....and no, i'll be keeping the original :)

Didnt know if it was MDF / Fiberglass / bog with FG covering ... or actual fiberglass :)

oh speedy, you gotta teach me how to do that!!

Do u have a lancer? lol ...... its called, taking part of the dash apart, and replacing the dash wedged globes with wedged led lights :) Simple $5 mod which makes a big difference at night!~

doofus
06-10-06, 07:09 PM
ahhhh i see, but i have tried that for my cluster, red leds, but it doesnt light up as right as yours,

had a help from some people who have done it on there s13, etc, but apparantly the s15 is totally different

:(

Sp33dY
06-10-06, 07:43 PM
Depends a lot on the way the light runs through the dash ... mine has only 2 small lights, but light is then transferred by thick perspex stuff (much thicker than what i had in the echo). It was only the air-con controls ive changed so far .... speedo comes standard red.

Spent more time inside the car.

- Took my Apexi AVCR apart and painted the shell black, then cut away at the ashtray on the centre console so I could fit the AVCR in there instead.

- Made a face plate so that the gaos between the AC/Stereo/Guages is not covered up.

- Moved the 2wd/4wd switch next to driver key/immobiliser.

- Hid the PowerFC hand commander + HKS torque converter in the glove box too, stealthy!!! Also took out the ugly loop pile grey carpet and replaced it with black plush pile (from Melbourne: http://www.knoxautocarpets.com.au).

27-11-06, 01:40 PM
Jesus! that looks amazing!!!

how much would that weigh ?

Justin Fox
27-11-06, 02:02 PM
Gutting an interior doesn't save that much weight. The tar itself ads up to about 10kg if you remove it from the flor pan and the boot too. I had to get rid of the rear seats in any case, due to the cage. So it paid to neaten it up, so in my case, it's more for looks than weight savings.

Looks great.

FYI

You may want to consider putting a harness bar into the cage. I had the same set up in the S15 ( Cusco cage , harness bolted to floor) . Got pinged at a supersprint recently for the harness being straps being over 45 degrees it does not comply with CAMS apparently.

Yup that's a cams regulation. R32 GT-R's all over the world use the same set-up as me though, even the ones in Group-A racing. I don't see the problem with it and have not measured the angle myself. Will do ASAP.

The same diffuser. Yes it makes the side-skirts look weak as the front bar is so much lower and more aggressive now. But you have to remember it's not just about looks. It is a diffuser after-all, not just a lip.

justin is that scratched bit like the old skool black plastic bumper stuff?

if so you could, sand it back a bit, and paint it with either black undercoat or cheapo matt black paint... or both...

either way it should blend well with carbon bottom lip...

Justin Fox

That mania intake for the MX-5... you will love it. Sounds so damn good. Best intake mod, sound wise, of any car I've ever owned.

A'PEXi: Harnesses were given to me at a special price for 2 sets before new years as they were the old bunch. But when I went to the store they had sold out of the old batch and only had 3 of these new ones (2012 expiry). So absolutely not a dollar less. I paid RRP on these ($445 each) which is still a lot cheaper than Takatas and suits my interior a lot (ie: invisible).

I tried it on last night after setting it up and I can definitely say that I've never been held in so tight before. It's totally different to the 2inch lap belt style harnesses. Only thing negative is the fact that the wider 3 inch straps really cut into your neck and I can see that getting super un-comfy on a track... so I'll have to buy a set of shoulder pads.

Thanks for the info justin, great price too. Theres a shop here which sells them for a fair bit more (I think around the $600 mark?) which is prob. what a new takata costs...

let the hate begin

19" wheels.. it hasn't slowed me down as and their my daily/street setup. still have the work VS 16" for foot work when needed for track/creek.

Hasn't lost any more then upto 10RWKW id say as it can still hold it down for a 2.0L turbo . will be at the toymods dyno day this weekend to verify this.

Love it or hate I've got it now.

I received a delivery of parts from Japan this week and fitted just a couple of items on Wed night. Took about all of five minutes to fit them both, sorry about the picture quality they were taken with my mobile.

Syms Racing windscreen wipers, note how there are extra aerofoils which dovetail perfectly with the OEM aerofoil on the driver's side wiper arm.

Cusco radiator panel, the theory is sound but I'm not sure these things actually work. They do look cool however in a nice anodised blue and it is a perfect fit.

Strangely, my MX5 has heaps of JDM gear but I think these are the first JDM parts to adorn the XT. Without even realising it everything else has been OzDM so far.

But you've gotta love the OEM fit and quality of JDM goodness!!

thanks
Rod

Don't have pics, but I got a set of HKS Hipermax-D's for my g/f's S14. They feel very stable and very controllable when the rear end starts moving around. Very easy to steer on the throttle. Just needs a set of 33 GTR wheels and a decent kit now. Oh, and a 1.5 way diff. Thinking about maybe one of those Tomei TRAX thingswhatsits.

yea mine are 20"
i wanted 22" on the back but AMEs dont come in 22"
even if they did you can't buy original ones anymore

only thing stopping me from going 22s is finding a rim i like

I don't understand why people get extremely large wheels? It doesn't look good for 1, then performance is crap... i just don't get it.

I reckon big rims on a smallish car looks horrid to say the least. 20" for an R32 is the biggest i'd go if i wanted a show car, but anything larger would look... dirty. But hey, that's my opinion. 33 and 34 on the other hand, 22" may suit them better as they're bigger cars.

It took me a few months but i decided to go for 17s over the 18s, but then i had to get 18s because 17s weren't available for ages - price wasn't the issue here at all.

Met a guy with a dark green late 80s or early 90s jaguar with 24" rims on it (yes 24" on normal sized sedan!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ). Looked quite off, but he seemed proud that he spent over $5k or $6k(!!!!! :O) and proudly saying 'bro i got 24s'. "Yeah, wow, but it doesn't mean it looks good!!" (car was sitting like it was on high heels or something! - wheels couldn't get tucked in any more either).

I appreciate good paint jobs, clean bodykits, and nice interior, but I suppose I'm just not into this American "massive rim bling bling" thing.

(sorry turned into a longer post than i first anticipated)

yea this is true. but i did state that it is my opinion.

just really grinds my gears when i hear people brag on about rim size like they're talking about their doodles.

is there a reason why people brag on about wheel sizes or is it only for 'looks'. maybe i missed that memo. i would like it explained by someone who's into large size wheels cos i'm fascinated to find out the reason behind this. doodle size/how much money you make/the bigger the wheels the bigger the gangsta or pimp/etc..

Not adding to the argument but bigger rims perhaps look a little better than rims that are too small. And I know on the GT-R bigger rims than stock (stock on the R32 GT-R was 16inch) is faster too around a track (wider tyres = more grip).

I do think that big rims look good. If you look at concept car sketches for example... most of the sketches show big massive rims. Even concept cars have massive rims and if you look at cars over the years... rims just keep getting bigger and bigger on production cars. 21inches is almost normal now on many Euro luxury cars.
