you can get adr approved lines im not sure if they are the ones your talking about but thats the ones i would buy if in any doubt they go thru a shiteload of testing to ensure they are safe

My existing braided lines are ADR approved. But ADRs are only applicable to street cars where such heat is never going to be an issue.

Whether these lines are CAMS or FIA approved, on the other hand, I am not so sure of.

sure that makes sense

possibly some heat wrap zip tied over the lines would prevent the radiating heat from being a problem

so after pulling my hair out all afternoon trying to sort out a neat way to mount the battery ignighter/coil and airbox i finally settled on this i think it will be neat and im happy with it.

The intake pipes will lineup alot better when i get the correct length

Because the airbox is in the boot now the wiring for the afm will need to be extended but thats no biggy i can manage that one myself

Originally i mounted the battery in the boot but with all the power wires and the airbox in the engine bay it just looked like a mess so i went with the stock location which seems to be alot better

It is just a mockup with the piping but i have determined the size of piping and hose i need to make it up so just need to go out and buy it now

4agte

i believe it would be legal the sound isnt amplified really

atm im trying to keep it as stock and clean looking as possible the afm wiring is complete so is the inlet piping its all looking very black and as neat as possible

so as i keep saying only bits and pices left to do

probably be able to take it for a spin tomorrow sounds awesome with just the engine pipe gonna annoy the hell outta the neighbours cant wait!!!!

you bet!!! sounds awesome cant wait to drive it on the road with straight pipes muhahaa

dont think ill bother with a tuned length intake im gonna get an aftermarket ecu and put velocity stacks in a custom plenum i thinks with some bigger cams that should do it power wise

drove the 2 home from the mechanics after getting a zorst and some coolant issues sorted i remember why i decided to start working on my own cars because i got fairly well charged

in any case its really quiet allmost too quiet

it moves really well im quite impressed with the little 20v it has alot of low down pull and revs really well i really think its about as quick as a stock gze altho i have a lightweight flywheel so might have a bit to do with it all in all quite happy needs alot of little things to get it right and the susspension needs some MAJOR attention

ECUTek might control stock Evo water spray....but can it control the cusco controller i have?

4agte

well if it has an configurable output you might be able to use it to trigger the cusco water spray but honestly all youd need would be a relay hooked up to a water pump for the spray

quality of them is good, i've set all 4 to soft for now and it rides good on the street.
Didn't need to modify any of the shocks to get them to fit.

Only problem was the rear upper shock bolts spun the shaft when tightening, so I ended up grabbing the shaft with my hand so it wouldn't spin.

Justin Fox
30-03-07, 09:06 AM
For sure the G4's will improve your Micras handling by a LOT. I'm a brand name whore but it's quite proven time and time again that cheaper imitation stuff works (again, MX-5 Mania are damn fast and they use some pretty crappy parts on some of their cars). I'd put this stuff on my Jazz perhaps, but never on the GT-R.

this is normal.
some shocks has flat top or allen key so you can hold it.

otherwise i just use an impact wrench (rattle gun).

It depends on your aims.

For street and occasional track only, generally imitation stuff works. You're not putting enough stress on it for it to be a major issue. If there are performance differences, they'll be minimal.

For competitive track worky, while a lot of people use imitation stuff it'll depend on what the component is. Some stuff is just built like shit and will fall apart. Some stuff is cheaper purely because its not a brand, not because its shithouse. I've got no problem with XForce exhausts etc, but if I was racing I'd be picking Project Mu / Endless / Brembo rotors over DBA / RDA if I could afford it.

Jing
30-03-07, 01:20 PM
i guess it also depends on the importance/technical nature of the item.

IE knock of coilover is not similar to a knock off catch can.

Both are knock off but ........

just to add on to shonen's story - nankangs are shit. At 80km/h+ the car feels like it is on jelly suspension - the wheels just roll around on the sidewalls with 45psi rear and 42psi front. In the back of my mind the whole trip along the m5 to padstow i was waiting to be overtaken by one of my tyres coming off the wheel

lovesil

A few more little things:
- Mugen visors (great for opening windows for fresh air in the rain).

- GD3 plates (I couldn't help myself).
- Mugen style headlights + HID (imitation of headlights featured on their dynamite concept car).

LOL I literally took the front bar off and just took off those headlights!!! What a pain in the ass that was. I agree "black" headlights look better. I might try to source some from the USA as their black cars over there came with black headlight housings.

"GD3" is the model number (like: AE86, BNR32, SW20, DC2R, EG6 etc).

PPS: These wheels are so damn light it's ridiculous. They're almost half the weight of the stock Jazz rims, should mean better lap times and fuel savings too.

Ironic.

The NC MX5 comes with Pilot Precedas, and when my mate put on his TE37s with Nangkang NS2s he found he gained a whole bunch of grip. The Nangkangs are 20mm wider with a lower profile, admittedly, and the rims are 0.5" wider and running a lower offset, but at the same time they're a year old and been sitting in my garage so the rubber isn't exactly pristine. The car turned in better, and with the staggered sizes he found that he was getting less "looseness" from the back and could power out earlier and harder.

Could still be a weight thing :)

Its more probably the 55 profile, especially if your Michelins were lower.

i just can't get over how spongy the sidewalls are, even though round-abouts

the michelins are a 225/45 the kangs' are a 205/55. But even when i had 205/55 turanza's the car never behaved like this. Jelly tyres i tells ya

$588 each in 15inch x 7. They are one of the lightest wheels available on the market (just a tiny bit heavier than Volk CE28N/TE37).

So going higher in kelvins just changes the colour and not going brighter.

mmm widebody.

my first post in here, and it's a ricey one.

Some custom taillights i've made from scratch for the Astina.

night/twilight, lit, and with indicator on.

ring of LEDs for tail/brake, with conventional bulbs in the centre of each for reverse or indicator depending on location. reflectors around the LEDs too.

never again!

DIY fo' Shizzle!

Yeah, all done by me and a made who'd good with electricity!

Started off with a broken set of stock lights, smoothed the housing off, coated them in primer.

here (http://rupewrecht.com/astina/lights/astina_tail_lhs_bog_01.jpg), here (http://rupewrecht.com/astina/lights/astina_tail_lhs_bog_02.jpg), and here (http://rupewrecht.com/astina/lights/astina_tail_both_primer.jpg)

that was the easy bit.

making the actual light was a pain in the arse.

reflectors and leds - here (http://rupewrecht.com/astina/lights/astina_tail_asm_unreflected.jpg)
centre light holders - here (http://rupewrecht.com/astina/lights/astina_tail_asm_indrev.jpg)
centre light holder err holders - here (http://rupewrecht.com/astina/lights/astina_tail_asm_brackets.jpg)

and the rear of the assembly - here (http://rupewrecht.com/astina/lights/astina_tail_asm_assembled_back.jpg)

you can kinda see the rings of leds in the back, and the grounding wire for the tail/brake circuits. they're designed so if one LED fails, then the whole light doesn't shut down - just that group of four.
