I realised I haven't made a thread for my car, even though I've been posting here for a while now. My car is totally uninteresting compared to some of the awesome rides other members own, but eh.

http://members.optusnet.com.au/micvan/IMG_0362.JPG

There she is, looking quite miserable.

Current mods:

Jap-spec front bar
K&N Pod filter (!!!)
Pretty Momo and Razo interior bits.

Quite a list huh? Though this is all soon to change, being installed right now is:

U13 DET engine
VLSD gearbox
Gtir front brakes
Short shift
3" exhaust (turbo back)
Front mount cooler of undeterminable origin.

Hey Mike I wanna see the JDM front end and the differences between that and the Aus spec.

Come on! Educate us about these cars!

I know scathing (Alan) used to have on and holds it in very high regard. I've also seen one on the streets go thrgouh the Kingsford roundabout quicker than any other car I've ever seen.

The JDM front end has twin fog lamps fitted on either side rather than one. The bottom lip is also black, instead of body colour. It makes the front appear much sharper. The whole thing is also smaller, making the car look less nose-heavy

If there was anything I'd say the SSS does, it's handle well. You can throw it into corners with kamikaze-like speed and come out on top.

nice machine there buddy.

jst curious why u didnt go SR20DET instead :?:

psychotic
20-03-06, 03:47 PM
correct me if i'm wrong but a u13 det is a sr20det :)

curious to know how much you got the gti-r front brakes for? and is there a big improvement as i had factory gtir brakes and found them to be quite shit.

20-03-06, 04:11 PM
u13 is a bluebird attessa(sp?) motor if im not wrong :D

Mike.V?!
20-03-06, 04:30 PM
Aye, the U13 is a Bluebird and has an SR20DET.

The brakes are actually AD22VFs, from an N15 SSS. Same part number as the Gtir, but can be bought new from Repco 8) Rotors I think cost $154 Each, Calibers something like $40 each

They're not in yet, but I'll let you know how they perform :) The AD22VF upgrade is an incredibly popular mod on turboed Pulsars, so if it's good enough for hundreds of others, I'm sure they'll serve me well.

jst curious why u didnt go SR20DET instead :?:
it is a sr20det, from a U12
all the other ones don't fit because they are for RWD cars

Your SSS has more mods than mine..

Mine has the following extensive list of mods
- MP3 player
- aftermarket tyres (needed them for pink slip)
- removed headlight covers for increased aerodynamics
- NISMO airconditioning gas
- GReddy Steering wheel and gear-knob fading and ageing kit
- Stage 4 weight reduction (removed parcel shelf)

i see, lets us know how the ad22vf's are.

i've got dba slotted 4000series rotors, these are a good upgrade and with a nice set of pads pull the car up really well.

Interesting! How much bigger are the discs than standard?

Ruddigger
04-04-06, 05:16 PM
Well the 300zx brakes are 280mm rotors but i just been told that there is a way to fit 328mm rotor (off a GTR R33 I beleive) with 300zx calipers so

Lets just see what happens now hehe

There is no "JDM" N14 SSS. The production line moved to Japan at the end of 1992 up until 1995. All the built models got shipped back to AUS anyway.

Keven
12-12-08, 01:52 PM
I think they are refering to little cosmetic differences rather than where it was technically built.

The little differences make the JDM N14 look sooooo much better :)

Correct. The SSS was unique to Australia, wasn't it?

I have an S14 now. But early next year it's either Evo 7 or S8 FD (depending on funds) time.

I knew he was reffering to it as JDM because of the cosmetic differences, although im just trying to clarify things, for future reference. Pulsar enthusiasts tend to refer to it as Jap-spec only. I also prefer the jap-spec version because of how many more extra's there is standard. The front bar itself is the biggest influence on the exterior.

For anyone who is interested in both versions and there specs the link is here ---> http://www.pulsar.org.au/specs_n14_aus_jap.php

I don't like to call it the Jap-spec because of my distaste for the term 'Jap'. But we've been there already.

Unique to Australia, as in, only sold here.

Fair enough :)

Yep they were only exclusive to Australia. Although I think there have been the same models released in New Zealend under another name.

Yep.

Aus-specs were Australian built, Jap-specs were Japan built but Australian delivered.

But then again you've also got other models that nissan released like the primera, which came out with the same sort of layout, sr18, etc etc, basically a pulsar but with slight differences.

llama_au
14-12-08, 06:23 PM
errr...no it wasn't, the Primera was a little bigger and based off a different chassis to the N14 :P
