View Full Version : F**k I hate washing my car...

I love cars, but hate washing them. They look hot once they're clean, and I feel great after cleaning them, but then the very next drive they get dirty again!!!
In fact... I hate washing my clothes too (I have a washer but still take my massive pile over the the laundramat lol!), and I tend to pile up my dishes too despite having a dishwasher!!!
Maybe I'm just lazy lol. You people the same or is it just me?!
Ahahah! I'm the same when it comes to cars, but not with my bike. The bike takes 20 minutes to give a good wash, so I do that pretty often. It lives in the garage (which will soon also be my office! Yay, sitting right next to my motorbike!), and doesn't get particularly dirty while riding unless it's raining. Rain water is so dirty :(
As for house stuff... nar, I tend to clean each dish as I'm finished with it. Rinse quick, scrub hard, rinse again, stick in the rack. Done! Laundry I generally do every couple of days.

I like washing my car. The only part I don't like is finding new imperfections while doing so, and being reminded of the old ones :( But then I go on a "post-wash drive" and it's all ok :D

I love washing the car...and then polishing. You can't compare washing the car to washing your clothes!
every1 just lazy in their own ways
I hate it too.
Its a chore that takes me 2 hrs :(

Im with you Justin im way to lazy to wash my car and im exactly the same in that ill often put off washing it cause I know the very next day its gonna be dirty again anyways.
Also mother nature has a personal vendetta against me and no matter how clear and beautiful day it is it will always rain the night I wash my car just to piss me off.

If you wash your car often, and keep it clean, then the dirt doesn't really stick to it and it only takes a short time to wash it clean.
For the MX5, I can wash it, detail the interior and polish it, all within 1hr flat.
...but if you let it get really dirty, then it can take 20mins to scrub the brake dust off one wheel :D

another reason i hate washing the car is becuase you find all the small dings and imperfections with it. esp those carpark accidents that you dont know are there :(

SCW detailing on Parra Rd near broadway (where big boyz toyz used to be) are endorsed and trained by meguiars......apparently they do an awesome job for only $29 using Meguiars products.
Food for thought.

^^ They do awesome work. Detailed my gf's FTO just before she sold it, really made it look good. Megs products aren't everyone's cup of tea but the guys at SCW are really good..

i hate washing my car aswell, hence why its almost filthy!! The swirl marks and scratches that are plain to see after i wash it are so depressing.
This sinature quote summed it up for me (Stolen from sau):
"SHOW AND SHINE ------> NOT THIS CENTURY"
it makes me feel better any time my car gets filthy and i don't wash it. I'll wait until next hailstorm for a new paintjob :D

I love washing cars! :D
I used to offer to wash customers and display cars all the time when i was working in car audio.
Although i've stopped working there so I haven't washed any cars in a loooong time.
Which makes me sad :( lol
i dont wash my car
eco wash does
better not knowing about imperfections
and i am lazy lol
they do a good job though
how much do eco wash charge u?
washing is ok, just dont like the fact that your effort has gone to waste after driving through rain the next day :P

That's why you get a white car. I usually only water clean my car (no soap). Quick and easy way to keep it constantly clean (not detail clean, but clean to most eyes)

Doesn't work that well when your white car has black exhaust crap all over the rear bar

i dont mind washing my car, but for some f**kn reason every time i wash my car it rains the next day, and it gets dirty again, i even check out the forcast b4 washing it so i dont waste my time but NAAAAA at the end it bloody rains.
eco wash rocks
what about just spray and wipe ur car ?
make it easier
I'm with Babs on this one. If you keep the car clean most of the time, then washing it is easy. I'm not as quick as him, but I do the wash, claybar, polish and interior detail in about 1.5hrs....
Justin, do you live near a car lovers? When I'm too lazy to wash with a bucket at home I just pop in to the closest car lovers, pop a $1 coin in the DIY booth, give it a quick spray, and in 2mins she's all good. Do this 3 times a week and the car is pretty much clean all the time regardless of weather... for under $5.
Too easy. :D

Not near a car lovers... but I think a fuel station down the road is similar. I just wish I could use my hose again. :(
hahaha Justin your just lazy :P
I love washing my car......its almost like modding it cause after your done washing and polishing and waxing which takes anything from 1-3 hours depending on how thorough I get...its almost like a new car..
You can stand back and look at the results of the last 1-3 hours of hard work....
But like mentioned before by someone....I HATE finding new scratches etc..... :(
With a black car you HAVE to wash it at least once a week
washing is cool.
id take 2-3 days to do a full wash.
and i always use my hose.
i wash my car every now and then, mainly before i take it out
but i really need a good detailer, someone who can do a really good buff.
anyone got any recomendations????

That's a crazy price... might have to get it done! I'm an idiot for reading this thread just after I spend 80 bucks buying mc guirs products for my car. Oh well it should be fun... althought I dunno how to use them properly. When do I use the paint cleaner, and then when do I use the clay? Anyone wana give me a quick run down please? lol
10 mins to wash my car this morning... :)

Anthony, more than a few people here have gotten Steve from Autoglym to detail their cars. Try PM'ing Babalouie who would have gotten him to detail his MX-5 for the JDMST Featured Rides feature shoot.
PS: Suga, 10 minutes!!! Your NC does resemble a bar of soap afterall :)

They just require more effort.
I wash using Zaino products - gets rid of unwanted swirls and other shit.
Or use Meguiars Final Inspection - that stuffs good too.
Ant - theres a guy called Plo on Taren Point Rd, apparently does alot of Summernats cars and contracts to Ferrari.
It's called Plo's detailing.....sort of opposite Strathfield car radios, next to a pocket bike shop.
Iam similar to the White car boys!!
My silver looks clean to the untrained eye.... But i still know its dirty!
I havent cleaned mine for a week or so and man it needs it!! My Rims have gone JDM Black!!!

I'm undecided...
On one hand I love washing the car because 1) the visual result is so god-damn rewarding; 2) I know I'm getting into every crack etc making it all clean and 3) it'll smell very nice afterwards too :P
But...
1) I find my rear bar requires too much attention these days (it's more yellow than white), 2) It takes up 3-4 hours of my life each time, 3) there's always something new, 4) those DAMN birds! and 5) why can't it rain in the catchment areas?
*PEACE*
JF, just pop over to caltex on Anzac pde, near the uni
they've got a self wash thing, or you can soap her up like you normally would and simply pay for the hose usage
i go there quite a bit
but for detailers, i'm on the SCW bandwagon, i had the $99 wash and polish by them before i went on an s15 cruise, and everyone thought I had a re-spray, i was like ... which pewter s15 owner would respray their car in factory pewter? evo 8 mr gunmetal FTW!
thanks for the details T ;)
ohhhhh u lucky bastards.
i CANNOT WAIT for the day i can drive my car out and give it a nice wash.
it's been over 5months. got about another 3.5months left :(

I don't mind washing mine. Gives me something to do that you can be proud of afterwards (and gives you a break from the girlie for a little while ). My car used to be washed about 3 times a week because the roads I drive nearly every day are layered in dust (black car and dusty ass roads don't mix too well... stupid Canal Rd...)
