For some reason wilch... and call this cliche....but as soon as I saw the piccy after the carpet has been ripped up something sprung into my head.

I think that room would look really nice with a slight Japanese theme to it.... it looks very "grandeur".

Here's what I would do:
Paint the seperating board (the one that's in the middle of the wall - horizontally) a really dark brown.
Bottom walls (below the board) off-white
Top walls a light brown/beige
Paint ceiling and architrave white
Deep red curtains

Some nice deep red rugs and a really low wooden mahogany coffee table and really big plush red cushions to the side of it.

No I'm not a part of the fab 5.....
No I'm not ghey.....

I'd just put in a sega rally machine or something. Job done. Who cares what the room looks like if you're racing. xD

Enough of 'Changing Rooms' .... back to cars.

My flywheel Brokekneknedd.... Flywheel cracked, clutch disk rooted/mashed/worn, clutch plate distorted --- it's been at mitsu for the past week. BEtter be covered by warranty or heads will roll -- flywheels on stock cars dont end up like that through abuse!

Flywheel ... "Slightly' visible crack!
http://www.sp33dy.com/stuff/mashed_crack_1.jpg

Closeup of 'the crack'
http://www.sp33dy.com/stuff/mashed_crack_2.jpg

Yep, it went the whole way through the casting from the outer diam, to inner diam, from top to bottom.
http://www.sp33dy.com/stuff/mashed_crack_3.jpg

I was surprised to find an Exedy clutch inside for an OEM part! This made me happy ...
http://www.sp33dy.com/stuff/mashed_crack_4.jpg

But when i saw how mashed it was .... it made me sad.
Im no expert, but i didnt think clutch discs were meant to 'wear' like that???
Almost looks as though the crack has grated one side of the clutch disc.
http://www.sp33dy.com/stuff/mashed_crack_5.jpg

The other side also looked to be cactus due to everything going out of alignment.
http://www.sp33dy.com/stuff/mashed_crack_6.jpg

The pressure plate also copped some custom machining to the face by damaging it.
http://www.sp33dy.com/stuff/mashed_crack_7.jpg

Also looks like the flywheel attempted to rub against the housing.
IM glad i stopped driving, as my passenger might of ended up being butchered by a flywheel at 3000rpm.

http://www.sp33dy.com/stuff/mashed_crack_8.jpg

21-08-07, 02:18 PM
geeezus Speedy thats fucking crazy, how did you do that?? Did you Echo go through any clutches????

Sp33dY
21-08-07, 02:27 PM
Yes shane ... it's fuckin crazy. Echo went through 1 clutch, and 1 set of brake pads, that was it --- wheni ripped the clutch out in the echo (DIY FTW!) the flywheel was all good, and just needed ot be machined down a tad --- no fractures/or minute cracks of any kind were visible ..... Overall the echo had TONNNES of abuse but was mostly bulletproof. Was fairly unbreakable like the Hilux. lol

Although my lancer has done 32,000kms in the last 11 and a bit months, ive never abused it anything like i did with the echo. The fact that a crack that huge has occured prior to the clutch being absolutely flat --- i reckon its a manuf fault thats gotten worse and owrse over time. Happened when i was driving enthusiastically on a local twisty ...... not much more to say than that.

Eitherway , if it was due to an abusive driver, i'd of had little fractures all over the flywheel --- not just 1 big mother in it. Am still not sure if anything else was damaged in the process. ... am waiting fro Mitsu to call me over the next couple of days. Last friday they were still waiting on some parts to arrive to reassemble the clutch/flywheel assy.

Lesson so far? Shoulda stuck to a toyota instead of buying a Mitsu!

Mike.V?!

Sp33dY
22-08-07, 02:18 PM
Shane ... picsorban !!! (Advan RG's).

I picked up my car at lunchtime!!! Feels so wierd to drive!
Im not sure if it's because :

A) I got used to a Hyundai Excel (girlfriends car) OR

B) gearbox and brakes (and maybe motor) have fresh fluid & pedals have all been adjusted. Gearbox feels like it has a short shift kit in it compared to driving the Excel, and feels somewhat 'tighter' when changing gears than it did before. Brakes feel super sensitive, and clutch feels softer to press compared to what it used to be like. Will be odd driving it home from work for the first time in nearlly 2 weeks! Im convinced now that the flywheel was probably on the way out but didnt realise it till it happened.

You're welcome to piss yourself laughing at this 'mod', but it works.

I found a very convenient use for the rear strut brace today. I was sick of my cleaning products flying around the boot every time I took a corner (hence why the carpet looks so ratty as everything under the sun has been spilt on it.) I bought a storage box from Bunnings and cable-tied it to the strut brace as there's nowhere else in the boot to attach anything without drilling. So far so good. If anyone wants pics I'll get some.

Its used when putting on a bodykit. Basically as Eve.R said, its applying constant pressure on the new sticked bodykit, so it will stick on properly. Remember: No such glue can stick on and harden almost immediately.

yep thats right. got the nismo rear pods put on. when i picked my car up from the panel beater the glue was still setting and they had the pot taped on to hold pressure onto it. when i got home i added the glass tape because the masking tape copped a bit of a beating from the wind on the freeway. anyways it looks better now :D just gotta get some pics

All relevant sensors came with the DEFI gauges. They come included inside the boxes. If you don't have any sensors, shoot Troy from PRO-Speed Racing with an email.. You can also PM him through the TRADERS section of OzHonda. If not, www.prospeedracing.com.au (http://www.prospeedracing.com.au/)

He's an official Australian distributor of Defi.. He also supplied the sandwich plate + water sensor holder (T piece thing) with my gauge purchase...

Not today :P 'sif this one is going to blow, it's ~3,200km in so far and it's under warranty for 40,000 ;)

I still stick by my original statement - weak. Serious, you should have knocked out all of the OEM garbage and solid-filled the whole thing, or bought solid inserts. Semi-solids aren't that good.

Recently had some work done by Pulse Racing down in Menai:
- Reflash OEM ECU and custom tune
- VF34 @ 1.2 Bar
- Blitz SBC i-Color
- Walbro fuel pump
- Cusco turbo heatshield and silicon TMIC to throttle body connector
- CES boost enhancer plate for VF34
- CES catless up-pipe
- Silicon airbox to turbo intake pipe
- Endless SS-M pads front and rear
- Bleed and top up Trust brake fluid
- Hooked up the electrics for my GFB Deceptor Pro BOV - sleeper to Leb-spec at the turn of a knob in the cabin

183rwkW and a HEAP of torque that comes on nice and early, incredible to drive on the street and a REAL sleeper.

I'll complete the sleeper look first:
- Ditch the MY03 STi style CF scoop
- Replace with OEM MY02 STi colour matched scoop to complete the sleeper look

Transmission mod's:
- Larger transmission fluid cooler
- Auto valve body modifications for firmer and faster shifts

It really needs more rubber and some suspension mod's but I want to keep the stock ride height. Might also go for some four pot WRX brakes up front and I need to fit the Cusco master cylinder stopper that's been sitting on the shelf for months as well as the Blitz R-VIT with a whole bunch of sensors to keep an eye on things.

The Blitz SBC i-Color needs a little fine tuning too.

thanks

Like for example Arrons(BLK10N) HIDs seem realy blue...if not bluer than mine! Dont think the Temperature rating(K-Kelvin) has any affect on brightness but more the colour spectrum thats why u get from yellow to white to blue to purple... Thats from what i know of anyhoo..

kaotic... damn man.. those lights are looking for trouble...

Most HID's tend to be really blue once they go over the "8000 kelvin" rating.. I'd say it only looks really blue in the photo because of the reflector headlights..

Kin (Kaotic), the reason why my HIDs look so blue is probably bcoz of the projector headlights. A projector (regardless of whether it's from a HID model or not) will focus this light into concentrated beams, therefore providing more light and therefore more blue..

This said, I have to say that aftermarket HIDs really do hurt the on-coming driver's eyes.. Ive seen other dc2r's with HIDs and they really did hurt my eyes.. but then they also look sweet when they flicker from blue to white..

I'm actually thinking of getting a 4500K HID bulb instead.. I love my mum's Euro's HIDs..

The fixed back comfortable for daily driving (unsure if it's your daily).

It is pretty comfortable as a daily drive, but a recliner is definitely more suitable.
The Bride seat is a race bred fixed bucket seat to begin with, so I am not expecting plush lay-z-boy sofa level of comfort and live-ability
Getting in and out can be difficult at times (i.e. narrow multi level parking lots, steep slopes), but so far so good.

On the plus side:

Great driving position and it'll HOLD you firm in place
Top quality leather and stitching (it's like one of those bespoke Italian furniture)
Generous bum width (great in a small cabin like the MX5)

Don't worry, Philip. I promise to look after the seat well.
And you are more than welcome to have a ride in the 5 if you are in this neck of the woods.

I hadn't done much research into it. He's getting one for his S15 and I was looking at a boost controller so he decided it was cheaper to get both at once. It's the bees knees so I'm looking forward to having it installed. Won't be running much boost until the new turbo goes on, remap and possibly an injector upgrade. I should be able to run 12PSI on the standard turbo on the stock ECU.

One step ahead of you, all the carpet is gone, sound deadening is going to be removed over the weekend as well, back seat may go back in to make it look a little less dodgy, but rear seat belts have already been removed.

been a while since i last contributed to this thread. bit of a ricer update really :P
Short Ram intake, Drycell battery setup (re-wired to fusebox & starter while i was at it), heatwrapped my Headers, pissed off the Aircon and put a carbon plug cover on.
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/4467/picture021nb2.jpg

These Pulse batteries are good value for money. Chopped up a generic battery and re-made + & - while i was at it.
http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/576/batteryxp1.jpg
next up, make and enclosure for the filter and get some bigger brakes! (and yes, i still have to weld a fitting into the intake pipe for the hose coming off the VC

I've been meaning to ask you this for a while - but is your car maroon?

A maroon r33 tried to play with me on my way into Brisbane one night and I thought it had WTF on the plates.... I was weighed down with weekend bags and about 200kgs of car parts!
