If you drew a line down the centre of a wheel, the high the positive figure the further the mounting surface sits towards the outside of a wheel. Higher positive offsets are normally found on FWD's. The further inwards the mounting surface sits the lower the offset.

ok wheel gurus i got a quick question

im ordering new outers for my AMEs
after measuring and pulling my hair out this is what i came up with

20x11.5 with -5 offset

should fit on the rear of my car, JUST
bit of gentle persuasion with a knock-o-meter should sort out any issues

what you guys think????

Wow thats gonna be pretty aggressive for even Gtr guards, you may want look at how your rear camber and alignment will be affected?
Also the other thing to consider may be drivability and tramlining as you are 4 inch's over standard wheel size and nearly double in width?
Other than that -5 will mean massive amounts of dish !!!

yea at the moment they are 20 x 9 all round with offset +28mm
camber is rubbish as it is so its only gonna get worse

so basically its gonna have a 130mm dish which is what a wanted :D
cant wair till they arrive and i can fit em up

shows how much you know, fool.

now seriously anyone who actually has an idea on what fits on an R32 GTR body
let me know your thoughts
thanks guys

To clear up what zero seems to be getting at, those wheels are more than likely going to be a bit of a struggle to fit under standard GTR guards. I previously had 9.5 +12's under the rear of mine running a reasonable amount of camber and there wasn't a whole heap of clearance. Considering my guards have been rolled and pulled a little, I doubt you'll fit 20x11.5's without FRP or fibreglass rear guards.

Stop being so aggressive about everything.

currently running 20x9 with +28 all round with 225/35/20
the 11.5s are going on the rear only
from guard lip to rim edge i have about 73mm and i haven't touched camber settings yet
there'e 60mm between the inside of the rim and the strut so no problems there

Just get them man ;) If they dont fit, work around them - camber, flare, pulled guards, wbk.

Peter's (bodyform) ex 32GT-R ran low offset 19x10.5inch (+10) Volks GT-S and he had to get his guards pulled at the rear (they used a similar tool to what dent busters use to get dents out...needed a respray after)

On 11.5inch rims, i wouldnt go lower than 245's. Although 325 rubber would look fantastic but obviously wont fit.

A'PEXi
09-11-07, 12:25 AM
in theory - it should fit on the rear... if you have plenty of inner clearance, then you will be able to adjust the camber to make it fit nicely... go like 265/30's

Excuse my noobness, but i was under the impression that you have to run the same size wheels/tires in a gtr otherwise you mess up the 4wd system or the speedo or something along those lines? or have i been had? or does it just refer to the inches your running instead of having staggered sizes?

that only applies if the car moove's, i doubt mooving off a tow truck to its bay at the autosaloon would cause any drama's with the attessa. however extended period's of driving would cause damage.

but on GTRs yes you have to have the same rolling diameter all round

on all cars you should try and keep the rolling diameter the same... otherwise your speedo gets put out, and that is not a thing the popo like.

Wheels for driving on street are Work XD9 Emotions 17x7.5+30 with 215/45-17 Michelin Pilot Sports. Getting new TE37s for the rear in january. Will be running 17x9 +30 for more rear end stability. Car is fairly skatey under acceleration on bumpy corners.

Thanks... posted a bunch more pics here http://forum.jdmstyletuning.com/showthread.php?t=6231

I think the wheel info is not likely to help anyone else, since its a rare car. But the principals work for all cars: Stretch tyres, flatten fenders, camber like hell. Personally i dont like the duckbill pulled fenders look, but that can work too...
