I think the rice and blinging exists in Japan too Van. And perhaps the class is here too? I often see images of hot exotics in groups on a cruise, mostly owned by older men.

Burrows Days are a great example of rich men in hot cars rocking up on the one day. We're talking all sorts of cars, new and old.

One thing that I'm sure of though, is that I see so many JDM rides every day on the streets of Sydney. Many of which sure, aren't in great condition... but they're imports and they always work my neck muscles out as well as bring a smile to my face. :)

I've been to Japan many times over the years and to be honest, at first (esp if you hang around Tokyo) you tend to wonder where all the car enthusiasts are.

Compared to Australia, where a big proportion of guys are revheads, I'm not so sure if the % is quite as big in Japan. I'm sure it'll surprise you when I say that you can walk around Tokyo for a whole day, and maybe only see one or two performance-modified cars.

So for every done-up R34, you might see 9,999 white Corollas :D But when you DO find a modified car, it generally tends to have had more done to it...
