View Full Version : my 92 sw20 mr2
I bought this about 3 months ago and i love driving it.
The car is pretty much as i bought it, just needed a new clutch, rear tires and brake pads
sound system consisted of four 4 inch speekers and 4 tweeters, so i threw in some sony 420watts 6x9's and a rampage 600watt 2 channel amp
interior was all black and red when i bought it, still dont know if i like it or not

You're not a shit driver? You're not allowed to drive by yourself because you have to learn how to do uphill starts and parallel parking.

I have bald rear tires and over 2 MR2's worth of power less weight over the rear wheels than you and i could still control my wheel spin up and down hill.
Maybe you should learn to drive.

He's trying! Gotta practice the hillstarts before hillclimbs.

Thats the whole point!! Less weight over the wheels! Your car is Basic to control in a drift...... MR2 somewhat more difficult

We're not talking about drifting though. We're talking about keeping the rear tyres with traction.
More weight over the wheels means more downforce, which means more grip. Having less power means less prevalence for a heavy right foot to spin the tyres up. And, being NA, he can't even blame an uneven power delivery for it.
If he's wheelspinning in a 1ton+ NA 1.8L MR car going up a hill, either he has a problem or his car does...and the latter would have to be pretty serious to overcome all the advantages a MR car has in that situation.
If its a handful going up a hill, it would be downright dangerous on level road.
its not a 1.8 its a 2 litre

Fair enough.
Still going to be approx. 120kW at the flywheel on a good day, which is not a great deal. Especially not when you've got so much weight over it.

i think they make less than that, and with the stock soft suspension, It doesnt add up..
i still dont get how an L plater manages to get "its wheels spinning" tho...or is your Guardian like my old man when i was on my L's? Sleeps? haha

super ego battle round one :P
nah, just everyone thinks MR impossible to drift
watch that first option drifting video, there is a mr2 ripping it up, and some of those people cant help but understeer FR cars into the dirt
I am willing to test this difficult mr2 dori theory.
i'm sure if you ask marty nicely.....
