Hey everyone, name's Paul, and this is my daily driven '02 DC5R in Milano Red (Built in August '01).

http://i41.tinypic.com/2rxjqdk.jpg

A lot of you will already know a lot about this car as she is a giant e-fame whore.

Purchased her from a car yard in Auburn in June of 2008, and didn't get her until July. She came with only two modifications to the stock AUDM DC5R. She had lowering springs which has recently been identified by Ison Industries as Lovells and the rear seats were redone in a suede red to match the two Recaros at the front.

Didn't do much to the car in the first year of owning the car, Castle Hill Exhausts put in a 2.5" catback and Tempe Tyres put on some Lenso GF-7's in Hyper Black & Polished Lip with a weak 18x7.5 +40. Before this, I had no idea about the JDM scene so I drove around with those for a good 3 years.

Fast forward a few years after I met Alex, and got my shit together, Tessa is pretty much exactly how I envisioned her when I first bought her. I've tried to minimise purchasing of cheap replica parts and instead go with pricier branded parts.

Thank you to everyone that's supported this Aesthetics build over the last 7 years. Love you all <3

very nice man, had a look the last few meets, i really like the wheels/colour combination
car just loks immaculate, why do you think the headers hit on downshift? normal downshifts or just hard/spirited downshifts? possibly tired engine mounts?

Thanks! I went with Almighty Grey Regas due to most red dc5's doing mainly black on red, or white on red, or gold on red. Headers knock chassis on downshift (especially noticable from 3rd to 2nd at higher rpms) ever since Stage 2 Clutch and Lightened Flywheel went in. Can't be tired engine mounts because brand new Hardrace Mounts went in the same time as the Clutch and Flywheel. The boys at Top One told me about the knocking, and I didn't really notice it until I started downshifting into 2nd at higher rpms. It's not an urgent issue though, but it does open up an opportunity to upgrade headers. =D

Haha, thanks man! I saw the regas as a long term investment, as unoriginal as having Regas on a Honda is, I think they actually suit the car very well. And you're right, saving and having a girlfriend while being a part of this community is not good for the wallet!

So a lot of people don't know this, but my car has been on lowering springs the entire 5 years that I've owned it.

But things have just changed! Recently got a great deal on a set of Silvers NEOMAX Coilovers, and just couldn't wait any longer than 3 days to install them!

UPDATE! (Copy and pasted from Facebook and edited a bit...)

I know some of you who have me on Facebook have already seen all this, but I have to update this! I am so pleased with the results!

Today has been a good day!

But let's start with Thursday afternoon, I got an update from the respray place. They sent me two pics!

http://i39.tinypic.com/2j286dc.jpg

http://i40.tinypic.com/9h8ivs.jpg

So after having no car for a week, I finally got her back this morning after a mission of a drive from Rouse Hill leaving at 6am and getting to Padstow at about 10 past 7am! The car was sitting there in the driveway of the respray shop being cleaned and detailed. Renel (some of you guys may have met him already) just hung out at the cafe next door while they detailed it. They did a great job with the respray and colour matching. The only parts of the car I left untouched were the front bar, lip, hood, mirrors, front fenders, and rear bar. Those are all the parts I may replace or facelift in future. After handing over most of my savings account, I got my keys to my baby back and got back in for the first time in a week.

Drove her in rush-hour traffic to Lindfield. Another mission of a drive. Left Padstow at about 8am. Got to Lindfield at about 9:30am. Carbon Demon wasn't open yet. Mike from Carbon Demon is the nicest guy. Took care of the car and everything. He and his team added the final touches to the car. Gloss Black wrap on the roof and wing blade.

After getting home a bit after Midday, found out I had been accepted into Showcased in the outside arena. So I will be attending along with Jack.

The car finally looks immaculate. Even better than how she looked 5 years ago when I first purchased her. The colour matching is top notch, they even left me a bottle of Milano Red to touch up anything they may have left behind. They replaced my Quarter Panel decals, and put the badges back on.

Carbon also did a great job, the roof job is immaculate. The wing is even more impressive, they had to do a two piece job, so they put the seam in a place where you can barely see it under the wing, and you can't even tell it's there unless you look closely.

Will definitely recommend both places for any future work to anyone.

Easy question! I have a convex Broadway Rear View Mirror. Gives me a wider field of vision than the standard flat-faced Broadway, I can see my passenger quarter window the entire rear window, the back seats, and my head. Honestly, it doesn't get in the way, after a while, you forget they're even there when you look in the mirror.

Mike from Carbon Demon only charged me $400 for it, even though I was initially quoted $450. Sickest guy.

Big creds to all the photographers, Joseph Hui, Justin Sung, ie Photography, Trung from TNT, and another photographer I'm not familiar with.

Got something big coming! Even though I said I was not going to do anything for a while. It's still a 50/50 chance of it happening though. Will completely change the look of the car! At least, from one perspective.

If you looked at the car from a distance, you wouldn't be able to tell that it needed a respray.

A closer look, especially in colder weather when the condensation starts to creep up, you'll see that the panels I had resprayed were in fact pinkish, rather than red. The fade had gone beyond the clear coat, and no amount of professional detailing could make it go away.

Ah okay I see, you can polish and it'll turn form pink back to red and then opticoat it. It is like a clearcoat but tougher.

I guess it would have been a temporary fix for about 5 years or so anyway. Depends how long you planning to keep the car.

Doing everything I can to stop my red fading, opticoated it and going to use optimum car wax as a topper after a wash every month (car is garaged most of its life except weekends and nights). Optimum products have UV inhibitors in them and easy to apply, just letting you know in case you're interested.

Hey guys, update time!

So as most of you know, I was planning on purchasing new wheels to replace the over-played Regamasters.

I made the purchase from PerfectRun.jp in late March, wheels arrived mid April. The PerfectRun guys are amazing. Great customer service. Seeing as I was spending a f***load on the wheels, figured I'd get the centre caps too.

As soon as PerfectRun told me the wheels were on the way, I was completely unprepared and immediately got one of the Hillest boys to order my Tires from DemonTweeks in the UK. I opted for TOYO T1R's in 225/45/17.

A lot of people know I was tossing between a lot of sets of wheels and different sizes. I initially wanted Advan TC-III's, but they'd only come in 18x9.5" +25. Then I was thinking of TE37SL's in 17x9" +22.

In the end, one of my mates suggested SSR Professor SP3's. And as soon as he made he suggestion, I knew it had to be that one. At a recent Garage 88 meet, I had seen a set on a R33 GTR, and I remember asking someone what they were, because I loved all of it.

Before the tires went onto the wheels, I decided to put tyre writing on the tires, didn't turn out great, so I'm just going to wash it off next time I get a chance. The wheels looked so sexual in the box, and even came with a nice little rim cover.

Anyhow, I kept it a secret for long enough. Half a savings account later, and a lot of lost sleep due to excitement, this is the end result.

Tanabe SSR Professor SP3R - 17 x 9" +16.
