Hi guys,
Classic JDM is my style. So glad I found this website! Lots of cool cars here, I have a deep respect for many of them and love to see more JDM styled cars around the world. For now, here are pics of my car. 1973 C110 Skyline GT-R replica.

Ooh a Falcon wheel!! That is hot. On what car is it going? Personally, I am hanging out for a Nardi wheel! :)

Evan, no I got this some 3 years ago! Here is a picture of how it looked when I got it... The lady was the original owner, bought it when she was 60, I was lucky to start off with such an honest car.

http://storm.elxx.net/alfadog/c110/build_04.jpg

Civ_97, it is my daily driver!

The car still has the original L24 in it, 2.4 litre straight six, but I converted from auto to 5-speed, dual carbs, exhaust etc. so it's a little warm. It's quick, not fast. At some stage in the future I'd like to drop a nice mildly worked L28 into it and that would do just fine. RB25DET would also be nice, but I feel if I were to go all out I'd have to strip the car and do a ground up restoration to make it all perfect. But for now, the L24 will do.

I'm still working on it, hope to make a few improvements for a Bathurst meet I am going to in April! It is the 40 year anniversary of Prince Skylines at Bathurst this year!

Evan, the chassis was sold locally as a Datsun 240K. I guess its like the aussie spec AE86's being similar to the japanese ones, but with lower spec mechanicals.

Always have and always will be a big fan of the C110 replica GTR's... one of these days I'll get one.

Alfadog's car looks hot, as always :D

Wow you really have kitted it up so nice since when you bought it. Would have been awesome sourcing those rare parts for it!

Thought you might be on this forum too :P Yeah, the Skyline in Japan is the same as the 240K in Australia. Like Silvia / 200SX.

It's similar to the AE86s but not quite - the export 240K's had a 2.4 litre straight six rather than the 2.0 straight six (l20, not s20) of the domestic LWB cars. The other mechanicals were the same so really the export cars are superior. Japan also got short wheel base 1.6 and 1.8 litre cars, without IRS.

Of course, the big daddy of them all was the GT-R, it's just a pity the oil crisis happened when it did as they stopped production in May 1973 and never raced the KPGC110 officially.

Was it hard to find all that gear?
is it original or replicated parts.. like badges and flares and the like?

Yes, though I had some help from very knowledgeable friends! Most of the parts are replica parts. It's still expensive, but not as expensive as real GT-R stuff (if you can find it). Good real GT-R's fetch 6 figures these days, so real parts are very $$$.

P.S. If you notice, I still haven't got the rear side "GT" badges! Still waiting to find a pair less than $200

We need better shots of this car for the homepage on the site. Why not get it featured in a magazine?! :)

Alfadog
15-03-06, 11:21 PM
Yeah that's a rumour alright! Possibly one of the stupidest I've ever heard.

1. If you look at the KPGC110 you see a lot of research went into it - not just a "new shell on the C10".
2. Nissan had very advanced production line techniques, there is no way they would have a stockpile of 200-odd "spare" S20 engines.
3. (this is the killer) Fairlady Z432 and Fairlady Z432-R's were still manufactured after the KPGC10 ceased production. They too sported the S20 engine, so why spend a lot of money making an entirely new model just to flog off the warehouse of S20s?

Please dont take this personally funkymonkey it is not directed at you! I just hate rumours like this. Next someone will ask if Goertz designed it!!

As for being featured in a magazine... well it's certainly not showcar standard! I don't think many magazines would even consider running it, and I'd feel ashamed to open the bonnet! But thankyou very much, it is a great compliment!

15-03-06, 11:27 PM
Hey Alfadog.. just heard a rumour, not sure if it's true, maybe you can verify it for me.. but did Goertz design it? :D

funkymonkey
15-03-06, 11:36 PM
hehe well yeah most rumours are pretty loosley founded. Just like the rumour that they changed the rules of racing in australia to ban turbo cars so that the locals wouldn't get flogged by the R32 GTR's.

Anyways you should get your car out there, even if the car is fairly stock, its one of the nicest 240K/C110 replica in australia. If it was in melbourne, I'd be at your doorstep insisting that you let us put it in the upcoming SAU VIC calendar.

Yeah I love that rumour too :D If for nothing else but to get bogans all worked up...

funkymonkey, it's in the Qld calendar :D But that's an unofficial jobbie etc. so doesn't really count. There is one being restored/built in Melbourne though... will be better than mine :P Actually there are a few now, I must be a trend setter haha

*evil stare at bogan*

funkymonkey
16-03-06, 05:08 PM
haha if I had the time I'd be making a replica too. I visited a shop in japan that does fibreglass replacement fenders, panels and upholstery, and I saw one that they had restored... and goddamn do they look horn.

Although its always been a dream of mine to get a datto 240K, put an RB25DET in it, then toughen it up a little like the Shelby Mustangs.

BTW, did you get my PM on SAU re the GT badges?

Hmmmmm I wish I had a shot at buying this. For anyone interested about the rarity of C110 Ken Mary Gt-r's, not to be confused with the c10 or kpgc10 hakosuka gt-r, apparently there were only around 200 produced, someone mentioned the other day an exact figure of 197. Awesome replica mate.
