7M-GTE Ignition

Hey everyone,
My friend has just shoehorned a 7mgte into his MA70 supra. Anyway, apparantly he is missing : Ignitor or ignition coil? Not sure exactly what this is but could anyone here help me to find one? Thanks

Should be the same as other toyotas. I remember i used my IS200 one on a 1jzgte motor....

^^ Would require a different wiring loom and likely also confuse the crap out of the ECU

A standard "GE" spec might not work.. but I believe the 7MGTE has a cam positioning sensor on it.

It uses a DLI (dizzy less ignition system/coil packs) vs the 7MGE. Where the 7MGE dizzy would go there is a rotor cap to connect the leads.

Find out if his missing this (I highly doubt.. I dont think they remove the DLI's,) or the Coil packs which should sit ontop of the engine

The DLI is mainly interchangable with toyota and since its stock DLI setup. All you need todo is get the correct timing and positioning of the cam sensor otherwise it will run rough, miss and you may miss out on power.

As for the coil packs, This is out of my Area.. I had a GZE DLI setup before.. but my current engine is still plain dizzy so its out of my knowledge. The best bet is - Try to source a Inline 6 toyota one, 1JZ, 2JZ, 7M the modern GTE style engines should be ok

If they are going to run aftermarket ecu instead then any coil packs can be installed to suite the ECU

I have a solution! Swap out the 7M-BHG, and slot in a 1JZ setup :D

Wow thats a pretty clever system in the gte. I knew they didnt have a distributor, but i never knew they had some fancy kind of induction coil setup for ignition and cam position sensor... the stuff headaches are made of

around $70 mark, although i've seen some sell for $150 !!
