearl white that nissan painted from factory for $500 for 2 litres, i decided to paint the whole car with an easily matched colour.

so heres the start of repairing and aligning the front guard.

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/IMG_0375.jpg

starting with the smaller of parts, I wanted to see if the colour was what i wanted, and how it responded to differences in lighting conditions.
So we painted the skirts first.

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/IMG_0376.jpg

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/IMG_0377.jpg

You cant really tell in the pic, but there is a huge difference in how the new white reflects light

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/IMG_0378.jpg

Whilst waiting for the paint on the skirts to dry, i asked my mate how hard it'd be to paint the roof black... he grinned and threw me a roll of masking tape...

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/IMG_0379.jpg

Some owner before me must have polished the car with armorall or a silicone based wax/polish... so it orange peeled... virtually straight away... :-/

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/IMG_0379.jpg

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/IMG_0381.jpg

We ended up in the end running more paint, then blocked it back... was a bit of a dam pner on my day...

Very nice mate, so different to how you got it. I would go without the gt wing, myself, and get a ducktail spoiler, and maybe one of the spoilers that go at the top of the rear window (now that I mention them, I have no idea what theyre called lol- window spoiler?).

Also, screw what anyone says about the wheels, i reckon if it looks good and you like it, go with it, regardless of whether its not the trend anymore- in fact I commend people that go against trends.

I got excited when I thought u welded up the wing in some of those pics, not the case.

You didn't block back the roof before painting it? Just painted straight over polish?

Car is coming along

-eunos-
22-12-11, 11:03 AM
Nah I did block it, but the guy painting it said the silicone seeped through the paint, we almost went to bare metal at one point to see if it made a difference, no luck, so we used silicone drops in the paint after that, no hassles after tgat

It's still the old eunos 180sx and it shows... Tinted taillights look really bogan and the wing is seriously terrible... Looks a bit better though, good to see you listened to Chewie and painted the roof black, ties it together better, maybe piss some people off and get spacers and make it a bit better fitting..

minus the wing and tinted taillights, i think it looks pretty good.

well done

-eunos-
24-12-11, 05:33 PM
It's a very light tint, IMO it ties right in with the black and white theme. Other then the very subtle blue of the window tint, and the rego plate blue. It's all black and white on the exterior. Which is what I want

The girlfriend got me these vents thinking they were the oem sun-shades for the back windows for x-mas... (thanks babe) that i was banging on about.
as she imported them from japan, i couldnt really send them back, instead i colour-coded them to suit the car.

it makes it a little different looking then all the other white 180's with black roof and bonnets but without being over the top.. they look better in the flesh. (will upload pics from my mates good camera soon)

I took the wing off yesterday and it improved the look with those vents 100 fold... reason i haven't done anything with the rego plate, is cos I havent made up a 'hung' bracket yet, as i don't want screw holes into the front of the bumper (I remove the rego plates at local car shows)

the car is still a work in progress... i am writing a list of all the little things i haven't done yet, so i can just do them and tick the job off the list.

I was taking to Sam at Dr. Drift the other day and he wanted to swap a duck tail for that big CF wing... i jumped at the thought, but on closer inspection the ducktail was more outragous then that CF wing... lol it hung like 12" from the back of the car and was really chunky...

I decided otherwise.

hey man nice 180!

was wondering how did you get your type x tail light smoked black.

-eunos-
29-03-12, 04:58 PM
You'll get flamed for doing it... It's 'anti JDM ricer mod' they'll say... VHT spray paints sell a product called niteshade. You'll find it in any good auto parts shop in the spray paint section. Only thing that'll get it off is carby cleaner... You won't need many layers, make sure it's nice and even coat. Practice on a bit of cardboard for a good spray pattern

Chewie, as I said, it's still an ongoing project... now I have the spacers, I need to roll the front guards and then tuck the tyre... so thats more a time thing then anything...
the rears springs need resetting... that will take a little while, as I will have a car out of action for a week or two till i have the springs back. (i have holidays coming up so will organise it done then)
and no shit... the front is black... im sure i didn't forget to mention that that will also be rectified soon... dont you find shit more interesting seeing the different stages of completion instead of seeing Stage A ------ Bam------ Completed project...
I'm sure alot of people would agree, you prefer reading 135 pages of Bab's build thread with every little step (Im not claiming my project is anywhere as awesome or cool as yours though Babs... dont stress) then a 2 page thread with a start and end pic....?

Something different.? then i can swap and change whenever I want...? all my 180 front stuff is all stored away.
So it's not like im selling it up and going down the permanent sil80 path...
and all i need for a complete type x kit now is a type x front bar and rear spoiler...
the rest I have all stored away, so there's that option down the track also, if I wish to do that.

It's really great knowing you have the flaxibility to have three different looks thats only and hour to complete each... (once everything is colour coded that it...)

(he since found them and I went and picked them up...)

If they are LEGIT made in japan, purchased from Japan or a otherised dealer .... Good on you

BUT
With them being what close to 1k-1500 each, set of rails are $400- $500 natural reaction is to be sceptical, espectally when most of the time you see it with peoples somewhat 'budget builds'

I am sick of people saying "got some brides"
But they are copies on unversal rails from taiwan.... Not brides, just people wanting the look

Not really... A seat is the difference betweeen walking out of an accident, or possible serious injury if it doesnt hold up
Genuine bride, recaro ect have a reputaion for quality and the fact that they will hold up. though they are expensive because of the presige/devolpment ect
Cant afford that you have other options, like sparco, velo ect.. agian still have high, if not higher reputaion in motorspot and can be had for a lil cheaper, just dont look as pretty
Hell even autotechnica have passed ADR approval for most there seats and are acutally more legal than brides ect. But most of them look a lil tacky. But my mate has a set of fixed backs in grey that actually look quite nice, adr approved and hold reasonalbly well. Even autotechnica have somewhat of a image and reponisblity for quality to maintain

The problem with copys .... (Putting aside the major issue of copyright ect) is that there is no reponsibilty for safety/ quality control. It is sold buy some dude in tiwan that has at most bought a bride and try to copy it, but cheaper to make a short term profit. There is no knowing the quality of the welds, fiberglassing or reclining mecanism as there is no previous reputaion for there ablity to hold up. Even the different types of copys may be made from 3 diff factorys.

Im a massive brand whore.. yes
But even putting aside the whole debarkable of people that are buying for the look, they what it now and want it for cheap. Genuine you have a trust of quality and R&D that the seat may help/not be detremental in a accident

Would prefer to spend a couple of hundred extra on a seat now than have a injured back for the rest of my life. Or worse have a passanger injured in a dodgy seat, rather than a OEM one that has atleast be approved to handle an accident (eg even upgraded from s13 to s15/gtr pass) and have there injury on my head the rest of my life

true true, i was more talking about the holding skills is basically identical bar maybe a bit of comfort... and that its more the rails and bolts that should be done better..../upgraded anyway if you plan on track/actually using the seat/straining it...

ah... ok. fair enough... lol... im currently researching a never done before gauge setup... just trying to source some very elusive parts atm..
so keep an eye out for my next mini project update.

Are you going to mount them in the floor? Gauges have been placed in the most useful places (A-pillar, dash, glovebox, steering column) for quite a while now.

Where are you going to put them?

saad

Or a custom cluster, which has been done before also

like the cover you can buy that goes in the vent, holds 2 gauges but still has a inbuilt vent

-eunos-
28-05-12, 01:50 PM
not quite... I've got some Mazda Precidia ball type vents coming from the US, which will be grafted into the center hole. so, yes locky, it'll work like the "one you can already get with the vent in the middle..." but this one will be adjustable for both driver and passenger... ill keep the progress updated. and will look hopefully nicer then the plate you can already get.

This year I've been asked to organise part of the car show called 'show us your toys' based in hamilton vic. Its basically a full day of cars, trucks and bikes, with a live battle of the bands, 'real' zombies and a bodyart competition. I'm looking for a few stand out entry's this year to run alongside our small group of local jap car owners. last year we had roughly 10 thousand people people through the gates and are hoping for more this year... if anyone would be interested in bringing down their cars to enter into the event that would be fantastic! cheap accomodation is available at 'The Central' hotel on the main street with regular security and CCTV covered parking out the back.

Inbox me if you would be interested in entering into the event (free of charge)

WOW.........

1. The wing would only slow you down on a dragstrip due to extra drag.
2. You wouldn't need downforce for the speeds your car would be capable of.
3. The wing isn't mounted correctly to the chassis of the car therefore wouldn't make any downforce anyway.
4. The wing looks hideous.

I like the journey, the evolution of it... I like having the option to have like 5 different combinations for my car as I'll have two fronts, two sets of sideskirts and two rears. I like the fact that it's my car, and that i get inspiration from different people's builds etc.
I dont claim that I know a whole lot about these cars... I'm still learning, about every aspect.

I respect that some of the guys on here are the 'forfathers' to what australian JDM culture has spawned, from honda fan boi's to traditionalists like Fonssy... And i can see how they could look at me as just a noob with no clue. but just remember that they were once noobs too, and with knowledge and wisdom comes alot of hard work, trials, errors and inginuity. I'll leave you with this:

I am enjoying this journey with my 180, if you don't like where its heading then just sit back and observe... you will find that banging me over the head with abuse wont solve the problem... neither will copious amounts of Aquatint (whatever Chewie recons) give me ideas and i will think of them, I dont blantently ignore good ideas. so guys, let it be.

Now be more useful and identify these grilles.. they seem to be oem and came on my s13 front... Ive never seen them before, can someone please help identify if they are infact oem.?

What I said probably came out a bit harsh. It's just that this haters gonna hate thing is getting very old and everyone's just sort of saying

'Oh you don't like my shit? You're a hater. Gonna hate. Hate harder idgaf'

and then everyone else is like

'yeah i hate it, car culture sucks and im a tool'

rather than the first guy just being all yoda/buddha like
"diversity is the fruit of life"

and then everyone else going

'woah man right on'

And I'll wager that grill was home-made or at the very least aftermarket. Never seen anything like it coming from Nissan's factory since the Z432 model S30s.

Pull the loom out, untap everything and cut out/rerun what you need in the bay, what you don't need at all and what you need to keep but could be put inside. Bay Fusebox under/in the glovebox, make up a panel that fits up to the bolts off the firewall and that is that. Not overly difficult, just a little time consuming.

If it's that low all round then I guess I should say well done. The artistic pics of the back and sides however don't make it look low at all at the back..

Side on profile pic?

Are you rocking 17's still or those shudder worthy 16's?

if you had 17's at the rear in better sizing to make up for that ghetto, all one colour, and sacked it, this would be spot on...

They were 15's, and yes I've gone back to 17's... its tucking about 2/3 of an inch of tyre in the rear.

don't have a good side shot yet, but will soon... it's now pretty much how I want it sitting, just need paintwork.

.Dave, what do you mean 'sacked it'? im gonna run something like 8mm slip ons for the rear.

It's been a while between updates... got sick of my car looking whack... so I chucked the 180 front back on... rolled the guards in the front and chucked in a pivot controller. broke one of my roof racks (dont ask how)

roof rack is so you can stand out the sunroof with a rifle shooting roos off the main road at 120kmph.
I wouldnt bother going any lower unless you have adjustable arms. Obviously people on the internet don't drive your car so their priority is going to be making it look prettier. If I were you my priority would be balacing handling (as in being able to set a decent pace in safety) with ride quality and then be thinking about low tertiary.

Sad that people do such things these days... :(

this car makes me miss my typeX :(

roof rack is so you can stand out the sunroof with a rifle shooting roos off the main road at 120kmph.

not the first person to point that out lol... my bro is a mAdcoRe shooter lol..

that front lip sits about an inch and a half off the ground. if anyone tells me to go lower, i'd tell them to go f**k themselves... ha ha

it's roughly sitting (lookswise) how I want it now... after this weekend ill have the option of having 3 different setups for it. cos the missus doesn't want me to have more then one car, I took the liberty to give it 3 different looks (cos I get bored easily)

so it'll have:
180sx GP sports full kit
S13 GP sports full kit, with nismo grille
S13 oem front and nismo skirts, with type x rear pods.

and any combination of them...

-eunos-
13-11-12, 05:36 PM
So the S13 GP sports front i bought turned out to be mint FRP.. which is great if I wanna keep it as low as it is at the minute..

It's a bit worse for wear after doing ~900kms on country roads on saturday/sunday.

-eunos-
09-01-13, 10:15 AM
So last night I started to swap the headlight covers for the 2UP clear ones on my mint J's headlights.
So i pulled out my brand new (never used) heatgun and set to work... after about 10 minutes the little blower motor inside the gun tripled in speed for about 5 seconds then it incinerated itself in my hand. it literally burst into flame. so much for 12 months warrenty... pffft.

so i borrowed my neighbors and took both glass covers off and cleaned away the sticky glue.
one of the reflectors looked like it had some corrosion on it, so i used a soft rag and some maguires cutting compound and gently started rubbing. instead of polishing back to silver, it stripped the silver coating, it then that i realized that it wasn't corrosion, but the brass underneath already showing through!!!

I cant have 3 mint reflectors and one dodgy one, cos the clear covers show up EVERYTHING!!!

so i tracked down a (kind of local) electroplator that will do it for $30..! WIN!

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/IMG_2062_zps886d9913.jpg

so after driving it for a few weeks like this, i got defected for too low... the copper couldnt even put his shoe under the front lip...

so after an awkward discussion about how the hell do i drive it on 'our' roads he let me off on a minor...

the following weekend i jacked up the BC-Br's as high as they would go to prove a point. 17cms of clearance under the front lip.

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp21/jedijason961/IMG_2101_zps82fed948.jpg

Baby Jesus cried that day...

so the following week my headlight covers came in so i got started on swapping them out... after i incinerated a brand new heatgun and borrowed my neighbors i finally removed the glass covers.
only to find that the chrome on one of the J's reflectors had serious corrosion... I wasn't going to be able to afford or even find one to butcher up just for a reflector, so i sent it away to get re-chromed... my car was off the road for 3 bloody weeks as they dicked around with the reflector... which in the end was less then satisfactory.

oh well...
