View Full Version : Lexus Australia builds IS250 show car
Left Lane News (http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/10/25/lexus-australia-builds-chrome-is-250/)
One look at this car and you might think it was destined for the SEMA car show later this month. But it was actually created by the folks at Lexus Australia for the upcoming Australian International Motor Show.
The chrome IS250 is the brainchild of the Lexus After Sales Division. In addition to the paintwork, the IS250 has been fitted with a new Lexus body kit - consisting of front lower spoiler, side skirts, rear lower skirt and a boot spoiler - which Lexus plans to introduce as a genuine Lexus Accessory late in 2006. It also features custom black aluminum wheels. Full image after the jump…

Not bad, not quite right but not bad at all.
Yeah, something about it bothers me. The front bar doesn't feel right, it needs skirts, the rear bar is boring, and it needs to be lower.

To be honest I actually really like the new front, skirts and rear. Sets the car off.
Only thing I dont like is the colour. Would have looked much better in a nice gunmetal instead of gowing for this flashy chrome finish.
chrome isnt all that flashy,
it looks more like stainless steel
esp IRL..
in pics it comes up shinnier.
paint job cost 30k.
ouch.
black wheels on it look HAWT.

Not bad IMO. For such a simple bodykit upgrade, the result sometimes really depend on the original design of the car body. And Lexus IS series always shines in the car body design.

Oh so it is, my bad. Looks similar kinda....They shouldve done a GS then, there way hotter haha.
I like the IS, just not the chrome paint job. Needs a lowering and a new exhaust. Perhaps the bodykit is just to subtle, its needs something more stand out.

Sorry but the new IS will always be fugly to me. Even with an awful bodykit and gawdy paint job...
Wheels are nice though.

Well said indeed, though I guess I could quote something from another thread that might sound familiar ;)
I reckon Justin. Cars these days are made to make an impact, and think about it. Not just immediately "like" it. It stands out, for sure. Definitely agressive, definitely Skyline. 1000x better than the original concept that's for sure. It's growing on me too.
I get what you're saying, but obviously you'd have to agree that the IS might end up growing on you too.

A man without contradictions is boring!!
The IS has been out on the road for a fair while now, and my opinion of it has only become worse. I honestly did try to like it - it is very modern and is almost an answer to flame-surfacing from BMW I feel. However this one is just all wrong IMO - it just tries too hard, and comes off looking very messy and unsophisticated.
My opinion only! Sure, one day I might like it. I'll let you know ;)
Yeah, I agree I'm not a massive fan of it. I do like it, but I definitely think some parts of it were ill considered. The grille, for example, is very weird.
The GS though, I like very much!

Just a few more to contribute to this thread. Although the chrome painting ain't the best, but the car really do stand out.
